What is your name? Joan Faux

MFL member Joan Faux who says: "This photo was taken in March 2007 at Epcot (before they took the wand down). It is a Photopass photo - the photographer suggested we take a silly photo and we happily obliged. My DH Alex is holding my younger DS Peter upside down, and my older DS Justin is sitting in front making a silly face, and, as you can see I am enjoying myself thoroughly."
Who does your family consist of? myself (45), DH Alex (45), DS (8) Justin, DS (3) Peter
What is your occupation? SAHM/homemaker
Who is your favorite Disney Character and why? Really difficult to choose just one...Tinkerbell, Mickey, Peter Pan, Tigger, Chip & Dale, Mulan, Lightning McQueen, Mater, ...
How many times have you vacationed to a Disney destination? WDW x5, DL once.
What is your favorite Disney Resort (or off site property) and why? This depends on time of year...around Christmas, without a doubt it's WL (love that lobby, theming, courtyard/pool and boat to MK), then at other times AKL - it's away from things and l love looking out from my balcony and seeing giraffes and zebras *right there!* (not sure what it will be like now when the new DVC section is complete though). I also love POFQ - great theming, so compact and I love the boat to DTD.
What is your favorite Disney restaurant, in or out of the parks? Artist Point (WL) and California Grill (Contemporary).
What is your favorite ride or attraction at any of the Disney parks? Soarin'
When visiting Disney theme parks, do you "park hop" or not and why? We hop. (For our most recent trips we have had APs). With the ability to hop we can do one park in the morning, then another after taking a swim/rest break, even a third park after dinner. We have also (for fun, not efficiency) taken the monorail from MK to Epcot, then walked through to the IG and taken a Friendship to DHS.
What is your favorite Disney memory? The time we surprised both of our boys with a trip to WDW to celebrate both of their birthdays (in December). There were so many great moments, including springing the surprise on our sons the afternoon before we were leaving...DH and I made a DVD to let them know what we were going to be doing. Another highlight on that trip was the gorgeous personalized giftbags I arranged for my sons through Jane and Dodie of Pixiedust Delivery (Jane is also the MFL WDW shopper). The look on their faces when the CM came out from the Front Desk when we checked in to give them their gifts was wonderful. Pure magic! There was definitely an extra bunch of pixie dust sprinkled on that trip.
What is your favorite "extra cost" event/tour? My sons are too young for most of the tours, so we have not done any tours yet. I look forward to doing a Segway tour some day. We did the Pirates and Princess party in March 2007 and really enjoyed it. In October 2008 we are planning to do MNSSHP.
Have you met any MFL members at a Disney park? If so, who and what did you do? Met up with Carol V and Joanie from PA at Beaches n' Cream and we had some yummy ice cream treats while we had a wonderful chat. I look forward to meeting up with them again sometime and hopefully meeting other MFLers in the future too!
Besides "things Disney", what do you like to do in your free time? Free time...what is that? LOL. Hmmm...mostly spend time with my family, but I also garden, plan and work on our ongoing home renovation project, research things on the internet.
What would people be surprised to know about you? When I was in high school, in my senior year I traveled to FL with a group of girlfriends for March Break. I had an opportunity to go to WDW then and turned it down! My first visit to WDW was not until 2004 with my DH and older (at the time only) DS. So my obsession with Disney could have started soooo much earlier!
What is your best MouseForLess money saving tip? Book your trip through TMFL - let your friendly TMFL TA look out for discounts for you! Linda N has saved my family money, time and stress...and provided lots of helpful advice and tips that made our vacations at WDW even more enjoyable and fun.
What area of TheMouseForLess.com do you use most frequently?
I visit the WDW Resort Information section most often, but I also use the Downloads For Your Trip section quite a bit too. I have not had a chance to look through it too much yet, but the new WDW Menus section is probably going to become a favourite as well.
What is your favorite aspect of MFL? The wonderfully warm, supportive, friendly community of knowledgeable helpful Disney lovers.
