Day 7 Final day, October 20, 2004
I woke up at 6:00AM ready for a long trip. I cleaned myself up and, called a luggage porter. I went to breakfast at the End Zone. It did not cost me a thing because I had 1 free meal certificate. I decided to eat me a big breakfast and boy would I need it. I stepped outside the front door and I was
in the drop off zone. He told me that it was the first sign at the bus pick up. He brought over my luggage and I thanked him very much. Mears came in a van and I boarded. It was a great trip to the airport. I got to the airport and did the computer check in. I made a big bo-bo at the security
gate; I forgot to empty my pockets. The TSA person was a little annoyed, so I put my wallet and cell in a bowl and went back through. I said in a quiet voice, "I am safe." I boarded train and went to my gate. I got a call from Jeff and we talked for about 15 minutes. He told me that he had to
work Tuesday evening until 11:00Pp. He said that if I came back next year, he would help me get into the Gartner confrence with one of his freebie tickets. I got on the plane. My big blue bag was just barely able to fit into the overhead compartment. What really made me mad was that some one
decided to take my compartment and the passenger next to me. I called the flight attendant and she found a place to put my bag. I should have asked for a pillow right then, but I did not. That was a big mistake. I got to Atlanta and had to change terminals. Just what I need more walking.
Sheesh don't these people know that I have been walking all week and I do not want to walk anymore. I went all the way through terminal A and down to the underground railway. I got to terminal B and made the mistake of not stopping by a restaurant. I went straight to the gate and just sat down
and relaxed. I boarded the plane and decided it was time for a nap. I grabbed a pillow real quick. I had over a 2 hour flight, and. I new I was going to need some sleep. I was next to a nice woman who had just completed some missionary work. I fell asleep, and woke up to the seat belt sign
coming on. We started our final approach to Austin. I got out of the gate and went to a pretzel shop to get a snack. I went down to baggage claim, and saw my friend Beau, waiting for me at the end of the stairs. I went to my baggage carrousel and waited for while.
Summary of trip and thoughts
This was only my second time out of the state of Texas and it was worth every dollar. I first got this trip in mid-May and slowly paid it off.
This is a summary of what I purchased as far as the trip
1. Round Trip to from Austin to Orlando International Airport
2. Round trip shuttle transport on MEARS
3. 6 nights 7 days accommodations at Disney All Star Property for 1 person
4. Ultimate Park Hopper Pass which allows me entrance to any Disney theme park, and water park The following are benefits that I was given with this pass:
A choice of a poster, golf, 25.00 at Planet Hollywood, or leave a legacy tile
10.00 rebate at downtown Disney when I spend 50.00
10.00 Travelocity gift Certificate from Planet Hollywood
5. Vacation Protection Insurance
6. 2 Disney Trading pins
7. 2 Disney Laynards
The total cost was 1174.78 for me
I had a budget of 715.00 that I took with me to Disney World. I will not go into details, but I spent more on Disney memorabilia than I did on food. Here is a breakdown of the 715.
Food 325.00
Disney Mementos 175.00
Extras 175.00
According to my math, I came back with about 20% of this budget
I used my Disney keycard as my charge card so that I could see every purchase on one piece of paper.
Now half way through the week I realized that the memento budget was a little weak and the food budget was quite healthy. So, I did reallocate money. I used the extras for my fun in the arcade, anytime I went to the ATM, washing clothes, food at airports, and batteries for my digital camera.
The trip itself was truly magical. I can't say what I enjoyed most because I was very amazed. Each park had some outstaying qualities which really made me happy. The one thing I will say is that the Disney cast treated me so wonderful. My key card charge card magnetized 3 times because of my cell phone. I felt so badly, but they apologized for it. I liked getting trading pins to put on my lanyard.
I do want to go back in the near future because I did not get to do everything that I wanted to do. But for the first trip I thank that it is impossible. I went in with that mind set Friday to Magic Kingdom. But, I pushed myself so hard, and I could barely stand up when I got to the bus line outside the park that night. Food was not expensive at all. I ate three meals a day and got some snack. I invested in a mug, and took it to the parks beginning Saturday because water would be better than soda.
I did go on some scary rides. After I did Space Mountain, I had to put the breaks o., I almost lost my head and stomach. I think each person should now there limits and just not break it them. I did not do a lot in MGM this time because I felt like I was going to run out of time. I wanted to go to Disney Quest long before I arrived.
The final word I will say is that this trip was truly magical in every sense. I want to go back next year, maybe longer than this time. To those who want to go to Disney World, I say "plan early." It is a lot cheaper. I do not know what the next year will hold, but I do now that I have another trip to Disney coming to me in the next 4 years.
