Day 5 (June 8-Tuesday)
Our intention was to make it to EE day at MGM; needless to say, we didn't get to the park until 9:00. I was very cranky about that. I would rather get up early and get going. I hate to stand in line. The boys (Dad included) don't seem to follow that same time schedule. Anyway, once we finally got into the park, I ran over to get fast pass for Rock n Roller coaster. That's all Ryan has been talking about, since he wasn't tall enough on our last visit. He is such a daredevil.
All of the lines were starting to get long. We went over to One Man's Dream. There was no one around. I almost thought it was closed. Nope, there was a CM there who said, Come on in!" I actually had time to read all of the signs and look at the dioramas, without other people pushing their way through. We saw the movie-brings a tear to my eye.
The animation studio is right around the corner, and we go on the tour. Nathan has been waiting for this, as his current career goals (at 9 years old) are to become a chef or an artist. It was so sad that everything is boarded up where the animators used to be. We skipped the drawing part, with the promise that we would come back another time.
Off to RNR for our fastpass. Nathan doesn't want to ride (I know he would hate it) so Ryan gets to ride twice (once with me, once with Steve). He is in heaven. After RNR, it is almost time for our PS at LeCellier. We take the "slow" boat over to Epcot and make it about 15 minutes early for our PS.
The meal was delicious. Kids steak and fries, Kids pasta, New York Strip, Pan Seared Tips, and 4 Iced teas. We also shared the Tomato Stack and Cheese Soup appetizer. $68.08 plus tip (I forgot to use my AP discount here). I didn't need to buy kids meals; they were too busy trying our adult meals. Ryan announced, "They make good food here!", as he practically inhaled the cheese soup. We were all stuffed when we left there.
As we came out of the restaurant, the CM working at the booth squirted Ryan with a mister fan. The boys had brought their own bottles, and soon an all out water battle broke out. The boys got the personalized leather bracelets. The CM kept teasing Ryan that she was going to put "TROUBLE" on his with a tinkerbell charm. We all had so much fun. The CM's kept sneaking up on the boys (even through the racks of shirts) when they were not expecting it, to squirt them. They were pretty wet when we left, but it was so hot, no one was complaining.
It was not very crowded, so we stayed at EPCOT. On our first day, we saw the pressed penny books, but thought we could buy them later. We had been on a mission to find them ever since, no luck. We had seen them at the Imagination Pavilion, so we rode the ride again (boys' request), but they were out of them in the shop.
Went over to the Land, got fastpass for Living with the Land, and saw Circle of Life. Waited a few minutes for our fast pass, and rode Living with the Land. I enjoyed this, but the tour guide seemed to keep forgetting his script. They were making Mickey shaped watermelons.
When we got off, the Junior Chef program had already started, we watched for a few minutes, but when the boys saw they couldn't participate, we moved on. Hopefully later.
We went over to the Living Seas. The new Nemo stuff is cute. We spent a large amount of time exploring here. When we got out the skies started looking black so we went over to Ellen's energy adventure to dodge the rain, with a stop at TT for fastpass (they were all out). Rode Ellen's ride. When we came out, it was pouring buckets. We waited for a while and ran over to Innoventions. We explored a while there, the kids made paper, and we toured the house of the future. When they closed at 7:00. We decided to go back to the camper.
We had parked our golf cart at the Settlement to catch a bus to MGM, but the bus from Epcot leaves you off at the Outpost. Since it was early, we thought we would ride the monorail to TTC and catch a bus or ferry back to Fort Wilderness. Well, the monorail broke down. We waited for about 25 minutes and then decided to just take the bus to FW and catch an internal bus. We waited forever for a bus to FW. We eventually made it back for snacks and sleep.
Day 6 (June 9-Wednesday)
We all slept in today, as we were going to the water park. We cooked a big breakfast in the camper and were off to Typhoon Lagoon by 10:30. We had 3 leftover Plusses from our Park Hopper Plus tickets from our last trip in November '02, so we used one of these today. TL was crowded but not unbearable. We did the wave pool, the lazy river twice, the Storm slides about 6 times, and even got to swim with the sharks.
Swimming with the sharks was a great experience. Neither of my boys are strong swimmers, but they give you a life jacket so off we went. Ryan panicked with breathing through the snorkel and that he was not allowed to kick his feet. The wonderful lifeguard came over and let him hold on to her floatation thing. I though she would take him right over to the exit, but she asked him if he wanted to see the fish, and swam him around for a while. He had a longer trip than all of us.
Nathan, who is usually very hesitant about everything, wanted to go again. None of us thought we could, so he went by himself! We were watching him the entire time, and he did great.
We got 2 hot dogs, a turkey leg, and a drink from the snack stand (about $15).
After we got back to FW, we decided to try to find the Wal-Mart. It was not a long trip and was pretty easy to find. We ate dinner at McDonald's while we were there.
On the way back we passed the Character outlet (I think it was the Lake Buena Vista Outlets), so we stopped. The boys bought packs of the WDW trading cards for $ .30 each. The newer version cards at the parks were $3.00. Not a bad deal.
We went back to the camper and I did some laundry. $2.00 per washer and $1.00 for 15 minutes in the dryer (it took about 3 times per load). The boys watched a DVD we bought at Wal-Mart because it was raining (it has rained every evening we were here so far).
