Ray Flores - October 2004

Day 2 Friday October 15, 2004

I woke up to a phone ringing. For some reason it was not very loud. Mickey spoke and said something like, "It was Mickey telling me to get up." I got dressed and headed to the Magic Kingdom for my transfer to the Contemporary Hotel. I went to the monorail since it goes right through that hotel. The Contemporary hotel is shaped like an A. I had made a PS in July for an 8:45 breakfast. A PS means a priority seating is Disney's reservation system for restaurants. This breakfast was different because, as you eat Disney characters come to your table and take pictures and sign autographs. I got pictures of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. I ate pancakes and sausage mostly, because I have a food allergy to egg. I boarded the monorail thanking that I would go straight to the Magic Kingdom. Nope that did not happen. Well, I did not ask for help and got off at the wrong place. I believe I got off at the Ticket and Transfer Center. I visited with the cast member for a little bit, and got instructions on where the Magic Kingdom was on the monorail. I really wanted to shoot myself for getting off at the wrong place. I finally boarded the monorail and got to see some fabulous hotels that surround the Magic Kingdom. I arrived at the Magic Kingdom and proceeded through the security checkpoint and the turnstile.

As I looked at Main Street USA, I started taking pictures of all of the shops. I should have gone straight to the barber shop, I really needed a haircut, but I wanted to explore. I browsed through the confectionary store because candy is my weakness. There are so many shops on Main Street. As I moved down Main Street I saw Cinderella's castle. It was so amazing to see a castle up close and personal. I was speechless when I saw it. I started my circular track around Magic Kingdom, starting on the far Eastern side with Adventureland. I decided the first thing I wanted to do was to go on the Jungle Cruise. I did not have long to wait, maybe 10 minutes. The cruise took people through different rivers of the world. The Nile and the Amazon were a few of the rivers that were discussed. There were many animals on this cruise including hippos and elephants. I exited the ride and took note of the fact that Pirates of the Caribbean was closed for rehab. I would later find out that it was getting stuck in the middle and stopping. I then went to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, I did not really thank this through. I am not terrified of roller coasters, my head spins. I decided to get in line and wait the 20 minutes. I heard an announcement saying that a rain storm was approaching and they may have to shut down the ride. Well I did get to ride it and I kept getting thrown all over the place. The ride was somewhat scary, but at least I could see where I was going. The ride did not harm me, but it was quite thrilling. I decided to skip Splash Mountain, as the rain was coming down. I took refuge in a restaurant called Pecos Bill. I ate some chili fries (my stomach did not appreciate that) and a drink. I left the restaurant and pulled out my map. One place I really wanted to go was Liberty Square, so I made my way down there.

Liberty Square is the patriotic side of Disney. I went into a building kind of shaped like the White House. This place houses a show called the Hall of Presidents. Outside of the theatre, but still in the building, every President picture was there, along with some great artifacts. The show was done using animatronics. Each character represents each President. It discussed the duties and roles that the presidents played in shaping and forming our nation. The current President Bush actually recorded his message for his animatronic. I felt very proud to be an American. I went on the Liberty Square Riverboat, I went to the top floor took some great pictures. I traveled to Fantasyland, but the park was extremely crowded. I noted which rides I liked and wanted to ride. I knew that I would be back on Sunday evening. This week was the rebooking for all of the Hurricane travelers. I did get a fast pass for Peter Pan. It said I can come back between 3:15 and 4:15. I walked to Mickey Toontown Fair and went inside of Mickey's house. I really like this house, his backyard and garden looked so neat. I got in line to see Mickey. I got my picture taken with Mickey by the Disney cast member, and then on my digital camera. I went next door to a store called County Bounty. That is where my pictures were supposed to be, but they said it would take about 90 minutes. I traveled back to the castle and went to Main Street USA for the Parade. Every Disney Character was on a beautiful float. Mickey was enclosed in a clear bubble and was waving. Aladdin was on the Genie float. I went back to the hotel, ate dinner, and freshened up. I went back to Magic Kingdom and went toward tomorrowland. I fastpassed Buzz Light year Space Ranger for a later time. I went on a moving show called Carousel of Progress, which shows and individual life for 100 years. I then went next door to the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. It is a Magnetic Levitator that took me all through Tomorrowland. I took note of Space Mountain and Astroblaster. Against my better senses, I did go on Astroblaster. We boarded an elevator and went up about 3 stories and got on planes. We flew up and down around all of the planets and got a bird's eye view of the castle. I traveled to County Bounty in Fantasyland to see if my pictures were back, but the line was very long. I got on the railroad and decided to take a tour of the whole park. The train went all around and after about 30 minutes I got off at the Main Street exit. I went to the Exposition Hall, (the camera place for Disney) and asked about there Kodak machine. To my disappointment, the machine was broken. I did get my pictures of Mickey. I went back to Tomorrowland, and it was now time for my fastpass. It took me about 10 minutes to go through the line. I boarded Buzz Light year and I had fun killing the aliens. I got 4700 points and I new that this was something I had to do again. I really wanted to stay for the night parade, but it was crowded. I could barely stand up when I finally reached the buses. I went back to my room and took a nice hot bath to help my muscles.

Thought for the day:

1. I should have brought my mug. Drinking lots of soda was not good for me
2. I knew there was a lot for me to do on Sunday at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
3. I walked so much, every muscle in my legs hurt.

Tomorrow I will go to Epcot for the day.

Day 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
