Caribbean Beach Resort
MFL Caribbean Beach Resort Information Page
WDW Website: Caribbean Beach Resort

Submitted By: Dennette in Oregon

Name Of Resort: Caribbean Beach

Date Of Stay: July 14th - 20th 2008

Type Of Resort: Disney Moderate

Rate Paid During Your Stay: Our daughter is in the Disney College Program... so the discount on the room was 50%

Room Sleeps : 4

Please Rate The Following On A Scale From 1-10 (10 being the best):

Theming: 6- not our favorite for themed resorts
Room Size: 7- rooms are small- about the same as Value
Amenities: 9
Quality: 8
Cleanliness: 10- Disney Clean :)
Transportation: 9- buses came often and this resort does have 5 or 6 stops but we never had issues w/buses being overcrowded
Recreation: 8
Value: 10

Over All Rating: I'd say if I was paying full price I would rather stay at a value and save some $$. The lake in the middle of the resort was fun and their is a resident alligator which my daughter enjoyed.

Don't Miss: We don't spend a whole lot of time at the resorts, so I really don't have a don't miss. We did enjoy the walk around the lake on the board walk- got some great photos!

Room Location Suggestion: We stayed in a standard room... way away from everything, which was perfect for us because it was quiet for our sleeping in! Can't recall room number.

The Mouse For Less Tip: With all the different stops be sure you are catching the shuttles closer to your room. Example- staying in Jamaica may not mean your closest shuttle stop is IN Jamaica- just depends on where your room is located. This is a massive resort!

Comments: No matter where you stay it will be fabulous! Decide how much time you and your family truly spend at the resort and make your decision from there. It it is very little time then perhaps a stay at one of the values is a better use of your money. And if your family size is larger, get 2 rooms!!

Name Of Resort: Caribbean Beach

Date Of Stay: May 30th - June 2nd 2008

Type Of Resort: Disney Moderate

Rate Paid During Your Stay: May to August passholder rate plus dining. The total for room (water view) and dining package was $788 for 2 people for 4 days.

Room Sleeps : They say 5, we only had 2 in the room and it worked out great. We had 2 beds so we were able to use the 2nd bed to put our suitcase and all that stuff we never have enough space for in the hotel room.

Please Rate The Following On A Scale From 1-10 (10 being the best):

Theming: 10 (not overtly Disney like the values, but gorgeous!!)
Room Size: 8 (I seldom think rooms are big enough, but this one was a good size and very comfortable for 2).
Amenities: 8
Quality: 10
Cleanliness: 10
Transportation: 8
Recreation: 8
Value: 10

Over All Rating: 9

Don't Miss: The beautiful pathways, walking on the beach, hammocks to lounge in, picnic tables.

Room Location Suggestion: We stayed in Trinidad North which is very close to the Old Port Royale. I think just about every room looks like it would be great, they all appear to have nice gardens and lots of gorgeous landscaping to explore.

The Mouse For Less Tip: The best one that I have discovered is "bounce back rates"!! We have been 4 times this year and each time weve gotten bounce back offers in our rooms!! Weve changed more reservations than should be allowed LOL because we keep finding better rates or good rates for better resorts.

Comments: We loved this resort!! It is so peaceful and just beautiful. We suspected that the fact that the main pool is under construction has made it less popular this year, because only 2 building were occupied that weekend. We really enjoyed the landscaping and walking on the beach. The staff were so great, the concierge was awesome and I am excited about returing here in October for our DDs birthday, the TOT run and the Halloween party.

The rooms have a divider between the sleeping area and the vanity area, which is really nice for a family!!

Rate Paid During Your Stay:$149 per night, Florida resident rate; seen on the Disney web site, as well as the MFL website.

Over All Rating: 9.5

Don't Miss: Beach area, hammocks, picnic tables, walking trails.

Room Location Suggestion: Our stay was in Trinidad South; we were close to a bus stop, but the setting was very peaceful and quiet. If you use the food court frequently, I would suggest requesting a room closer to it.

The Mouse For Less Tip: We love the Disney "moderates." The quiet location, as well as the room size, suit our family needs well. Refrigerators are included in the price of the room. Double sinks are a plus, also the curtain separating the bath/bedroom area.

Comments: Beautiful landscaping; bus service was amazing, no long waits; very clean room with towel animals. We had a great time!

Don't Miss: the beach and hammock! My son loved swinging on that.

Room Location Suggestion: Suggestion: we stayed in Martinique. We specifically asked for a first floor room near the food court and bus stop and ours was perfect. The food court was one building over, the bus stop was one block over, the beach was behind us and the pool was another building over!

The Mouse For Less Tip: The food court had a good selection and the grab and go there offered lighter far if you just want a snack. I also liked the condiment bar which made a plain sandwich feel special :)

Comments: I don't think I'll stay at this resort again. This was our second try here. It just didn't have the Disney feel about it and our beds were HORRIBLE!!! It was like they were on boards or something. You could not move AT ALL without them squeaking and groaning! I had my 11 mo old son in his pack n play beside me and if I tried to roll over or move or anything my bed creaked so loudly it woke him up! Needless to say I (and my family) did not sleep well our entire trip! Also, we had some trouble with the busses that I've never experienced before. One day the bus pulled up to the stop. It had CB on it's sign so we thought it was an internal bus and we kept sitting. Then he closed his doors, pulled away and THEN changed his sign to EPCOT which was where we wanted to go! We were so upset. This happened several times to us. On our last day at MK we were waiting at the CB bus stop and the bus pulled in and just sat there for more than five mins with his doors closed while our feet ached :( A bus pulled into the other stop (not CB) but said CB on his sign. He waited a few mins and then left. Finally our bus opened his doors but his sign said HS. I said, are you going to CB? He said yes but his sign wouldn't work. I wonder if all the busses had this problem????
