The Grady's Grand Disney Adventure

Day 8 (June 11-Friday)

After our late night yesterday, we slept in and took our time getting out the door (also gave the camper a much needed clean-up). We got to MGM around 12:00. It is Star Wars Weekend. We went to get a FP for Indiana Jones. The next show for FP wasn't until 1:45, so we decided to have lunch at Pizza Planet. Sounds Dangerous was just starting, so we popped in there on our way. Went over to Pizza Planet for lunch. The boys and I shared a pizza meal deal (pizza with a side salad) and an extra pizza. Steve had a Toy Story salad. All of this with a large drink was around $25. The pizza was good. We ate upstairs. This place was very loud and crazy busy.

After lunch, we went over and saw Muppets 3D. We had to rush to get to Indiana Jones. The boys loved this show. Nathan has really shown an interest in Indiana Jones lately. The movies were playing recently at home on TV. He wanted an Indy hat. I had a weak moment and let him get one. Definitely not dollarless - $30.00, but it made him happy.

I was determined to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. We went over and got FP. We took the backlot tour while we were waiting. I really miss not going down the street with the house facades.

As we walked back up the street to the Little Mermaid-we saw Jedi Mickey was inside today. We went in to take a picture of him. We didn't want to wait in line to get our picture done with him. We only wanted a picture of Mickey dressed in his Star Wars costume. Here we encountered the rudest CM ever. After we got to the end of the line, I asked her if I could take a picture of Mickey (from where I stood). She kept saying, "Move forward, move all the way forward." I was getting set to take my picture and she came over and stood in front of me on purpose. I was not interfering with anyone else or holding up the line. There were probably at least 50 people in front of us. A woman came in behind us and asked to take a picture and the CM did the exact same thing to her.

There were Star Wars characters all along the street where the character trailers are. I did not recognize many of them (I am the only person in the universe who hasn't seen the Star Wars movies). Ryan traded a pin with one of them. I will have to do my research to find out his name.

It was finally time for our FP for VoLM. We didn't know you had to be there 15 minutes early for FP for this show-so we missed it again. Walked over towards Indy again, passing the Prime Time Café. Steve and I ate here on our honeymoon (in 1991). He asked if I thought we could eat there. I went in and they said 30 minute or less wait (it was actually 10). So in we went. Our server was Uncle David. He didn't do anything special with us, but was a good server. We were entertained by the other servers. One guy kept pushing this boy, who was in a wheel chair, around telling everyone it was his birthday and it was his world tour 2004. He came around again later, telling everyone he was looking for a girlfriend for him. The group of ladies in the corner kept getting in trouble. One of them had to stand in the corner for tattling. I had the Pot Roast, Steve had the Grilled Chicken, Ryan had the Hot Dog, and Nathan had the pasta. We all shared the Dad's Sundae. With drinks for all, the total was $50.84 plus tip. I used my Disney Rewards card here also. Very good food. The kids' portions were rather small, though.

When we came out, people were starting to line up for the parade. We staked out our spot and waited. We all enjoyed the parade. Maybe this time I would get to see the VoLM. We went over there and got in the FP line. They let us in and we waited in the queue room for 20 minutes, but I finally got to see the show. It was very good-I don't remember getting wet during this show before. I haven't seen it in over 3 years though.

After VoLM, we went into the Great Movie Ride. There are parts of this ride the kids don't like, so I tell them when to close their eyes. The park has really cleared out now. We go over to Star Tours and get on immediately. I had another weak moment and ride it with Steve and the boys. I hate these kind of simulator rides, they make me so queasy-I'm not sure why.

By this time it is 8:00. We weren't planning on staying so long today, but decided to stay for Fantasmic because we are here, so we won't have to do it later. We get some popcorn and sit to wait for 1 hour for it to start. The show was fabulous, but it was very hot and humid waiting for it. Got on the bus back to FW and we were back at the camper at 10:15.

Today was the first day with no rain!
