Moe & Mike - September 2004

Day 2 - Thursday, September 16, 2004

We both woke up around 8 (ahh!), got ready and grabbed coffee on our way out. I had bought Minnie ears (headband style) at my local Disney Store, so I had them on. Since Day 1 was so evil, we decided that we deserved the Magic Kingdom right NOW! Yay! Now THIS is more like it!

We took a wrong turn somewhere, so it took a little longer than necessary to get to MK, but who cares? We got there. On the parking lot tram, we were sitting in the very back row, in front of the woman giving the announcements. As soon as the tram started, my ears flew off! The CM caught them and everyone had a good laugh, and we clapped for the CM's quick reflexes! : ) And not that the tram was fun enough, but now I got to ride the monorail too! (Mike and I are Simpson's fans, so we kept singing the "monorail!" song- a couple kids sang with us!) I practically ran down the ramp from the monorail with some other kids. Parents were yelling for their kids to stop, so Mike yelled at me too. : ) Mike was wearing a Red Sox shirt, and while my backpack was being checked, a security guard (and a Yankees fan from Jersey) started to tease Mike about the Sox. Mike loved it! So into Main Street-

FRIENDS- it was awesome! Better and bigger than I imagined! So beautiful and colorful. Right away I ran into the Exposition Hall only because it was closest to me... I had to see the inside. Then we looked around the square. I stopped in the middle of the street, looked down Main Street and saw *sigh* the Castle! Mike took a couple pics of it, while I cried! I did! I cried, I knew I would. Eventually, I stopped and we went into the Emporium to browse around. Half way through, we went back outside, just as a trolley came by with CM/street performers. They jumped off the trolley and started "singing" and dancing right in front of us. It was as if they timed it for *me*. I grew up with black and white movies, so I was singing along with all the showtunes, having a blast! It was almost 10am, we grabbed some breakfast, sat outside of Casey's Corner, and watched most of Cinderella's Surprise Celebration. Not the greatest view, but we heard everything. When Hook raised the pirate flag on the castle, I yelled, "Yay pirates!" and a little boy looked at me like I just broke his heart, so I said, "I mean, Yay Peter Pan!" He just kept staring at me. LOL Before the show ended, we headed to Tomorrowland. The first ride we came to was Buzz Lightyear's, and it had no line, so we jumped on. That conveyor belt is a great idea, BTW. I had a goofy smile on my face, the whole time- it was so fun! When we got off the ride, I look to my right at the outdoor theater and I see Buzz walking towards us! I grabbed Mike and ran over with my autograph book in hand. I think I heard the CM/Buzz laughing at me- I almost knocked him over! Next we saw the Carousel of progress, which we weren't planning on doing, but there was hardly a line, so we went in. I'm still singing that cute song. The 2nd scene made my electrician husband laugh out loud with all the electrical cords all over the place and especially when the fuse blew.

Onto Space Mountain! After talking to Jud, I decided that I am tough enough to do it. However,I was shaking in line so bad, that the folks around us became my own cheerleaders. I was horrified when I saw the single seats- I thought for sure I would be able to sit with Mike. I made him sit in front, though, so I could grab his head if I got scared. It was great! In fact, when it stopped I said, "That's it??" and everyone laughed.

Since we knew we were coming back to MK on Tuesday and Wednesday, we decided to skip around and not do it all today. By this time, there was another CSC in front of the castle, so we went to fantasyland which was practically deserted. Someone had said that the Snow White ride used to be really scary, but WDW tuned it down a bit. Hmmm... how scary was it? Because it was scary! Not for me, but for the little kids who were screaming and crying it was! I told Mike that I was traumatized by the ride and would need some retail therapy- so we poked in and out of the shops for a bit. We saw that Mickey's PhilharMagic had a short line, so we jumped in there. This was GREAT! Possibly my favorite attraction at MK! Mike too!

We walked thru Liberty Square and Frontierland looking for somewhere to eat lunch, but somehow (hee hee_ ended up on Splash Mountain instead. And I screamed on the first hill- you know? where all the characters laugh at you? Yeah- they were laughing at me! : ) I was in the front seat on the right- I was SOAKED! We decide to do Pirates, grab lunch, then leave.

I love the movie PotC- in fact, that movie was my big motivating factor to go to WDW. Sadly, I was a little disappointed in the ride. Like alot of the rides, it seemed to be slightly slower than necessary. Then the boats were backed up, so we bumped a boat and sat there for a while looking at everything repeating itself.

We got hot dogs at Casey's Corner and watched some of the cartoons before leaving. Monorail to tram to car to resort to relax for a bit before mike's team was going to have some batting practice at 5.

We arrived at the WWoS early, so we toured the grounds. If you've never been there, take an hour and just walk around- it's very nice. Well, the team arrived and started to practice, and I realized I wasn't seeing clearly. My stomach was hurting and I started to get an awful headache. After practice, the rest of the team wanted to tour the grounds, so I found a nice spot to rest for a while. Then it started to rain, so I had to move and find a dry spot. I stumbled a couple of times, as if something was pushing me down.

When we got back to the resort, I grabbed a tuna sub and water and headed tot he room without Mike. I got into my nightgown, and looking at my room made me feel more sick. By the time Mike got to the room, I had an unbelievable migraine and the room was spinning. Of course, I forgot to pack my migraine pills! It got so bad, Mike called a nurse to see what to do for me.

Well, I got sick. Mike ran down to the store to get crackers and ginger ale. He could only find Sprite, but he got some Tylenol. I crawled back into bed, my stomach better and the spinning gone. Mike was watching the DVC channel, and tried to talk to me about it. I told him that he could look into it after I died. : ) So he rubbed my head till I fell asleep (then he went back to the arcade!)
