When we got out Jane went to do some shopping and I found a bench to sit on. My DD was amusing herself by chasing birds. She wasn't hurting them,
just making them fly away. Well some lady who was sitting at the end of the bench jumped up and grabbed her by the arm and yelled in her face to "stop
being mean to the birds". Rayna was terrified and ran back to me and buried her face in my shoulder. I glared at the lady and told her that her actions
were uncalled for as Rayna wasn't hurting the birds but she ignored me. I got up and moved over to the hat area and the soldiers from Toy Story came
out and started their act which made Rayna forget her trauma. I started talking to a nice young lady who was sitting next to me. She was from
England and was leaving tomorrow having been in Florida for 2 weeks. We noticed so many English/Australian? accents during the week that we wondered
if it was a holiday over there. I wish I had asked Chloe! Not too long after that Mom and the kids showed up and we decided to watch
the parade. The teens saw this as a good chance to go on the thrill rides again so they took off. We watched the parade which was great and then my
niece got some autographs. MGM was a good park for autographs as there were characters everywhere. She had almost filled up her book last November so I
thought it might be hard to find different characters to sign her book but it wasn't at all. The big kids came back and we decided to go back to FW
since everyone was tired. In the meantime I had told my mom about the incident with Rayna and pointed
the lady out - big mistake! I went with Jane to pick up some packages and we were to meet everyone at the stroller rental booth. When we did my teens
told me that "Grammy yelled at that mean lady who grabbed Rayna". Jeez! My teens seem to think it was very funny and very typical of their "Grammy".
It seemed like everywhere we went for the next few days we would see this lady whom my kids dubbed "old sourpuss".
The vengeful Granny, the boys and the two little girls and myself went to catch the bus back to FW while oldest DD and Jane went to catch a Friendship
to the International Gateway at Epcot to do some shopping at Mousegear. At the bus stop we meet a man from California who was staying at WL. He does
computer graphics and had worked for Disney in the past. He was a really interesting guy. He told us that when he liked working for Disney except
for the fact that when you work for them any idea you come up with belongs to Disney. He told us that once a year the employees get a chance to pitch
an idea to Eisner. He says it's like the lottery. The chance that they will develop your idea is a long shot but if they do you win big.
When we got back to FW I took the kids swimming and Mom rested. The pool at FW is nice but the girls complained that it wasn't fun like the pool at CBR.
It was almost empty and very peaceful. I got to talking to a woman from Wisconsin who made me feel wimpy as they had driven for 26 hours from home
to FW with only one brief stop! We couldn't do 8 without a layover! I came to find out that her dad drove big rigs and they had turned a trailer into
camper and had six drivers taking turns while everyone else slept and rested in the trailer.
I finally convinced the girls it was time to go but the boys stayed and played at the arcade. The 800 loop is really centrally located so it wasn't
that far from the Meadows Trading Post area, never the lass I loved having a golf cart after a day of walking around the parks. We saw so many people
with their golf carts decorated for Halloween. Many of the campsites were decorated too and the little girls loved driving around looking at them. We
went back to camp and went to the bath house to take showers. We determined it was better to do this in the evening as the morning times could get busy
although it wasn't a problem until the weekend. When we got back Jane and Krys had returned with lots of goodies from
Mousegear and report on the Wine and Food booths although they denied stopping at any of them (I would have) saying they wanted to wait until we
all went. After cereal for bedtime snacks everyone settled down and went to sleep.
The highlights: Mickey at Prime Time, the parade, Jane got her first of many turkey legs, meeting some nice people, the streetmasphere(sp?)
performers and characters at MGM.
