Doerle Family - November 2004

Cast of Characters: Me (Lisa 42), Mom (DM 62), DD14, DS15/16, Twin nieces Alice and Erin (DN9)

Day 4: November 9, 2004

Today we were up and out early for a day at Magic Kingdom. A quick stop at the McDonalds drive thru and we were on our way. We parked and were at the gate at 9:10. Today we jumped on the WDW railroad and got off in Frontierland. There was a 5 minute wait for Splash Mountain so the kids did that first thing. Mom and I grabbed FP's for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and waited on the bridge for them to come around. The twins loved it and with a 5 minute wait still they all went again. We wandered over to Adventureland and grabbed FP's for Jungle Cruise. The kids went on Aladdin and then we did Pirates of the Caribbean before going on Jungle Cruise. After that we strolled over to use our FP's from earlier on BTMRR. With some coaxing mom also went on with us. She is NOT a thrill ride person (Dumbo made her queasy). She screamed like crazy but she survived, swearing never to go on it again.

Once again we hopped the train and got off in Toon Town. The kids went on Barnstormer while I ran over to get FP's for Buzz. They weren't even giving out FP's as there was only a 10 minute wait. We knew getting there early was good but all day we basically walked on everything. There was also just a 10 minute wait for Space Mountain so I decided to grab FP's for Pooh as that had a 40 minute wait. I met up with mom who was waiting for the kids and to get off Barnstormer. Within minutes they were off and we went to Mickey's house. The twins and Maggie wanted to get pictures with Mickey so we did that and it only took a few minutes.

From there we headed over to Speedway and they took a spin with only a 10 minute wait. It began raining lightly so we decided it would be a good time to have lunch at Cosmic Ray's. So did everyone else since it started raining quite a bit harder. It was a zoo but we managed to get a table out on the patio overlooking the castle and I went in to get burgers for all of us (except Alice who wanted the corndog nuggets but since I could get those in the burger line that was okay). We had a nice meal and the rain let up quite a bit before we were through. From there we went to use our FP for Pooh which everyone enjoyed. It was really a whirlwind from there. We did the teacups, Speedway (again) and then over to Buzz. We did Tomorrowland Transit Authority and then the kids did Space Mountain.

We had bypassed Minnie's house while we were in Toon Town earlier so we went back over there to get some pictures. The girls wanted to do Space Mountain again so, with still a 5 minute wait, all the kids went on again. Chris and the twins went on one more time while Maggie hung out with mom and me. We wandered towards Main Street and did a bit of shopping. The kids wanted ice cream so we grabbed it at a kiosk before heading out. We were all exhausted but did everything and then some at Magic Kingdom. We got to the hotel and ate at the food court. The kids played a few games at the arcade and then we called it a night. What a great day we had.

Day 5: November 10, 2004

Today we're spending the day with Mom's friend Mary Lue. We picked her up at Boardwalk at 8:00 and headed to Magic Kingdom. We parked, shuttled and monorailed and were through security by 8:40. We saw the opening ceremony which was great and we'd never seen it before. We were here to do a few things that Mary Lue wanted to see. We headed over Hall of Presidents and it wasn't open until 11:00 so we hopped on Haunted Mansion. Carousel of Progress was another one that she wanted to do but the kids waylaid us at Speedway. That was fine and I went over to see if COP was still open and how long the wait for Stitch was. COP was open and Stitch had a 10 minute wait. After gathering up the others we went directly to Stitch. I thought it was cute. Alice said the restraints hurt her shoulders but we all liked it. Then we went in COP and all enjoyed it again. Then we dashed across the park to see Hall of Presidents, just in time to make the 11:00 show. It was very well done and very int eresting. Those were all the things on Mary Lue's list so we started out of the park to go to MGM for our 12:15 PS at 50's Prime Time.

We got to the restaurant about 12:05 and checked in. The wait was very short and soon we were seated at out table. The service and atmosphere was great but the food was only so-so. From there we wanted to hit Mary Lue's must do's so we went over to Muppet 3D. Everyone thought the show was great. I've seen it many times and still love it. We cut around the back and headed to Backlot Tour. There was a long wait so we decided to come back to it later. The next thing was One Man's Dream. We spent a good bit of time going through the exhibit before going into the movie portion. Moving along we hit the Great Movie Ride. There was a bit of a wait but we decided to go ahead and do it. It only turned out to be about 20 minutes and it was great as usual. We returned to the Backlot Tour for the last tour of the day. We liked it a lot but mom got nervous at the bridge scene. Went over to ToT and the girls did a ride on that with a short wait. Chris decided to sit this one out.

Despite grumblings from my two children, we went to get seats for Famtasmic! It was about 6:30 and the theatre was already very full. We were seated at the far side of the theatre and waited. At this point the kids were hungry and Maggie went up to get some pretzels. Mom got nervous because she was gone so long so I went up to check it out. She was next in line when I found her. The lady in front of us got the last pretzel and they were out of popcorn. Maggie was not happy but I got some chips She gets very grumpy when she's hungry. Back down to our seat and the show is almost ready to start. Luckily, grandma had some cookies in her bag as well. The show began and the girls were mesmerized. Before we knew it it was over and we were making our way out of the park. Despite all the people we had no trouble getting a shuttle to the parking lot. We decided to go to Pizzaria Uno in the Crossroads plaza for dinner. I have to say it was one of the best meals we had on this vacation. Plenty of variety for everyone and the food was delicious. After stuffing ourselves we dropped Mary Lue back off at Boardwalk and headed to our hotel to crash. It had been a long and fun filled day and everyone was ready for a good nights sleep.
