Leilani Wagner - October 2003

Cast of Characters: myself & DH, 10 y/o DD (Miranda), 4 y/o DD (Laken)

Friday, 10/17

First I have to tell you that within the last 2 weeks we've discovered 3 other families (let's call them #1, #2 & #3) that we know will be in Orlando at least part of the time that we are there. Small world? We'll see.

Up & out of the house early - flight leaves KC at 8:40. We ran into another family (#4) on their way to FL (they're doing the beach first and then Disney). Got to pre-board (child under age 5 - last time we'll be able to do this) but had to sit by 2's. Flight was great - barely had to get into goodie bag for the girls - both were entralled with looking out the windows. Arrived in Orlanda 10 minutes early. While waiting for luggage we ran into family #5 that we knew. We did a one day rental from Alamo (long story - but this was the best deal for us in the long run) - but car pick up was horrible! The line was 45 minutes long. People working were unfriendly-obviously stressed. Family #5 was also renting from Alamo so at least I had someone to chat with in line.

We made a stop at Super WalMart on the way to resort to pick up breakfast and snack foods. We're now running late because of Alamo so we just drove thru McD's for lunch. Checked into All Star Movies about 3:30 - only took 10 minutes and we were in our room in the Buzz Toy Story building. This is the building I requested so we were all quite happy. DH & girls checked out the pool area and went to pick up their lanyards while I unpacked. We had requested a refrigerator for the room - it wasn't there - I called the front desk and it was delivered promptly.

Returned car to Alamo - this went much better than pick up. They shuttled us to DTD. Purchased pressed penny book, bracelet charms, autograph book & pens at World of Disney. Had some chocolate from Ghirardelli - yum! Purchased Mickey Ears (with stitching), Guest of Honor badges and a few Christmas ornaments from the Christmas Store. Stitching was way behind so Ears have to be delivered to us at our resort tomorrow. Checked out the Memories Store (name?) for scrapbook materials - wasn't thrilled with anything I saw so I didn't purchase anything. Went to the Toy Store and loaded up on Mr. Potato Head parts and bought a couple of Christmas presents. This was quite a bit of shopping but I wanted to get this out of the way so I didn't have to think about it once in the parks. The girls played in the fountains for awhile.

We were going to eat at Planet Hollywood but had not made a PS and the line was long so we didn't even bother going in. Went back to ALMo for dinner in the Food Court (surprisingly good) and a dip in the pool. Girls were in bed by 9:00.

BTW, ALMo has recently put all new pillows in their rooms. They were huge. I generally sleep with one fairly flat pillow so this was difficult for me. My 4 y/o was half way sitting while using these pillows. Not a huge deal - but when I called they said that is all that is available.

High Point: We're here!!

Low Point: Alamo wait

Tomorrow: Princess breakfast at Epcot & MGM

Saturday, 10/18

Have PS for Princess Storybook Breakfast in Norway in Epcot at 8:40. Waited 20 minutes for a bus. I finally went inside to inquire and was told that we missed the Character Breakfast bus (I had not been informed of this at time of reservation or at check in) BUT a bus should be along soon and they would call Norway for us. We were about 10 minutes late but they sat us right away. Food was good but not great. Service was great - very friendly and helpful. We meet Belle, Mulan, Snow White, Jasmine & Aurora.

Left Epcot for MGM - no problems with bus. Rode The Great Movie Ride, Studios Backlot Tour & saw Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. Had a late lunch at 2:00 at the Sci-Fi Dine-In. Food was great, atmosphere fun - but dark. Laken fell asleep leaning against me. Found a HM. Waiter took our family picture without us having to ask him. Also filled our mugs with water before leaving. Great service. DH & 4 y/o went to get in line for parade. 10 y/o & I rode Star Tours then joined them for the parade. Saw Beauty & the Beast show - great - including the pre-show. Girls did some pin trading today. Characters we meet were: Lilo & Stitch, Timon & Rafiki, Chip & Dale, Minnie Mouse and Goofy. Saw people heading towards Fantasmic! around 6:15 - so we hurried along. DH & girls went in while I stopped to pick us up a bite to eat while waiting for show to start. Went to Rosie's Cafe and got chicken strips & fries - very tasty! Just so you know though - there's plenty of food in side the Fantasmic! Theatre. We didn't have to make these purchases before entering but didn't know it until we were there. Fantasmic! was super! Loved it. There is a fine mist that hits the first several rows - I'm not sure how far back this goes.

Back to ALMo to crash!

High Point: Fantasmic!

Low Point: I feel like we only did half of this park. I thought my 10 y/o would ride Tower of Terror - but she decided she wanted no part of it - DH & I may try to do this later this week by doing a baby swap thing. I knew she wouldn't do the roller coaster - so that'll probably just wait for another trip entirely. We wanted to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid but didn't fit it in. Pretty much didn't have much interest in the other things. Also, I looked all over for the 'Singing in the Rain' umbrella - I finally asked a couple of CM's who said it has been removed! It used to be in front of the Hunchback Theatre - don't know where that was. Anyone know about this?

Tomorrow: MK - early entry
