General Tips:
Off season, I was able to call ahead and got a reservation the next day. I have walked up in the morning and got reservations for same day. Never got reservations by walking up at Lunch.
The Mouse For Less Tips:
We shared a plate and were not charged extra fee. Blue Bayou gave us an extra plate to split. Monte Cristo is such a rich sandwich that splitting it still filled my wife and I up. This actually made the meal cheaper than the Tomorrowland Terrace for 5 people. Plus the food was much better.

Okay for Couples:
Yes, very romantic. The atmosphere makes it feel very much as if you are alone at your table.
Be Sure To Try:
The Beef Short ribs. The meat was succulent, practically fell off the bone. The gumbo is without equal, and explosion of flavor in every bite. The prime rib was juicy and tender and very filling.
General Tip:
It is very highly recommended that you make a reservation so you get in the door. Also, if you can hold out and not die from starvation...make a reservation for a little later in the night. It pays off.
The Mouse For Less Tip:
Make sure you tell the staff about a special event, they're very thoughtful and might surprise you with a special treat.
Extra Comment:
We plan on visiting Disneyland and Blue Bayou every year on our anniversary, because the service, food, and atmosphere were worth the one a year splurge!

What:
We ate lunch here, because we'd heard that the lunch menu was cheaper. Although the food was wonderful, it was REALLY expensive. We ordered 2 Monte Cristo plates, 3 mac'n'cheese kids' plates, 2 sodas, and 1 dessert to share and the total bill came to $91 without the tip. We asked to be seated near the water, and we arrived really early, but the host was very short and told us he didn't have anything available. Our waiter was great, and the food was delicious, but I'm not sure we'd do Blue Bayou again. It was like any other restaurant if you don't sit near the water.

Okay for Children: OK for children, but this is not a character restaurant and is most appropriate for older children (teens)
Okay for Couples:OK for couples; this is a fairly romantic atmosphere, classic night bayou-side dining with all of the night sounds.
Be Sure To Try: The Monte Cristo sandwich has always been our favorite, but is not available at dinner. Would say that you cannot go wrong regardless of what you might order.
General Tip: Ask to sit by the water; the wait might be a bit longer, but not that long.
MouseForLess Tip: Has the Annual Pass discount, but you have to visit Disneyland like five times a year to make the pass worthwhile. If you can do that or if you are a southern California resident, the pass is a must.
Extra Comments: We have been going to Disneyland for the past 25 years, even now that the kids have moved on; the Blue Bayou has always been a must highlight, and is usually the last thing that we do before leaving the park.

MouseForLess Tip: Try the jazz kitchen, less money and alot more food. Its in Downtown Disney and they accept reservations too!!
Extra Comments: The only way I am going back there ever again is if the prices ever go back to reasonable ones and the food taste like it used too. I am very dissapointed at this restaurant and it use to be what I looked forward to everyear for our New Years dinner.

Be Sure To Try: The rolls are great when they are warm. The jambalaya had just the right amount of spice.
General Tip: We made reservations over the phone a day in advance and they had an opening for 2:30. Reserve as early as possible although this did not help us too much.
Extra Comments: We were told over the phone to go early to try to get "water front" seating but we were turned away till our exact reservation time. When we returned they had us sit and wait another 15 minutes and then told us it would be an additional 20 minutes for the water. We opted for any seat and then noticed that walk ups were being sat before us! We had to say something twice and were finally sat at a four top right near the entrance/restrooms/bus boy area.
As far as the food.... the mahi mahi tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour. The prime rib was ALL fat and was not worth the $30.
I remember the Blue Bayou being a lot better as a child, now its not worth the time and money.

Okay for Children: No, I would have to say not really. This is more of an adult restaurant. I am sure it would be okay with kids who are a little older like 12 or so, but any younger it would ruin the atmosphere.
Okay for Couples: Yes, ABSOLUTELY. My husband and I make reservations way in advance so we can eat there on our little trips. We enjoy the quiet so much, it is very romantic.
Be Sure To Try: Be sure to try the prime rib, the chicken is super yummy and the Buckaneer Beef Tips are outstanding. They just flake off the bone. The potatos and veggies are cooked to perfection.
General Tip: Again, no small children. It ruins the atmosphere for other guests, and when coming be sure to make a reservation in advance through Disney Dine.
TheMouseForLess Tip: When it comes to the monies, if you are on a budget, I would recommend to share a plate, they are fairly pricey and to share a plate is only 5 dollars and your plate would be up to 30. So plan on spending.
Extra Comments: If you want to sit next to the water, request this. It may be a longer wait, but its fun and worth it.

you get (Monte Cristo for $21.99, when it was $11.99 only 4
years ago!!!!!!). And, with the new menu, the only available
meals are multi-course and not that great. They also no longer
serve many of the fabulous items they used to have such as the
blackened chicken caesar salad. It is unlikely we will go back
until they change things. Which is sad, it used to be a really
magical place in the park.

