Saratoga Springs Resort
MFL Saratoga Springs Resort Information Page
WDW Website: Saratoga Springs Resort

Submitted By: Carol Vandiver

Name Of Resort: Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

Date Of Stay: December 2007

Type Of Resort: Disney Vacation Club

Rate Paid During Your Stay: We didn't have DVC points. I'm not sure of the rate we paid.

Room Sleeps : 4 (A King Sized Bed and a pull out sofa.)

Please Rate The Following On A Scale From 1-10 (10 being the best):

Theming: 9
Room Size: 10++
Amenities: 9
Quality: 10
Cleanliness: 10
Transportation: We didn't use the transportation.
Recreation: 10 - We didn't use the recreation but they have so much available.
Value: 10

Over All Rating: 10

Don't Miss: Walking around the entire resort. I didn't do this until after I had checked out and I wish we'd had time to use some of the facilities and enjoy the beautiful resort!

Room Location Suggestion: We were in The Springs, upstairs on an end and had virtually no noise at all. It was close to the parking area and the bus stop.

The Mouse For Less Tip: Bring breakfast and snack foods. With the kitchen, you could whip up some quick morning food with no problem. You can pack less too since there is a washer & dryer.

Comments: The only drawback I found with this resort was it's location. It's really far from most everything. We had a car so we didn't have to use Disney Transportation and even with that, we spent a lot of time, DRIVING to where we needed to go.

Type Of Resort: Disney Vacation Club

Rate Paid During Your Stay: It cost us our points in DVC.

Room Sleeps : 8 but since we had little ones when the last person in our group showed up there was room for her too.

Please Rate The Following On A Scale From 1-10 (10 being the best):

Theming: 10
Room Size: 10
Amenities: 9
Quality: 10
Cleanliness: 10
Transportation: 9
Recreation: Didn't use.
Value: 10

Over All Rating: 10

Don't Miss: Walking through the hallway of the main building towards the Turf Club and looking at the Jockey Jerseys (especially the one with the Mickey heads).

Room Location Suggestion: We were in Springs room 3435 which was on the fourth floor. We were a few steps from the bus stop and across the street from the main building.

The Mouse For Less Tip: We spent some of our snacks from the DDP to pay for breakfast cakes and butter and milk. We were ready for anything the little ones dished out.

Comments: We stay in SSR every trip after trying a different resort first. We switched so our large group would be together for the trip. We had a two bedroom villa which is really a nice thing to have. Since we have a washer and dryer we pack less clothes than normal. Anyone looking for a spacious way to stay with a large group should look into this it is really worthwhile.

Type Of Resort: Disney Vacation Club

Rate Paid During Your Stay: Used DVC points.

Room Sleeps : It was a 2BR villa that sleeps 8 plus one child under age 3 in a crib.

Don't Miss: The main pool, adorable kiddie area.

Room Location Suggestion: One of the middle two Paddock buildings. They are close to a bus stop, the playground, and the quiet pool.

The Mouse For Less Tip: The well-stocked kitchen in 1-, 2-, and 3- bedroom villas is a real money-saver when it comes to keeping everyone fed.

Comments: We really enjoy the villas at SSR. They are clean, and you can park near your room, unlike other DVC resorts. Although our villa faced the playground and bus stop, noise was not a problem. Because this resort is so large, I would recommend spending time determining what amenities are important to you so that you can make the room request to suit your needs. Do you want to be near the main pool or a quiet pool? Do you have small children who would like the playground? Love DTD? Request to be near the walkover.

Don't Miss: Honestly can not think of one thing, although we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Location Suggestion: *sore point*, we requested The Springs and upon arrival were given The Paddock (still fine), with no explanation of location by the cast member. (so strange since we have always had great service at so many other resorts in WDW).

The Mouse For Less Tip: If you have a car, the 24hour Goodings supermarket is a very short trip.

Comments: Resort walkways could use better signs, there are maps, but they do not include a "you are here" location, so in a resort this large you could easily get confused the first time out, we managed to master the walkway to and from DTD Marketplace and Westside after the first day.

Date Of Stay: October, 2006

Type Of Resort: Disney Vacation Club

This is a beautiful resort, we stayed there for three nights this past October. We too, were located in The Paddock. My advice for anyone wanting to stay here is to request The Springs section, which is a stones throw away from the amenities, which are just wonderful.

There is an internal resort shuttle, which I highly recommend if you are staying in the other sections, and have to travel with others. Yes, the signs are difficult to comprehend and Bell Services is a little lax.

When we used the Magical Express last October, we landed at 1:00 p.m., got to our resort at 2:15 p.m., saw our luggage on the racks at Bell Services, but, did not receive our luggage in our suite until 6:30 p.m. After many phone calls.

I would only stay there if I were guaranteed The Springs section. And, we are really glad that we didn't buy into DVC with this as our home resort. We were prepared to buy into it, but at the time we were interested, only the Saratoga was available. We're going to hold off a while yet.
