Debbie and Veronica – February 2003

Trip Report - Day 5 (Feb. 9)

Cast of Characters:
Me (the Mom - Debbie, age 30)
DD (Veronica, age 5, celebrating 2 year remission)

Feb. 5-8: AS Movies
Feb. 8-9: Best Western Lake Buena Vista

Today: Home
Weather: Cold (60 degrees), lots of rain (thunderstorms)

Sorry, it took so long to post the last day, been extremely busy.

Slept in (8am). Took a shower while I let DD sleep. Laid our DD's clothes earlier so she was dressed when I was finished getting ready. Went down to breakfast. They had a breakfast buffet. Filled with an assortment of food. Could make your own toast/english muffin and Mickey waffle. Everything was hot and fresh. Cost was $11 total. I thought that was pretty good!

Stopped in gift shop to get DH an Orlando t-shirt. He has a lot of Disney ones and had asked for an Orlando one instead. Was going to get one at the airport but they had them in the gift shop for $10. Good quality and reasonable price. Looked in their Disney shop and everything was the same as in the parks. Didn't get anything there.

Went back up to the room and did a little repacking. Watched TV until it was time to go downstairs to check out and wait for our pickup from Tiffany Towncar. Checked out and car arrived within 10 minutes. Glad for the carport (overhang) since it was pouring rain at that time. It was a different driver than our first one. He was very nice but drove extremely fast.

Got to the airport and were dropped off at the Midwest Express area. Driver put bags on sidewalk and before I could give him his tip, he was gone! Oh well!!

Check in was short and easy. Security again took the bags. We then headed for the stores to look around before we passed thru boarding pass security. Bought a Disney activity book for DD and a magnet that I hadn't seen at WDW. Going thru security was fast since they had a lot of detectors set up. Got thru without any problems. :-)

Looked in a newsstand shop. Bought a couple snacks for the flight and a bottle of water.

Plane was delayed about 10 minutes due to the storm outside. Got on the plane and were in the air within 15 minutes of original departure time. Had a very bumpy ride until we were over Savannah, Georgia. Then it was pretty smooth. For lunch we were given hot chicken calzones and a bag of chips. They were really good. Hope I get to fly Midwest again sometime.

Got to Milwaukee 15 minutes late but the sky was clear so it was nice to see the sun after 3 days in cloudy weather. Just wish it was warmer!! It was around 20 degrees. Warmer than when we left so I guess I could live with it. One hour 30 minutes later I was HOME!

DD and I already miss Disney. Been thinking of all the things I didn't get to when we there. Anything to go back!!! Hoping DH will go this time. Really missed him. A 5 year old can get pretty boring to talk to after a while. I love her to death but adult conversation is welcome after a couple of days! LOL!!!

DD talks incessantly about the trip and keeps trying to encourage DH that we need to go again soon! He seems to think that I put her up to it. :-) ME?.....never!!!!!

Starting to plan a trip for 2006 (hoping 8-9 days!) when DD will be declared cancer free. It'll be her 5-year mark, which is monumental to a cancer survivor. DD will then be 8 (so will still have child costs) and there could possibly be a 2 year old (if everything goes according to our plans!). That child would still be FREE. Since DD will be in school then we'll see what the "rules" for absences are, otherwise, we'll plan on Spring Break or June. I hate extremely hot conditions and vowed I would never go to Florida in the summer but will do anything for my DD! Plan on getting a 7-day hopper plus for each of us as I save the money. DH would like to also go to the beach for a day and Sea World. We also want to hotel switch so we don't know if a UPH would work very well. I am also thinking of AP's. If I was to buy only a child AP, would I be able to get an AP rate for rooms? Or does it need to be an adult one?

I guess I've babbled on enough! For those that continued to read my reports...Thank you!!! I enjoy reading others trip reports very much and was glad to finally share one of mine.

Thanks for all the tips! You all saved me a ton of money and gave me great ideas!!!! Thanks MFL!!!