Day three - Magic Kingdom
This was a big day as my BF and son were celebrating their birthdays. They had decided they wanted to get their hair done at the MK barbershop. We
woke up a little early and decided to go to the Trail's End for breakfast. It wasn't crowded at all and my oldest daughter stopped on her way through
the buffet to tell our server Donnell that we had 2 birthdays at our table. We all got breakfast which was good with plenty of variety. The little
girls were happy to see Mickey waffles which they remembered from our trip last November. There was something for everyone and if I hadn't been trying
hard to stay on a budget it would have been easy to eat breakfast here every morning. I liked it much better than the food court at CBR. As breakfast
came to a close I was beginning to think they were not going to do anything about the birthdays but then Donnell came out with a birthday cake and
announced that it was Jane's and Will's birthday and lead everyone in a sing along. The birthday "kids" blew out the candles and we all had a piece of
yummy cake. This was a good sized yellow cake and seemed to have a whipped cream icing which was delicious. The problem was that we were all stuffed
from the buffet so we didn't even come close to finishing it. Donnell asked if we wanted to take it with us but as we were headed to the park we
couldn't. It was the first of a nice day of birthday surprises. We rode the ferry over to MK and the captain wished Will and Jane a happy
birthday as did many of our fellow passengers. When we got into MK they went to get their buttons while the little girls got in a line to see Peter
Pan and Wendy. There were characters stationed all around the square signing autographs and taking pictures. Our next stop was the BBshop. Only
the lady was there as the other barber had the day off. She had a customer in the chair and one waiting so we decided to wait too. The guy in the
chair was saying that he comes once a month to MK just to get his hair cut! It took awhile because she isn't exactly speedy and he was very picking
asking her to touch up this and that area! As we were waiting a "paperboy" came in and talked to Will about it being his birthday. He was talking in a
real fast Brooklynese type of accent and my DS and nephew thought he was so funny. My DS is 15 but stands 6'1 and weighs about 160 - quit the big guy
and this young man was very slender and short. He started teasing Will that he could beat him in a game of basketball, etc. Very cute. He dashed off
to "sell some more rags" and the picky guy was finally satisfied and the next guy didn't take long at all. Just as my son sat down the Dapper Dans
came in! I had to run next door to get my mom out of the Emporium as she loves a barbershop quartet. The Dans were funny cutting up with the barber,
Will and everyone else. They sang happy birthday to Will and Jane then called Krystal (15 yo DD) up. They put her in the middle of them and sang
"A Very Merry Unbirthday to You". I have some cute photo's of this if I can every get them off my laptop and downloaded I'll share. We enjoyed their
antics and singing. Will got his hair dyed and pixiedusted and looked very funny. It's not too many fifteen year old boys who would do this! Jane was
next and the barber got out her Mickey cape and some a huge scissors and comb and we took pics She too got her hair dyed and dusted. After she was
done with Jane she sprinkled pixie dust on everyone! We tried to pay her but she said there was no charge. Of course we gave her a nice tip.
We then went up Main Street with lots of folks doing double takes at the "dos". Jane had on her guest of honor badge and her birthday pin so almost
every cast member we encountered wished her a happy birthday by name. A cm from the bakery came out and gave them both a cupcake (I guess she spotted
them from up the street -easy to do when they are sporting bright red hair with loads of sparkles!). We went to Adventureland first and rode the
Safari -no wait and POC - no wait. We had never been to the Tiki Birds so we decided to go although the teens
thought it would be "lame". We had to wait about 2 minutes for the show to start. My 4 yo loved this
show. I can vaguely remember seeing the original in DL when I was 9 and I
thought this one was amusing enough. Even the teens admitted that it was "kinda cute". We rode Aladdin's carpets and then went on to Splash Mountain
to get a FP. The wait was posted at 10 minutes and the cm told us it was really only about 5. We decided to go for it. Mom and Jane stayed in the
little play area with Rayna as she had sworn off SM after her ride last November. When we came last year my niece wouldn't ride SM but this year
she had convinced herself she could do it. Well I love SM but something about the angle of the car kills my knees! We got through the line quickly
and Lexi kept bugging me about "when is the big hill?". My knee thought it was taking forever but we finally got there and after the big drop Lexi
proclaimed it her new favorite ride! Nothing would do but we had to get back in line and go again. I was working hard to keep that "greatest aunt
in the world" title.
