Tammy - December 2001

First let me say I pray everyone had a blessed Christmas.

As part of my Christmas gift, my hubby and daughter took me to Rainforest Cafe for lunch and then to the Grand Floridian to look around. As you know I asked everyone's opinion about security when you are not staying on property. I tried it and had no problems at all. Thanks to all who responded.

We left here at home at about 12:45. We had reservations at Rainforest for 2:00. It was cold today and rainy. We got there and the parking lot was full, but there wasn't that many people there. Britnee rode the train and then we went to the Rainforest and people were lined up at the elephant. Duke finally got up there right about 2:00 and we went straight back. We sat in the gorilla room. The waitress mentioned that if we wanted our "points" she would scan the card. I know in the welcome letter it mentions the more you use the card, the more rewards you get, so I suppose that's what she was talking about. Food was great as always and came to $29.82 for all 3 of us with our $10 certificate.

We left and headed for the bus. Got to the Magic Kingdom and headed for the monorail. We came and went as we pleased and no one said a word. We didn't go through security at all.

The Grand Floridian wasn't as "grand" as I had made it in my mind. Don't get me wrong, it was beautiful. But just as you do when you make something worse in your mind, you can also make things too big. The tree was pretty and oh so big. Took some photos. Britnee bought a Mickey bellhop beanie carrying a suitcase that says Grand Floridian. Took the monorail back to Magic Kingdom and wasn't sure to stay on or walk back to the buses in front of the Magic Kingdom. I told Duke I would step out and ask, but there wasn't a CM anywhere! So we walked to the buses, and no bus to Downtown Disney. I asked a CM that was standing by the exit at Magic Kingdom and she said take the boat over to the Ticket and Transporatiaon and get a bus from there. So off we went. Duke says "I can't believe you didn't know, you of all people." (He always tells people I know more about Walt Disney than Walt Disney. I say of course, he died along time ago) Anyway we did get back to DD.

Went to the World of Disney store and Britnee bought a Minnie beanie (the one with the pink platforms) and Duke bought me the Magic in the Streets Parade Memories CD and a Ears to You 2002 shirt for Christmas. I'm listening to it know as I write this. I haven't got to see any of the new parades, but I'll know the songs when I do!

PS I wrote this after I finsihed the piece of Snickers cheesecake that I brought home from the Gourmet Pantry (yum-yum)
