M-Y Family trip report - Day 7 "This is boring!"
Today is MGM day. Upon arrival Dad and DD want to do Tower of Terror. DS and I do a little shopping, get some popcorn and then wait for them to show up. Once we are reunited we get in line for the Great Movie Ride. DS keeps asking if this is really a ride and not just another show. I don't think he's convinced it's a ride until we are actually in the car and moving. Even though it IS a ride, he is not impressed and thinks it's boring.
After GMR we wander around looking for the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area. Between misreading the map and having a street blocked because they are getting ready for the Osborne Family Festival of Lights, it takes us awhile to find the play area. We send the kids into the mayhem and station ourselves with the other parents near the exit. This is the best part of the day as far as DS is concerned.
After they've had a chance to expend some energy we go to the Backlot Express, planning to have a quick bite, only to discover it is already closed. We skip eating in favor of riding Star Tours and then seeing Muppets 3D movie. We all enjoy ST but Mr. "Is this another show?" is not happy with Muppets.
It is nearly closing time. Dad and DD make a run for one more ride on ToT while DS and I go to order an embroidered sweatshirt for Gramma. The line in the store is long and DS is whiny. I know that once again he will be falling asleep in the van as soon as he's strapped in and I am not wrong.
Dinner tonight is just take out from Burger King eaten at the cabin. We consider a trip over to the pool, but it's a little cool out and we are all tired.
M-Y Family trip report, day 8 - "Another Attempt"
Today we find ourselves once again in EPCOT. I am DETERMINED to enjoy some of the festival's food selections today, so we make a beeline for World Showcase and take a left toward Mexico. First stop is to watch some Peruvian dancers right next to the Peru food kiosk. I make my first purchase: Papas rellenas, potato stuffed with mildly spicy beef, served with a corn relish. This is delicious. While I am getting that, Dad is getting a lamb chop at the New Zealand kiosk. My selection is much better than his. While the lamb is nicely cooked, it's kind of mundane.
On to the Mexican kiosk where we get a chicken taco and a couple of cups of watermelon juice. The taco is ok, the juice is very good. DS takes one taste and exclaims "It tastes like watermelon!" Um, yeah, it does!
We ride Rio del Tiempo, then go looking for more food.
The next stop is corned beef and cabbage at the Ireland kiosk, accompanied by a glass of meade. While I am not impressed with the meade, I love the corned beef.
There is nothing at the Scandanavian kiosk that appeals to us. We decide to check out the selections at Kringla and get 3 pastries. While eating outside Kringla, DD meets another girl her age and they do some pin trading. Months ago I had bought DD a bunch of pins at cheappins.com, just so she would have multiples to trade during this trip. The other girl was very happy that DD had an extra Roo pin and was willing to trade.
The next two food stops are for Chicken Sha Cha in China and and Chicken Sambel in Southeast Asia. The former is fantastic and the latter is way too spicy for my tastes.
We skip the African kiosk because we have plans to return to Boma in a few days.
At this point we decide to stop eating. We have dinner PS at Le Cellier and would like to be able to enjoy our meal there. We hop a boat for a s-l-o-w trip to Canada. Dad and DD get fast passes for TT and then we all head over to the Land. There is quite a long line, but we get in it and wait. I always like the trip through the greenhouses to see what they are growing now.
We split up again with the plan to meet back in Canada in time for dinner.
Dinner at LeCellier: DD has pasta, DS has a hot dog and fries, Dad has NY strip with potatoes that were under cooked. I have the mixed field greens with bleu cheese and pecans (very good) followed by the free range chicken (just ok) served with mashed potatoes (really, really good). For dessert DD gets the chocolate mousse moose, I get the cheesecake (ok, but nothing special) and Dad and DS split a piece of chocolate cake.
