Day 11 (June 14-Monday)
This morning we get a slow start and decide to hang out at the camper. I do some laundry and call my work to check in. We eat lunch in the camper and decide to head to Downtown Disney to do some shopping. We check out all of the shops. Steve and I buy each other a Mickey watch for our anniversary next week (June 22) at World of Disney. We got 10% discount for our annual pass. I also bought some stuff for my Mickey kitchen (dishtowels, creamer, sugar, and the new Mickey Chef beanie). Ryan got a stuffed Stitch (his favorite-I think it is because he and Stitch are so much alike). Nathan has collected the ceramic figurines since our trip when he was 4. He got Stitch and Ariel this time.
Ryan insists on smelling everything at Basin. I buy him a slice of his favorite soap, the strawberry. The boys filled those colored sugar tubes at the candy store.
As the storm clouds roll in, we go to Rainforest for dinner. We are seated next to the gorilla (which gave us all a good jump the first time he started grunting and moving). I joined the Safari Club from home (through the mail), about 3 months ago. I had a $10 off gift certificate from that. I also had a $25 gift card from mypoints.com. We were pretty disappointed with this meal. Steve had a platter with ribs, chicken and shrimp. Nathan and I shared the steak and shrimp meal. Ryan had the kids chicken nugget meal. Steve and I had iced tea and the boys got those expensive frozen drinks. I really didn't like how when the server first came to the table, he asked the kids directly if they wanted these frozen drinks (at $2.99 each). How was I supposed to say no after that? My steak was very dry and you only got about 7 or 8 shrimp. Our dinner (before tip, the 10% safari club discount, the gift card, and my $10 coupon) was around $70. (Post trip note-when we got home in the mail was another $5 gift certificate for my birthday-which was in May-too late).
While we are in eating dinner, there was an actual big rainstorm outside. When we got back to FW, we headed over to MK. It started to sprinkle as we get on the bus, which turned into a steady rain that lasted all evening. First thing we go to Tomorrowland. The Timekeeper is open! It hasn't been open in all of our trips since 1999. We go in and see the show.
We kind of wander around looking for things to do. A lot of attractions are closed due to the storm. We go to Toontown and tour Minnie and Mickey's houses. Goofy's coaster is not open. The boys and Steve ride the teacups on our way by. We haven't ridden the Jungle Cruise yet so we walk over. It is also closed. The parade has been cancelled. It is now 9:00 so we decide to give it up and go back to FW.
Day 12 (June 15-Tuesday)
The boys have been asking to go fishing, so this morning Steve takes them. We bought bait at the bike barn and they fished for about 1 hour. They got a few nibbles, but didn't catch anything. I call Disney Visa and transfer my points from this month's statement (which closes on the 11th) over to my reward card. They are available immediately. I use some of them to pay for lunch.
After fishing, we head out with no plan in particular. We get on the boat that goes to Contemporary and the Wilderness Lodge. We stop at Wilderness Lodge to have lunch at Whispering Canyon. We all enjoyed our meal here. Our server was Doc Willis. He had his mouse, "Squeaky" with him. The kids took part in the stick pony races. Steve had Nutty Chicken Salad, I had the Meatloaf, and the boys shared the Vegetarian Pasta. We all shared a bowl of Tomato Basil soup. With 4 Iced teas, the total was $40.76 before tip (including 10% AP Discount). Good food, large portions. When we left Wilderness Lodge, we decided to get on the first bus that came. It happened to be TTC.
Once at the TTC, we took a monorail to Epcot. The boys really wanted to ride Mission Space, so we finally get a FP. While waiting for FP time, we see Honey I Shrunk the Audience. I have seen this at Disneyland, but it was new to Steve and the boys. After the movie, we explore the other Innoventions and play the Pizza Game. It was now time for FP for Mission Space. Steve and the boys loved it. We have to leave the park now. We have reservations for Hoop De Doo Review.
We make it to Hoop De Doo, with time for a stop at the camper to change clothes. We all absolutely loved this show. I have never heard Nathan and Ryan giggle so much. We had excellent seats (second row, center stage)-Thank you Laurie at TMFL. The food is good and plentiful, although I was too busy enjoying the show and didn't eat much.
