Stacey's WDW Trip Report - October 2002

Day 3. We slept in a bit this morning and were on the bus to MGM by 9:45. It was going to be extremely hot today and by 10 a.m. I was already breaking a sweat. We went on TGMR first and then on to Sounds Dangerous. My DS was very anxious to go on this ride. I think she has a secret crush on Drew. We did an early lunch at "Catalina Eddie's" (?) and then did the Backlot Tour. Sweat was just pouring off at this point. Then DS dragged me over to RnRRC. There were NO LINES. Where were the lines when I needed them.?? There was no more time to mentally prepare. We just walked up and right on! This ride scared me to death!!! She tried to tell me that you're not even aware that you're upside down until it's over. LIAR!!!! I knew, my stomach knew and by the way I screamed, my DS knew. After that I tried to focus on singing "Dude Looks Like a Lady" just to get me through, but it didn't help. I shook for a long time after this ride - all the way over to ToT. She gave me no break in between. My love of all things Disney is going to be the death of me yet! ToT actually wasn't bad. I kind of lost the sensation of when you were dropping and when we were going back up. I just screamed a lot. The picture of us has us both with big smiles on our faces so I guess I liked it. I wouldn't go on again right away or anything, but it was cool.

After that we left and hopped a boat over to Yacht & Beach because DS assured me that we were allowed to. Again, LIAR! When we got out to the pool, we were in formed by the towel guard that we weren't allowed to be there. Fine, I just figured we'd leave. Wrong. DS insisted that we stay and dragged me down to the other end of the pool. Now, a relaxing afternoon has me feeling like a criminal on America's Most Wanted. A few minutes later, the towel guard was patrolling so we had to jump in the pool. That pool is huge. I'm not a very good swimmer but I ended up having to stay in it for an hour to escape detection. Then I got swept up in the lazy river and lost my DS under a bridge someplace! Looking back it was kind of comical but I wouldn't recommend anyone else trying this. When we finally got out, we went and showered and changed in the locker room and went for drinks before our PS at Cape May's. I had my first ever Martini (watermelon - Yummy). Dinner at CM's is always fun. Our waiter was great and thought it was funny that we kept drawing on the table how the other was eating too much. I took a picture of our desert plates, chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.

After eating WAY too much, we walked over to EPCOT and rode Test Track (again!) 2 more times and did the new virtual reality "ride" that is in the car showroom. I have no idea what it's called and it's basically a commercial for the cars but it was still really cool. We walked around Innoventions and sent video postcards to our families. Out of 5 postcards, 1 actually arrived. We took a cab back to the hotel because we had a large backpack in a locker over by the International Gateway and didn't want to lug it back all the way to the busses. We are so tired and practically had to hold eachother up on the walk back to the room. Tomorrow is our last day and I'm not ready to go home.

Day 4 Well, it's our last day. I'm so not ready for this trip to end. We got a 6:30 wake up call because it is early entry to MK. This is our favorite park. The very first time we went to WDW this was the only park there so we have a lot of childhood memories from it. We were on the bus at 7:45 and at MK by 8. We grabbed a quick bite at the Main St. Bakery again (yummy) and then headed over to Tomorrowland and on to Buzz. We then grabbed a FASTPASS for Space Mtn. and headed on to the Speedway which was very, very ............S.....L.....O......W. Had we known that they were only going to keep half the track open, we wouldn't have waited. Next we walked right on to Space Mtn and I finally did it with my eyes open. Yeah Me!! We next tried to walk through the castle but couldn't because of the show so we had to walk around the castle (not the same magical feeling) and headed on the HM. After that it was one last ride on Splash Mtn. I did the drop with both arms in the air this time. Something my DS had been trying to get me to do the entire trip. What fun. I got completely soaked but it was totally worth it. We had to check out of our room by 11 so we headed for the bus. I didn't want to leave. I seriously wanted to cry when we turned and took our last look down Main St. and at that beautiful castle. Who knows when I'll get back?

We waited a very long time for the bus to get back to the lodge and ended up getting back after 11. DS checked us out while I ran the mile to the room to finish getting our stuff together. We placed our luggage w/guest services except for our bathing suits and some toiletries and headed down to the Mara for lunch. We took one last soak in the jacuzzi and a swim and lounged by the pool for a while. DS went for a massage while I read poolside and by 4:00 she had to leave. Her flight was a lot earlier than mine so it was either hang out at the hotel or the airport for me. I chose the hotel. We hugged and cried when she left. We only see eachother once a year - closer to two years and I never felt so sad saying good-bye. She had given me the greatest gift. I don't mean just paying for the trip, but she made me leave my comfort zone and experience things that I never would have had the courage to do before. My husband and children will be amazed when I tell them all that I have done. Thank you just didn't seem adequate enough to say to express all that this trip meant to me. When she left I went back into the lodge and cried.

I walked around (I had a lot of time to kill). My flight wasn't until 9:50 p.m. The shuttle was picking me up at 7:30. So I watched the animals, took tons of pictures of the lodge to show my family, had yet another meal at the Mara (it's starting to grow on me) and just took in the wonder of it all. The shuttle ride to the airport was full and we all just shared stories of how much fun we had at the world. It went so fast. Now I can't wait to get home and get my film developed so I can live it all again!
