Dieckmann Family - September 2004

9/28 - Finally here! Flew into MCO about 11:30 a.m. and was met by driver from Tiffany. What a wonderful service! At $85 roundtrip, worth every penny and will be using them from now on. Our room was ready when we arrived, we dumped our luggage and, as the kids were starving, hit the food court. We ate at the food court several times during our stay and were never disappointed. We did purchase the refill cups and they were worth every penny. Went to MK and there were NO LINES! Rode everything we wanted without any wait. First mistake, though, was taking my daughter into Mickey's Philharmonic. Apparently there is a lion in it and we were in the middle of the theatre and couldn't get out. After that she was scared to go on anything! I thought it was a very cool show. We rode all the "kiddie" rides and visited Mickey's toon town fair and hopped on the train there. We waited at the main station for a few minutes and the conductor said we had to wait for the parade to cross th e tracks, so we hopped out and sat right on the curb as the parade started. The low crowds amazed me! We toured MK until our PS for Crystal Palace at 7. I loved Crystal Palace, the food was great but we did have to wait after we were done eating to see the characters. We walked out of Crystal Palace as the spectromagic parade was passing and watched from the bridge. We also waited to watch Wishes and it was beautiful! I only wish we hadn't left near the end to avoid the crowds, because the crowds weren't that bad. We watched the end from the bus stop. A note to anyone traveling alone with kids, my daughter and I got off and the far (north?) bus stop at POR and there was NO ONE around and it was dark and I didn't care for it at all. We got off at the main stop from then on.

9/29 - Went to MGM, saw lots and lots of characters. Went to the little mermaid show and Playhouse disney and just walked around a lot. Went back to the hotel to eat and then to MK until our PS for Chef Mickey's. We had to wait quite a while here, probably 25 minutes or more. I didn't like the food as well here, but the characters were great. Minnie wasn't scheduled to be there but was, as well as goofy, max, donald, Mickey, chip and dale. The kids had a blast and I got some great photos.

9/30 - Went to Animal Kingdom, what a disappointment! Went on the Safari ride and that was cool. Had the crap scared out of my daughter at "It's tough to be a bug". We walked right on without any wait, and walked out in the first 15 seconds when a huge, hairy spider showed up. This time I was one the aisle, but the exit lights are out during the show. I was rescued by a staff member with a flashlight. Talking to other parents on the bus, I heard it gets worse, with fog filling the theatre and spiders falling down from the ceiling. I took a lot of guff from people at home telling me it was a waste of time to take a 4 year old, and as far as the thrill rides and shows maybe so. But we had a great time and only wished we had planned to stay longer. And at this point we were realizing we weren't going to get to do everything we had hoped, so we are already planning a longer trip for next year! We went back to the hotel for lunch, swam in the hotel pool, and met the teens of our party, who wanted to see Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island. I was under the impression that after 7 teens would not be admitted to pleasure island without an adult, but everything they wanted to see was in downtown disney. I was only going to get them in, but there was lots of stuff for my daughter to do. She like the lego station and carousel. We ate at the Rainforest (again, without any wait), and walked around until we had room for Ghirradelli (sp?) Wonderful! And, of course, shopped. We rode the boat back and forth from the hotel and that was really nice. Also, on this day one of the teens realized they hadn't packed enough clothes. I figured no big deal, we'd do a load of laundry at the pool and be ahead for when we got home. First, the laundry is at a "quiet pool", not where my daughter wanted to go, and doing ONE load of laundry was $9!. Next time I'll just wash out a t-shirt in the sink!

10/1 - I can't believe it's our last day! We were out late last night so slept until 10:30. Fortunately had arranged for late check-out (1 p.m.). Left the teens to pack and daughter and I went to Plaza Restaurant as I had heard the Reubans were great, and they were. Toured our favorite parts of MK again, but the crowds were up. The wait for the final ride of Dumbo was probably 45 minutes. Went back to the hotel for a final dip in the pool and got dressed just in time to meet the Tiffany driver at 5:30 p.m.

10/2 - Begin planning for 9/30/05 trip !
