Day 5- Sunday, September 19, 2004
We slept in till after 9am, and went to the 10:30 service at Calvary Chapel South Orlando. (FYI- we attend Calvary Chapel Boston.) The church is only 4
years old, and there were less than 100 people there. Our church is over 3000. But it was a nice way to meet "real" people in Orlando! ; )
After church, we went searching for the Belz outlet- what a pain! It was so confusing, we ended up on the FL pike by accident and went so far out of the
way. Then we end up finding it, and what a disappointment. I thought I was going to find some great deals, but I didn't. *sigh* I did get a $10 MK shirt for me,
a $5 shirt for my son, a couple keychains for souvenir presents, and a couple $3 pins for trading. I thought it was a waste of time, actually. I guess it must be
"hit or miss".
Since we wanted to check out both water parks, we got our swimsuits and went to Typhoon Lagoon. Another waste of time. After 2 hours, we decided to leave...
so we went back to Blizzard Beach! We stayed at BB till it closed at 6, went back to our resort, showered, and headed over to Downtown Disney. We had a $25
gift certificate for Planet Hollywood, so we went there for dinner, and we were able to beat the rush. Good food, but I wouldn't pay full price.
We just strolled around, looking in stores occasionally, but mostly just relaxing and enjoying the great breeze. We *planned* to go to the Comedy
Warehouse and Adventurer's Club, but Mike ended up feeling sick, so we didn't do either. Instead, we went back to the resort and had dessert there. Mike promised
that we would go back to Downtown Disney to check out the Adventurer's Club, though.
At this point, I'm really starting to enjoy Florida. It's really hot and humid during the day, but as soon as the sun goes down, the weather is *perfect*.
Day 6, Monday September 20, 2004
Today was all about Epcot and our first stop was Test Track. It was awesome : ) Of course I wish it had been longer! When we got off the ride, the line was
ridiculous, otherwise we would have done it again.
I made sure to stop at Ice Station Cool. Mike loves Coca-Cola, so I thought he would get a kick out of trying the different Cokes from around the world. He
tried the Italian one and hated it! I thought he was going to be sick! The only other one he tried was the watermelon one- which he liked. I didn't hate the
Italian one, but it was... um, different. I LOVED the watermelon one. I thought the worst one was whichever one's label looked like a "Mello Yello" label. That
was nasty.
We went over to the Imagination Pavilion and saw "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" (the "mice" freaked me out! I pulled my feet up and had them on the
seat in front of me!) and "Journey into the Imagination with Figment". Journey was so cute- my 2 yo son would have LOVED it! Mike and I were both surprised to
see it was a ride, we thought it was going to be a movie or something. At 12 noon, we went to the Land Pavilion for our PS at the Garden Grill. I
met Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. Our waitress was slow, but friendly, and I thought the food was great.
Mickey came over first- before our meal was even served. He pointed to my Minnie ears and motioned for me to get out of the booth. I jumped up, hugged
him, got his autograph and Mike took a pic of us. YAY! 27 years- I FINALLY met MICKEY!!!
Dale and Chip came next (separately). I hugged Dale, got a pic and autograph, then I did the same for Chip. But Chip pushed Mike further into the
booth and sat down with him. Chip took the camera from Mike and gave it to me! :) So I took their picture. Before leaving, Chip hugged me again, and "kissed"
me!
Pluto came over next and he was so fun! He made me kiss his nose, then acted so embarrassed, pulling his ears over his face. When he hugged me, he
accidentally knocked my Minnie ears off. He was too funny, acting like he was so upset and felt so bad. When he signed my autograph book, he rested the book on
his nose! I said, "Oh! Pluto is a lefty!" and he turned and looked at me quickly, then held his stomach as if he was belly laughing.
Mickey ended up coming back around, so I showed him my plush Mickey and Minnie keychains. He got so excited, grabbed them from me and made them kiss! At
first it was like a bunch of little kisses, then there was one long kiss, and I said, "Wow, Mickey, that's a great kiss!" He turned to me and nodded quickly,
then went back to making them kiss! : ) Then he looked at me again, and covered his face like he was embarrassed!
Dale came around a second time as we were eating dessert. I patted the seat next to me and he sat down. He grabbed a plate and pretended to pour the apple
crisp into the front pocket of his overalls, put his finger to his mouth to say "shh" and tiptoed away. Chip came and hugged us both. The waitress came over, so
Chip grabbed her and they "danced" away. Mike paid the bill, and as we were walking out, we saw Pluto. He came over, hugged us goodbye. I didn't want to
leave! I felt like a little kid- I really wanted to stay and play with them all! We got to the front door of the Land Pavilion and it was pouring rain
outside! People were running in past us, and there was a CM selling ponchos from a cart! (Disney knows how to make money, huh?) Now, I had bought 2 ponchos from
Wal-Mart for $.78 each, and I had taken an umbrella with me, and had it all in my backpack. But remember how I bought a new totebag? Well, I didn't switch the
ponchos or the umbrella over to my new bag! UGH! So Mike bought us 2 ponchos for $6 each. They are clear, with Mickey on the back. To Disney's credit, they were
not the cheapie garbage bag ponchos I thought they would be. We put them on, stepped into the rain, and... the rain stopped. We walked to the World Showcase,
and by the time we got to Mexico, took off our *perfectly dry* ponchos, folded them up and put them in my bag. Now, Mike and I have a joke about how he bought
sunshine for only $12!
We went on Mexico's boat ride "El Rio del Tempo", went on Norway's "Maelstrom" (2 thumbs up), watched some performers drumming in China, met Snow
White in Germany, and bought chocolate from Germany and Italy. I got dark chocolate bark in Germany and it was delicious! Get some! In Italy, we bought a
couple Baci ("kiss") chocolates. They are my favorite candy; I go to Boston's little Italy to buy them, so it was nice to get some in WDW!
(Tell me, what is up with the wooden Viking Ship in Norway? The sign says "to explore a Viking Ship"- but it's nothing! It's a wooden box with no top!
LOL- Mike and I decided that was the 'worst ride ever". LOL)
We skipped America (it was deserted! Nothing was happening), browsed through the stores in Japan, and I got a great cup of coffee in Morocco. We went back to
Italy to watch the 3pm performance of Imaginum (the living statue). That guy was hilarious!
Next, we went to France and watched the "Impressions de France", which was breathtaking- I never realized how beautiful France was. We caught a street
improv just beginning in the UK. It was "My Unfair Lady". This time when I cried, it was because I was laughing so hard. I mean, my side was KILLING, it
was too funny! We moved on to Canada, and went into the theater to watch "O Canada!", but we actually left before it started. We were both so tired, we
needed to rest a bit. Mike said that he's surprised that Disney hasn't set up "Nap Areas" in the parks.
We went back to our room to rest for about 2 hours, then went back to Epcot and had dinner at "Le Cellier" in Canada. Dinner ran late, so we didn't get to
see all of Illuminations, which I regret. I'm sure I'll be able to see it the NEXT time we go to Epcot! : )
