Caribbean Beach Facts

Opening Date: October 1, 1988
Category: Moderate
Rooms: 2,112

Levels: Guest accommocations buildings have 2 levels.

Caribbean Beach is Disney's first moderate resort. It is now the second largest of the moderate resorts.

Room Categories: Standard View; Water (lake or pool) View. Typical room size is 340 square feet (larger than the other moderates).

Rooms are available with two double beds or a king bed. Rooms include a coffee maker. There are no hairdryers in the rooms, but guests can request one from housekeeping.

The resort is located in the Epcot resort area. Epcot is the closest of the theme parks. Typhoon Lagoon is the closest water park. Caribbean Beach is located not far from Downtown Disney.

Transportation to Disney Attractions: By bus to all destinations. Caribbean Beach has seven separate bus stops (a stop servicing each "village" area plus a stop at Old Port Royale).

GUIDE TO THE CUSTOMS HOUSE

Caribbean Beach is unusual among the Disney moderate resorts in that it has a separate building dedicated entirely to handling arriving and departing guests. The Customs House is located right where you turn into the resort. The Barbados section is the closest guest area.

Upon arrival at the Customs House, guests check in and their luggage can be transported to their room by resort personnel or brought to the room by the guests. It should be noted that the Customs House is NOT close to most of the guest areas. Guests who do not have their own cars may wish to take advantage of the luggage transfer service.

If you are staying at Caribbean Beach, do not have a car, and want to visit the Customs House for any reason (such as going to Guest Services), take an internal bus around the resort, get off at Barbados, and cross the street.

GUIDE TO CARIBBEAN BEACH GUEST AREAS

Caribbean Beach is made up of six separate "villages" arranged around a 45-acre chain of three lakes called Barefoot Bay. Each village is named for a Caribbean island. Going clockwise from Old Port Royale, the villages are: Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba, Barbados, and Martinique.

Each village has its own sand beach on the shore of Barefoot Bay. Swimming is not permitted in the bay. The beaches are outfitted with hammocks, lounge chairs and volleyball nets.

All the villages are similar architecturally but are painted in different bright, festive colors.

Each village "group" is made up of six buildings, except for Trinidad North, which has three.

In the middle of Barefoot Bay is an island called Parrot Cay. On the island you'll find lush gardens and sandy picnic areas. A bridge runs across Parrot Cay from a spot between Jamaica and Aruba on one side and from just opposite Old Port Royale on the other.
