When I was a College Program CM, I worked at ASSp durring and after 9/11. I was having a really bad day because most of our guests, instead of reflecting on the terrible tradegy, had
complained that the parks were closed and it had ruined their vacations. I was staioned at Guest Services for the day and a
middle aged man came up to me in tears, he was shaking badly. He said that he had no way to get back home to NY and wanted to
purchase another night's stay at the resort. I was worried about his apparance, so I asked him a few questions, and come to find out
his sister worked in the WTT! He had no way of knowing if she was OK or not. So I consoled for a few minutes and made sure that he
and his family would receive a free room until they could make arrangements to get home. That memory still tears me up... --Stephanie
We took a magical 2-week vacation to Walt Disney World with our 2 and 3 year old sons July/August of 2003. My favorite memories: 1) My
2 year old fell in love with Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) after meeting her at Epcot's Storybook Princess Breakfast on our 2nd day
there. We proceeded over the course of our vacation to run into her at least 5 other times (amazingly, the same girl). Not only did she
remember my sons name but she wrote him a special note in his autograph book, gave him loads of kisses, and sat talking to him for
over 10 minutes. He is still talking about it to everyone who will listen! -- Monica
I taught at a small private school and was the senior homeroom teacher (avg. class size - 30). One year I decided we should go to
WDW for spring break. That first year we actually drove from Houston, TX! I have many, many magical moments, but one that stands
out is the year a small group of seniors came with me to the Magic Kingdom. I told them to stick with me, and we would see the
fireworks from Splash Mountain. They didn't believe I could pull it off, but in the midst of spring break crowds we boarded the train,
got off at Frontierland, got in line at Splash Mountain - and were able to see the fireworks as we rode the ride. Had we missed the
train - or been only 5 minutes later to get in line - we would have missed the fireworks. But luck and a little pixie dust were on our
side! After that the kids thought I could do no wrong, at least as far as WDW went! We rode SM and BTMR until they closed the park,
then walked out through the almost deserted park. It was magical! Best non-senior moment - my then 2 year old daughter thinking the
bus from the All Star Sports was a ride. We have video of her going "Wheee! Wheee!" -- Christine
When my daughter was 5, we were staying at an all-star resort and shopping in the resort gift shop. After carefully counting out her
money she found she had just enough to buy a beautiful Sleeping Beauty bank. She took it to the counter and proudly paid for it
herself. To her surprise, and mine, the cast member at the register dug into his pocket for some coins and said "here's some change to
start you off with".She was just beaming. -- Kelly
This is less of a magical moment than it is a drop-your-jaw-in-shock moment:
While visiting the World at about the age of 10, my brother and I were in the Energy display in EPCOT. He asked me to put some things in my bag for
him so I unzipped it, added the items and took out others. Everything seemed to be in order.
An hour or so later (and very thirsty), I reached into my bag to retrieve my coin purse which had change from the $20 my mother had given me that
morning. The entire coin purse was gone, and so was my allotment of money for food and snacks for the day. To an 10 year old child this was the most
horrible day of my life, not to mention relying on my brother to feed me the rest of the day.
That evening, when we met up with my parents, I was scared to death. I just knew my parents were going to be VERY upset with me (again, think like an 10
year old child). I mean, I had LOST over $17.00, at that time that is your life savings.
After the parade, we went to guest services for something for my mom, I asked if I could walk over to the lost and found to see if someone had
turned in my coin purse. My dad looked at me with skepticism. I went anyway, at least hoping for my coin purse back.
I got to lost and found, described my purse, and they RETURNED IT TO ME, MONEY INTACT!! I was shocked (so were my parents). We were told a cast
member found it and brought it in from the Energy ride.
Of course, I had to pay back my brother the money he spent on me, but I still have that coin purse 15 years later!! -- Thomas and Janis
