Here's a new "Must-Do" in your WDW vacation planning:
On Friday 4/22/05 Goofy's Candy Company officially opened at Downtown
Disney. Having been under wraps for a few months, the former Home
Store merchandise has been moved to World of Disney, and DTD is now
the home a wonderful concept in a candy store! This is NOT a 'kids
only' destination....there is something there for anyone at any age!
This is an 'interactive' candy store. There are opportunities to
create your own confection fantasy right there! The first is an area
for you to design your own frozen drink (think Slurpee) container by selecting a bottom (or 'feet'), a middle (holds the drink) and a top (like mouse ears).
For $8 you can fill it with any of the 8 flavors available! The best part is that you get to keep the cup and a refill is only $2! It's okay to bring it back during later visits, unlike the refillable mugs at the resorts. For MFL Member Colleen's first hand "report" click here: Build A Drink .
The second, and centerpiece of the store, is a mini-factory. Take
your check list and mark off what you'd like the main items to be
(pretzel rods, rice crispy treat, apple, etc.) and what coatings do
you want (caramel, white or milk chocolate, sprinkles, nuts, etc.)
Hand the order to one of Goofy's candy makers and they make it for
you right then and there! The costs vary, but at average about $3.50.
(BTW- If you need ideas, Mickey, Minnie and the gang have left their
checklist for you to see their favorites!)
There are also 3 other main areas. First is the prebagged candy- everything from cotton candy to taffy! Secondly you'll find a wall of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans where you can make your own bagged combination. Finally is the candy counter where you can get chocolate dipped strawberries, fresh made fudge and the like.
If you are not into candy and just want something to 'wet your whistle' Goofy serves up hot drinks (coffees, etc.) and cold sodas (in plastic bottles)!
I was so impressed! It is a bright, colorful, and whimsically decorated shop, just as you'd expect from Goofy! If you look closely on the walls, you can see some of Goofy's 'secret recipes'....if you can understand his doodlings:)
I was pleasantly surprised and will definately frequent Goofy's Candy Company!
