Doerle Family - November 2004

Cast of Characters: Me (Lisa 42), Mom (DM 62), DD14, DS15/16, Twin nieces Alice and Erin (DN9)

Day 8: November 13, 2004

Our last day. I got up early and ran over for coffee for me and mom. We decided to check out early and head to MK for a few last hours of magic. After loading the car we drove over to the main building to check out. There were 2 or 3 people in line and a CM with a radio began checking room numbers and if your balance was zero you were all set. Ours was so off we went. We went through the McDonald's drive thru for some breakfast and were in the Magic Kingdom parking lot by 9:10. A quick tram ride and this time the ferry had us on Main Street by 9:30. We walked over to Frontierland and BTMRR had a 30 minute wait but FP's were not too far out so we grabbed those. Went over to POC while we waited for the time to roll around. A nice stroll back and it was time for our ride. This time I went on as well and mom waited at the exit. The kids wanted to do Space Mountain and Speedway again so we hopped the train and headed over. Speedway was 15 minutes so they got in line and I went over to get FP's for SM. After Speedway we walked right on Buzz with a 5 minute wait. There was still a few minutes before their FP's so we did COP again. The kids did SM and then we had to go over to the Pooh gift shop in search of a baby Pooh. Erin had purchased baby Tigger a few nights ago at DTD and now she decided she wanted Pooh as well. We were hoping they had it and they did. We started making our way to the exit one last time as we needed to leave for the airport by 1:30 for our 3:45 flight home.

We did a bit more shopping on Main Street and headed out. Took the monorail and the tram to Pluto parking area. Now, every day I wrote down which area and row we were in, except for today. Was it 25 or 23 or maybe 21??? We were beginning to panic as the clock was ticking and we still had to fill the gas tank. I had the remote in my hand clicking the panic button and finally, after about 10 minutes we heard the beep and found the van in row 21. We hit the Hess station at the park exit and off we went, behind schedule. Raced to the airport, dropped off the van and schlepped the luggage to US Airways check in. It was now 3:10 and our flight was due to leave at 3:50. Made it to the gate by 3:25 and no sign of boarding. I ran to a food stand to grab bags of something as we hadn't had lunch yet. After an eternity (5 minutes) I had a bag of burgers, hot dogs and fries. My mom approached saying there was a slight delay and we weren't boarding yet. Okay, so we can eat before we get on the plane. The slight delay turned into over an hour and we were on the plane at 5:00. Then we sat there. The captain came on and announced that they had forgotten to fuel us up so we were waiting to fill up…DUH!!! Finally, in the air and a bumpy but uneventful flight landing around 8:15.

Sister and BIL were there waiting for us and we began the wait for the luggage. My 3 suitcases came off, one of the twins suitcases came off and then nothing. On a direct flight they managed to loose 3 of our bags. My mom had everything in hers, I had a duffle with dirty laundry and the twins bag had all their souvenirs. No one was happy. It seemed that half the plane either had something lost or damaged. We filed our claim and went home. Luckily we had our bags by the next day and all was well.
