Day 4
We again take a leisurely approach to the morning, and I think that this has been a great way to handle our week. There is a brief mention of Jim
wanting to check out of the hotel today - a day early. The girls are going home with their grandparents this evening to spend the night, and Jim would
like to go diving in South Florida with some friends tomorrow. We phone the grandparents and decide to meet them at 11 at EPCOT, so Jim decides against
diving, since he would have to leave EPCOT by 2 to meet his friend at the dive shop before they close to get his gear in order. Whew! We stay put
another night.
Again, we find no lines anywhere. We arrive a few minutes early, and walk right up to a ticket window to get a pass for Eilis (our annual passes
expire at the end of this trip, and we decide not to renew until we come back). We head inside, and are able to ride Spaceship Earth before the
in-laws are in the gate. At this point, Jim and Brighid head over to Test Track for fast passes, but finding no line, they head in and ride the ride.
They decide against fast passes for Mission: Space, as Jim worries they won't get back in time for the fast pass time (he will not admit to getting
a wee bit nauseous last time, which is the real reason he skips fast passes). We had been waiting at the Living Seas for Jim and Brighid, and
Pop-pop decided to take Eilis inside. They were right in line for the Hydrolators, when Eilis decides she needs to use the bathroom. Pop panics,
and out they come, just as Jim and Brighid are walking up. Brighid runs Eilis to the potty, and we decide to head to the Land for some lunch. Eilis
and Brighid meet us out front, and Brighid runs ahead to see if we can get a table at the Garden Grill before we head down to the food court. No wait,
come right in, have a seat! We are seated immediately at the Garden Grill and barely get our butts in the chairs before Mickey Mouse comes by! The
only complaint I have here is that my digital camera is finicky in poor light, and this is definitely poor light. We had a ton of visits by the
characters - even one where one of the chipmunks fed Eilis a few bites of her lunch. This was the first time we've done lunch here, but the meal was
the same except for the salad - I missed the salad, as the dressing is sooooo good.
After lunch, we found our first line of the trip. The wait time for the boat ride through the land is 50 minutes. We get fast passes, although
Grandmom says she doesn't want to go, and we decide to head back to the Living Seas. Grandmom decides to wait at the Land, since she uses a
wheelchair and doesn't want to have to be pushed over to the Living Seas only to be pushed back to the Land again. The Living Seas was fun for
Eilis, boring a bit for Brighid. Back at the Land, I feel bad that my MIL has been sitting out by herself all this time, and I stay with her while
everyone else rides the boat ride. I catch up on the family gossip - which is considerable, especially since my husband has no interaction whatsoever
with any member of his family. By the time we are getting to the juicy bits, the rest of the family pops out and they are ready to be on their way.
We are at EPCOT today for one reason. Brighid LOVES the Food and Wine festival. We spend the next long while cruising from country to country,
sampling the delicious cuisine. Eilis is enjoying the shows in the various countries, which we manage to catch quite a few of as we wander around. The
only other ride we did was Maelstrom - which I sat out again with my MIL. It was Eilis' first time, and she loved it.
By now, it was getting close to 6 PM, and I was tired. We decided to head to the front of the park again and let Eilis ride Spaceship Earth one more
time before we unloaded their overnight bags into the grandparents' car.
No one was really hungry for dinner, so we decided to part ways after watching a musical performance by a very large Mariachi type band.
Jim and I got back to CBR and walked around a bit. By the time we got back to our room, we were both a bit hungry and Charlie Brown's Halloween show
was coming on, so we phoned for delivery. We had a yummy meal of salad, turkey wraps, and fruit, and we were both asleep by 10.
Tomorrow: We move to Animal Kingdom Lodge
