Trip Report - Day 4
Cast of Characters:
Me - twentysomething little girl, otherwise known as Princess
DH - thirtysomething big kid, otherwise known as Flower the Skunk
Once again, I bounced out of bed while DH lay snoring like an entire army of chainsaws. This was not going well. Since today
was our last day with no must do events planned, we had decided that this would be Magic Kingdom day. Once again, the parks
are o-pen and he's not even awake!
Finally, I got him hauled out of bed and showered and dressed."When we have kids you're just going to leave me and go to the park,"
he grumbles as he brushes his teeth. "Nu-uh," I say. "When we have kids I'm going to let them jump on you
and wake you up."
Finally, we get to the MK at about 10:30. I was on a mission for a real cup of coffee, because I can't drink the stuff they have
at Roaring Forks, but we get sidetracked. The square is crammed full of characters. As we go towards exposition hall, we see
Cruella De Ville. She's holding forth, just as evil as can be, with a short line. I ask DH if he wants his picture with her, and he
says yes, I think I do. Now DH is a big teddy bear, but he's also wearing his Frisco Motorcycles Shirt, which features the Golden
Gate Bridge on top of a pile of skulls. The handler sees him and says "please be good" LOL! Cruella gets done telling the
couple in front of us she can make anyone cry in two seconds and sees DH. Her eyes light up. She adores his shirt. She poses
for the picture and then says "This is too much fun!" and throws her arms around him. Then she drags him over to Aladdin, who
was signing autographs right next to us and, pointing to his shirt, says "this is what it's going to look like when I'm done with
those puppies!!" Alladin is terrorized. DH is loving every second and the picture turned out great.
After that, every time we saw Cruella or her picture I told DH "there's your girlfriend". LOL.
Now me, being the little girl I am, I want to have lunch in the castle. So we set off to see if we can get a PS and catch the tail
end of the show. We see the wishing well for the first time and DH takes some spectacular portraits of me sitting on it with the
castle in the background. We get a PS for 1:30 and go off to ride some rides. The wait for Splash Mountain was 15 minutes.
We buy the picture - we're both screaming our heads off - and we get soaked. Luckily, it's a warm day.
When it's time for lunch, we go back to the castle and check in. As we're waiting to be called, Cinderella comes in for pictures!
Woo-hoo! She calls me Princess too. We have a really yummy lunch - DH wants me to make the house special salad at home.
I finally get a decent cup of coffee and our server even brings us Mickey straws.
After lunch, we rode some rides. I won't bore everyone with the details of every ride - you've all seen them, and if you haven't,
you should be surprised. We did all the rides we wanted to except for Winnie the Pooh. For some reason, the stand by line for
Pooh was over an hour and there were no fast passes left, but Space Mountain was only fifteen minutes with the FP machines
closed. Oh well. I screamed like a baby on SM and the AE.
We went to explore Toon Town while we wait for our Peter Pan FP time. I sawhe face paint tent and I'm thrilled - I get a red and
gold design with lots of glitter. I go compliments for the rest of the day. Yay!
We debate staying for the fireworks, but we're too hungry and we want to beat the rush. So at 6:55 we go out to the boat dock.
Just as we're pulling away, the castle goes dark and the show begins. It's even more gorgeous from the water than it was from
the Poly beach. We watch the fireworks explode over the Contemporary until they're out of sight.
Tonight we are eating dinner at Artist's Point in our hotel. I can not say enough good things about this restaurant, and I think it
often gets under rated because the food seems a little weird. Well, it might seem weird but it tastes extraordinary. DH and I
ate and ate and ate and could not stop. We had a very nice wine - a gewürztraminer - and the most delectable chocolate bread
pudding I have ever had in my entire life.
High Points: Everything!
Low Points: Um, was there one?
