Deluxe Resort Classification
Located in the Magic Kingdom resort area
Check In: 3:00 p.m. / Check Out: 11:00 a.m.
Themed as a resort from the North Woods (think Yellowstone National Park), the Wilderness Lodge is both cozy and breathtaking. Immediately upon entering, you will be struck by the grandeur of the lobby, including a working fireplace, totems and teepee chandeliers. The fireplace is a replica of the rock strata of the Grand Canyon.
A bubbling spring in the lobby actually goes under the wall, and travels outside. From there you can follow it over a waterfall, and into the feature pool. Beyond the pool, the water travels under a bridge, past the working geyser and into Bay Lake.
The Wilderness Lodge, like all Disney resorts, is smoke-free. Designated outdoor smoking areas are indicated on the Resort Map.
Resort Refurbishment:
None at this time.
Resort Theme:
The Wilderness Lodge resort is reminiscent of the national parks of the Northwest.
Resort Rooms:
In addition to standard rooms, there are two views available, woods and courtyard (which overlooks the area of the waterfall and/or the feature pool). The Woods or Courtyard Views have a standard set up with 2 queen beds, or the option of 1 queen size bed and bunk beds. Junior Suites, with a bedroom, living area with a pullout sofa and bathroom are also available. Full suites include the Honeymoon Room, Vice-Presidential Suite and Presidential Suite.

From Our MouseForLess Members:
MouseForLess Interesting Facts about the resort:
Very similar to Animal Kingdom Lodge in construction and appeal although the theming is completely different. - Betty L. Bridgman
The smallest of the Deluxe Resorts This hotel is very similar in design to the Yellowstone Lodge in Yellowstone National Park. I was amazed at how much they look alike. - Debbie Kuhn
MouseForLess Room Request Tips:
We had 4th floor woods view overlooking the WL Villas. It was very quiet and relaxing sitting out on the balcony. - Betty L. Bridgman
A room overlooking the courtyard is fabulous. The 5th floor had a great view and noise was not bad at all. - Debbie Kuhn
Get a room with bunk beds--our kids fully entertained themselves anytime we were in the room by going up and down the ladder and playing "tree house". Also some of the woods views overlook a little pond with ducks--another great source of entertainment for the kids! - Melinda Urbanawiz
We were on the concierge level and got a room which overlooked a parking area. While we weren't thrilled with the view, or lack thereof, we were so excited to find that we had an EXCELLENT view of the WISHES fireworks from our balcony.? It was just like having our own fireworks show. - Mary Mahnke
MouseForLess Hidden Treasures: The wildlife is amazing and so tame. The kids have the best fun getting to observe them up close. We had two momma ducks with babies that even went swimming with us in the pool! We saw a rabbit eating out of the hand of another guest. If you have little ones that love animals, they will definitely get to see them up close and personal. - Betty L. Bridgman
Check immediately upon check-in to see if there are any available spots for the flag raising. Wow the view from the roof is wonderful and one of our best memories was raising the flags our last morning at the lodge. If you happen to be at the lodge at night go to the beach and watch the Electrical Light Parade. Also Wishes fireworks or MVMCP Or MNSSH fireworks are also seen from the beach. - Debbie Kuhn
If you get picked to be the flag family, you may be offered the continental breakfast on the concierge level afterward. - Melinda Urbanawiz
MouseForLess Tips for Romance:
There are sitting areas throughout the resort and on the different floors that are tucked away. A couple floors above the entrance is a very nice sitting area with a cozy fireplace, couch and two chairs. It's nice to kick back, cuddle up and take in the magic of the resort!! - Betty L. Bridgman
Take a walk along the trail to Fort Wilderness at daybreak or in the early evening, a beautiful and quiet setting and you almost never see anyone else along the path. - Melinda Urbanawiz
MouseForLess Tips for Families:
If you children like excitement you definitely want to eat at Whispering Canyons. The staff is hilarious, the kids get to color (as do the adults) and you might even be asked to ride the stick pony!! - Betty L. Bridgman
The pool here is fabulous for kids. Also their are two hot tubs. One is super hot and the other just warm (much better for small children) Roaring Forks has lots of great food choices for families. Be sure to get a refillable mug. - Debbie Kuhn
Food court food was cheap and very good!. Path from WL to Ft. Wilderness is a nice walk, very shaded, and gave us the opportunity to see Ft. Wilderness and that area. - Mary Mahnke
MouseForLess Tips for Large Travel Groups:
If you plan to meet in the lobby, the side of the lobby near WCC had a bunch of couches and rarely had anyone sitting in them (except at dinner when WCC was busy)--the side near the front desk was a little busier. - Melinda Urbanawiz
MouseForLess Tips for Guests with Special needs:
Elevators available as well as wide paths leading to boat dock. - Debbie Kuhn
MouseForLess Tips for WDW Newbies:
Ask the desk for information about daily activities. They have many going on throughout the day including an early morning tour about the history of the resort. - Betty L. Bridgman
MouseForLess Tips for Budget Travelers:
Again, the tours and activities they have at the resort are FREE so be sure to ask the desk about them. - Betty L. Bridgman
The Roaring Forks breakfast platters can easily be shared by 2 people. - Debbie Kuhn
The sandwiches at Roaring forks are wonderful! If you go before the grill has closed for the evening, you can get some amazing hot sandwiches, and after the grill is closed they have some wrapped up for purchase. - Melinda Urbanawiz
MouseForLess Tips for Luxury Travelers:
Definitely take advantage of the concierge lounge. It had free beer and wine as well as very nice hot and cold appetizers which changed daily. The tables surround the atrium of the hotel and provide a nice view of the hotel lobby and fireplace, while being secluded. Tables by the window also offer a nice view of the geyser. There is also a big screen tv in one area that has a couch and chair to watch sports or whatever. During the early evening appetizers, you can enjoy the news or whatever on that tv while enjoying your appetizers. - Mary Mahnke
Use valet parking as it is a bit of a hike to get your car. - Melinda Urbanawiz
