Epcot Flower and Garden Festival 2002 -- by Chris and Jessica Johnson

My husband and I decided to visit WDW to see the 2002 Flower & Garden Festival in May. The festival is held throughout Epcot. We happened to pick the weekend of Mother’s Day to go, so we were also able to attend the Food Among the Flowers Brunch. Evidently in years past the brunch was offered most weekends, but this year it was only available on the Saturday and Sunday of Mother’s Day Weekend. If in the future you would want to go to the brunch, which I would highly recommend, you need to make PS and the PS has to be paid for when it is made. I don’t remember the exact cost, but I believe the Brunch was about 68.00 for the two of us, including taxes.

As I said before, the entire park was full of surprises, so I’ll take you through what we saw that weekend. As you entered the gates at the Main Entrance there was a large topiary setting the theme for the Festival. The theme is "100 Years of Magic" and the first topiary was a salute to that theme. It was a giant spool of film partially unwound with the "Fab Five" characters, all done in plants. The first two you see are Mickey and Minnie, sitting on the film, and at the base of the film, as you circle the topiary, you’ll find Donald Duck, Pluto and Goofy.
