French Market Restaurant Menu

French Market

Who: Valcarce

Where: French Market Restaurant

When: December 1, 2008 (review submitted March 17, 2009)

What: Lunch - I got a Pasta Gratin with sauteed vegetables and a large bottle of water and a Dreams Dessert, Marcel got the pasta gratin and a mint julep, Lorien got the toddler meal which came with a free Nightmare Before Christmas ornament, Grandpa got a fruit salad and an apple tart, and Grandpa got the roast beef.

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 4 - My husband and I both loved the pasta gratin
Service: 3 - cafeteria style; the CM's behind the counter did a good job.
Atmosphere:
Okay for Children: Yes, especially if they like trains
Okay for Couples: Yes, you can get a quiet table away from the crowds if that's what you're looking for.

Be Sure to Try: my husband raved about his mint julep, but I find those things annoyingly sweet.

General tips: We had a fairly early lunch; our receipt says 11:21 AM, and it was very quiet and uncrowded.

Extra Comments: We were finishing our lunch just as the Royal Street Bachelors were setting up. I guess they start at noon. They are really good!

Dont miss - the desserts are all ridiculously big. My parents shared the apple tart, and Marcel, Lorien and I shared the Dreams Dessert - and we're dessert people, but honestly, I don't know how they expect one human being to finish that thing!

Who: DeCambra

Where: French Market Restaurant

When: October 2007

What: Dinner - My husband ordered the rice and beans & cheesecake and I ordered the fried chicken, salad and apple pie

Approximate Price of Entrees: about $15 a person but we got dessert and salad

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 5
Atmosphere: 4
Okay for Children: Excellent for children, they offer grapes or salad instead of fries or potatoes if you wish, plus they have milk, not just soda.
Okay for Couples: Excellent for couples, they have jazz bands playing and it's right in the middle of the rides
Be Sure to Try: The fried chicken is DELICIOUS! Plus they were able to accomodate me with mashed potatoes instead of fries.

General tips: They drown the salad in dressing so be sure to keep an eye out, but the Ranch dressing is the most delicious dressing I've ever tasted. And if you see a table grab it right away, this place fills up quick!!!

MouseForLess tips: If you get the fried chicken I would split it. They give you 3 huge pieces of fried chicken. I ate there when I was 6 months pregnant and I still couldn't finish all the food. Also, they don't care if you're an adult and get a kids meal, they're just the right amount.

Extra Comments: an A+ for this restaurant!!! Usually a long line though so get in line a.s.a.p. and have everyone else get a table. Since it is in the middle of everything if you don't like noise I wouldn't suggest eating here. It's right next to the bathroom and the train and the haunted mansion.

Who: The Valcarce Family

Where: French Market (New Orleans Square)

When: October 1st, 2007

What: Lunch - chicken with rice and beans, seafood fettucine, kid macaroni, free Jack Skellington coin necklace, 2 mint juleps, milk.

Approximate Price of Entrees: $34.91

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5 - the fettucine was OUTSTANDING - the kind of meal that makes you say "I never expected something this good at a theme park!"
Service: 4 - buffeteria style, no waiters or anything.
Atmosphere: 4- outdoor seating under umbrellas, and the Royal Street Bachelors, a groovy Dixieland band, played.
Okay for Children: Yes - very kid friendly food.
Okay for Couples: Sure - either sit "out of the way" overlooking the New Orleans Square train station or up near the stage to hear the band.
Be Sure to Try: I'm telling you - the fettucine was outstanding. Also, my Mom ate the apple pie and said it was great.

General tips: I'm telling you - the fettucine was outstanding. Also, my Mom ate the apple pie and said it was great.

MouseForLess tips: I couldn't finish my fettucine - I could easily have shared that plate, but I'm not a huge eater.

Extra Comments: This might be my favorite Disneyland restaurant because of the entertainment and variety of food.

Who: Jennifer

Where: French Market (New Orleans Square)

When: July 2003

What: dinner (counter service)

Approximate Price of Entrees: $13 (royal fried chicken with salad, red beans and rice and a beverage)

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 4
Service: 4
Atmosphere: 4 (outdoor seating with a live jazz band performing at times)
Okay for Children: yes
Okay for Couples: yes
Be Sure to Try: mint juleps

General tips: Entrees come with salads, making this was a very satisfying dinner.

Dollarless tips: If you have a Deluxe or Premium Annual Pass, be sure to ask for the AP discount. You can refill your beverages for free, just present your receipt.

Extra Comments: Keep your eyes peeled for the resident park cats. The two times I have spotted Disneyland cats, it was at this restaurant.
