Coral Reef

Who: Holden

Where: The Coral Reef

When: 02/09

What: Dinner: steak, seafood, and a kids pizza.

Approximate Price of Entrees: $120 for a family of 3

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 4
Service: 4
Atmosphere: 3
Okay for Children: "Yes" My son loved watching the fish swim in the tank. We also had the pleasure of seeing a bunch of divers who took the diving excursion. The divers stopped to play games with the kids sitting up against the glass.
Okay for Couples: "No". The restaurant itself is very romantic looking at first glance, but once you sit down, the main problem of the restaurant quickly becomes noticeable. The stadium setup of the table and the glass wall for the tank make for a very noisy restaurant. It is extremely loud and therefore not good for couples looking for a quiet dining experience.
Be Sure to Try: I had the steak and it was really tender and juicy. My wife had the catch of the day which was the Florida black grouper. She loved it.

General tips: If you go try to sit down in the front row in front of the glass. Go around 4 or 5 because that is when divers are in the tank during their scuba excursion.

TheMouseForLess Tip: The main dish portion is great. The steak I had was quite large. However, the side dishes are quite small. The potato side dish I had was six small red potatoes cut in half and laid in a circle under the steak. My wife had a large portion of fish and the rice that came with it was more than the potatoes I had.

Extra Comments: Loud but fun. An excellent place to eat but is kind of pricy unless you have the deluxe dining plan like we did.

Who: Cooper Family of 5, me, DH, DD15, DD11, DS6

Where: Coral Reef in Living Seas in Epcot

When: Sunday 9/21/08

What: dinner. 5 ordered the New York Strip Steak, DS6 ordered cheese pizza w/ fries.

Approximate Price of Entrees: Free dining Plan. 18% Tip = $39.58 ($40.00) Would have been $273.70 incl. tip.

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 4
Service: 2 (we were in there 2 hours, much of which was spent waiting for the waitress for drinks and then the check).
Atmosphere:
Okay for Children: Yes, there are 3 big aquarium windows.
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure to Try: The steak was pretty good. The butterscotch creme brulee was awesome! I think this is a must have!

General tips: We sat in the back row and could not see the aquarium without raising up. If you could get a closer table that would be really nice to watch the fish and turtles and sharks.

Extra Comments: This restaurant was very busy. It took the waitress forever to come to our table for the very first time. Then we had to wait everytime we needed another drink refill. Then we waited even longer for her to bring the check. She was nice, just slow. Not much choice on the kids menu, pizza, grilled fish, Mahi Mahi, grilled chicken breast or mac'n cheese. Kids appetizers that come with the plan are carrot & celery sticks or soup of the day.

Coral Reef

Who: Kjeldsen

Where: Coral Reef The Living Seas

When: January 13th 2008

What: Dinner ; Filet Mignon and Catfish

Approximate Price of Entrees: $35/person, total of $85 for two

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 5
Atmosphere: 5+
Okay for Children: Yes!
Okay for Couples: Absolutely
Be Sure to Try: Their drink selection!

General tips: We called far in advance to place our reservations but a family of four before us came without and made it in without much wait time. Try and request a seat near the tank - it is quite the view!

Dollarless tips: It's pretty pricey here so we skipped appetizers... other than that, good luck :)

Extra Comments: We are dying to come back here this summer because of the great food, our really helpful and cheerful waitress and the unbelievable fish tank you eat with. We have been disheartened to find out that for the Magic Your Way Dining Plan, the Coral Reef is now 2 points, so spend wisely.

Coral Reef

Who: Burgard

Where: The Coral Reef

When: Oct., 2007 (submitted 7/23/09)

What: Dinner:

Approximate Price of Entrees: $ 35.00 per person (I think, it was 2 yrs ago)

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 4
Atmosphere:5
Okay for Children:"Yes" The kids loved the fish tank.
Okay for Couples: "Yes"
Be Sure to Try: the steak

General tips: Definitely sit up front. We had one of the large booths, as we had 9 people in our party.

TheMouseForLess Tip: We were on the Dining plan (free). Thank goodness for that, as it can be quite pricey! But, it's worth it.

Extra Comments: My daughter-in-law had a "Special" treat for us for our 40th Anniversary. She somehow sent our wedding picture, and pictures of our kids and grankids ahead to them. When the waiter brought the menus, WE had two special ones with the pictures and "Congratulations mom and dad on your Anniversary printed inside. PLUS, a Scuba Diver swam up to the window with a special sign..Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad, wWe Love You (it had all the kids names on it! What a Great surprise!! A dinner to reember, that's for sure. We are going back to DW this Oct. I wanted to do the same thing for them for their Anniversary, but I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED to hear that they don't do that anymore!!?? I don't know why though!

Who: Buxbaum Family

Where: Coral Reef The Living Seas

When: August 7, 2007

What: Lunch I had the appetizer 'Land' (double portion instead of Sea and Land ( i don't eat seafood..)
My entree - NY Strip My Desert - The Chocolate Wave

the food was delicious. Everyone in our party of 6 said it was the best food we had our whole vacation. However the best part for me was 1) my son's face when he saw the menu specically designed for him and his birthday and 2) My son's reaction when he saw scuba divers in the tank ahead of us. Then the incredulous look on everyone's face when the divers came to the glass in front of us and directed the restaurant to sing happy birthday to him :)

Approximate Price of Entrees: my entree was 22.00 - but we were on the DDP and used 1 TS each

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 4
Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: Yes - the kids loved the fish in the tank and the typical choices of kids food
Okay for Couples: Yes this would be.. it is a large restaurant but the tables are set up so it doesn't feel large.
Be Sure to Try: The Chocolate Wave is to die for :)

Dollarless tips: On the DDP this is one of the best deals.

Extra Comments: You gotta book. the line was out to Nemo for people wanting to get in, and this was at 12:30 pm!

Who: The Nuzzo Family

Where: The Coral Reef

When: 4/24/04

What: dinner

Approximate Price of Entrees: $64.00 for 2 adults - 8.24 child

Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 5
Service: 5
Atmosphere:
Okay for Children: Yes - definately watched the fish and divers all night.
Okay for Couples: Yes
Be Sure to Try: the South African Lobster Tail! Wow, worth every penny! OH OH, and the Chocolate Wave. Chocolate lava cake with a white chocolate center, served with chocolate sorbet on the side. I was in heaven!

General tips: Definately get PS for this restaurant. We went with friends who work for WDW, and they were able to get us in :-)

Dollarless tips: Ask about the Pairings. This is not a dollarless restaurant, but this can help. You choose two entrees, and pay only $13 for the lesser priced entree! We had Filet Mignon and South African Lobster Tail. The other couple had the Lobster Tail and the Grilled Mahi Mahi

Extra Comments: Outstanding!