Okay for Children: We don't have any children but from observing in the restaurant, some people seem to be okay with their kids there. Some not so much. Probably too fine dining for the little ones.
Okay for Couples: Yes!!! We have eaten at the Bayou since before we were married and will continue to eat there. It's our favorite place in the park to eat.
Be Sure To Try: The Mahi Mahi, Prime Rib and definitely the Short Ribs, super good!!
General Tips: Again, maybe not a good idea for children but fun atmosphere for them. If planning to go, plan on spending, I think people tend to under think their budget for this place.
TheMouseForLess Tip: If going for lunch, try sharing a plate, that is a great way to save and have a good portion control.

Okay for Children: Yes, but the very limited children's menu makes it risky.
Okay for Couples: Yes. Very romantic atmosphere, but the new menu is disappointing.
Be Sure To Try: Not much. Food quality and selection is very disappointing. We've eaten at Blue Bayou every trip since 1992, but won't eat there again until things change.
General Tips: Reserve online up to 60 days in advance. It's sometimes possible to get walk in seating, but you can wait a long time.
TheMouseForLess Tip: Disney VISA food discount does *NOT* apply at Blue Bayou.
Extra Comments: As noted above, we loved BB for 15 years, but the new prices really high and new food is dreadful. The white asparagus was bland. The broccoli was undercooked and fishy. No bleu cheese dressing for a wedge salad? Come on.

Okay for Children: "Yes" the kids had fun but did not really like their food. My daughter would not eat her mac&Cheese and after tasting it I totally agreed with her decision.
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure To Try: My husband really liked his chicken, I thought the pork chops were just okay. The sauces were overpowering and the meat seemed to be of mediocre quality.
TheMouseForLess Tip: I do hear that sharing a meal is a good option as each person will receive a salad and two sides; only the entree is split.
Extra Comments: This was something we had always wanted to try. That being said, I probably will not do it again unless my husband insists. I really did not care for the food. If you are trying to plan a visit I would add $3 to the entree prices listed and $1 for the children's prices.

Okay for Couples: Quite nice for couples romantic I think by the water seating
Be Sure To Try: Try the peppered prime rib of beef yummo
General Tips: I made the reservation 2 months before going to Disney to be sure I got a reservation
TheMouseForLess Tip: We were hungry and the children ate all that came to them and had dessert.
Extra Comments: The dinner was relaxing. I didn't feel rushed even though they were very busy. Nice time was had by all.

Okay for Children: Yes. There were a lot of kids, actually. and they got to wear cool menu hats.
Okay for Couples: ABSOLUTELY! my boyfriend and I have been wanting to eat at the Blue Bayou for months, so as a surprise, I made reservations for our anniversary. The atmosphere was wonderful...very dim and lit by candles, Chinese lanterns, and the lights from the balcony. I guess I should say to try and avoid the tables nearest the kitchen, restrooms, and lobby, but I'm sure that's a given.
Be Sure To Try: Their side potatoes! I honestly think that was better than the chicken and the prime rib, but i'm a big fan of potatoes. =] oh, and their soup.
General Tips: Sit by the water or at least fairly close to it. And try to save room for dessert. I wanted to try the flying dutchman cookie boat, but I was stuffed.
TheMouseForLess Tip: You might want to ask whomever you're with to get something you both want, and get something else you want to try, then share off each other's plate. It's fun and romantic to share two entrees with a date.
Extra Comments: I love the Blue Bayou. It was everything my boyfriend and I expected...totally worth the money.

General Tips: If you do a late lunch, early dinner you can get right in. We could not get a reservation but they could seat us at 2:45 p.m. as a walk in.
TheMouseForLess Tip: Don't forget to use your Annual Passport for discount. I forgot and would have saved $5
Extra Comments: I have heard good and bad things about Blue Bayou but our experience was just short of fantastic!!
Who: The Cahills

Okay for Children: Yes. There were plenty of families around us. The children's menus are written on a pirate's hats, which the children can wear and take with them.
Okay for Couples: Sitting by the water is very romantic. Even at high noon it's dimly lit and very romantic.
Be Sure To Try: Everyone says the Monte Cristo is it, but I thought it was an awful lot of batter. I wouldn't really call it a sandwich. It was definitely worth the try, but now that I've tried it, I won't be trying it again.
General Tips: I made our PS for the first available lunch time. We were the first seated. It's a neat feeling to be walking through an empty restaurant!
TheMouseForLess Tip: Go during lunch! The menu is cheaper, the food is just as plentiful, and it always feels like night in there anyways!
Extra Comments: All in all, this place is a must try!
