MNSSHP - October 24th Party (Sunday night)
This has been an annual tradition for us since our oldest daughter was about 5, and each year, we have a wonderful time. This year was no exception,
although we did notice differences.
We always start the party off with dinner at LTT. We arrived at 6 PM and were given our wrist bands and treat bags at the gate to MK. We were
ushered through to Tomorrowland, and walked on Buzz Lightyear twice and the Tomorrowland Transit authority before the girls spotted a treat stop. They
went over, picked up their treats, and by then, it was close to 6:45. We began the walk over to LTT, and were seated there within about 5 minutes.
The meal was so good that we lingered longer than usual, and missed the ride of the headless horseman. We got an excellent spot for the parade right
outside the restaurant - there were tons of great spots, as the park was really very empty. The parade, as always, was awesome, with Eilis excited
over the characters, and Brighid, my little PETA member in training, upset at the caged dalmatians.
We hit just about every ride we could with a 3 year old in tow, and the longest we waited for anything was 15 minutes for the Pooh ride. Most of
the rides were literally walk ons for us - although we did not try things like Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, or anything Eilis could not do.
Loved how Toontown was. I think this is how it was last year as well, but I don't remember it as well as in previous years. There were about 5 trick or
treat stations all in a row, and characters and clowns. Eilis loved it, although she really wanted to go back and do the rides. We did not hit all
the treat stations, as it was more important for the kids to ride things.
The treats this year were somewhat disappointing compared with years past. We did get about 100 individually wrapped hard candies - most of which got
tossed into Eilis's stroller at the station where we got the kids' picture taken. There were two male CMs there and they delighted in seeing how many
they could toss into the stroller from however far back they were. I didn't think that was too cool - throwing candy at a 3 year old, and she was
flinching with every toss, even though none actually hit her. We moved out of there fairly quickly. The other candy was mostly bite sized Snickers
bars and other small candies, however, on the way out, they were giving out full sized rolls of Shockers and full sized boxes of Nerds. The kids were
excited over those. But, the trick or treating is actually only a small part of the whole evening, so they weren't too disappointed with the candy.
Overall, this is still an experience we will continue to hold as an annual tradition. The park was completely un-crowded, and it was a great way to
ride some of our favorite things without waiting. It's nice to see everyone in costume - some were pretty creative, like the family dressed as the
Incredibles, or another that was dressed as a hockey team. There were lots of Disney character costumes, but you can't smile too many times at tiny
little princesses or Buzz Lightyears. It was a great party.
