Day 9 and Wrap-Up: Saturday December 17 2006
Weather: high 70, low 55. rainy and very gloomy.
Our last day here. So sad. we finished packing and checked out of the hotel.
We shopped so much that we had to buy 2 more suitcases to fit everything in.
We checked all of our bags while they printed our boarding passes. we
hopped on the bus to go to Animal Kingdom. Our last park of the trip. The
gloomy day matched our mood. we were so sad to be taking our last steps in
the world. We walked the paths throught the oasis and saw some really
beautiful birds. Yesterday Chris had started to collect the stamps at all of the
kids stations. The only one he still needed was the one in Camp Mickey
Minnie. We walked over the bridge and checked out the stone dinosaur
waterfall. Thankfully the kids station was open. After Chris did the project
there, he was sworn in as a defender of animals and what ever else they do (I
can't remember).
We hurried off to see the Pocahontas show, got seats and watched about 5 minutes of the show before it was cancelled due to the rain. We walked straight over to see the Lion King show and got right in and in the 3rd row. We were in the warthog section. The show as always amazing as always. After the show we started to line up at the character meeting trails, but since the Magical express bus was picking us up at 1:00 and we had meet these characters through out our visit, we decided to skip it and headed off to see Tarzan. We had never seen this show, and since it is closing in January, we knew we had to see it now or never. Chris loves skateboarding and things like that so he really enjoyed the show. Tarzan and the singer from the band were pretty easy on the eyes as well for me and Mom! After the show, we knew it was time to head back to the hotel. We did a final bit of shopping on the way out and went back to Pop.
We retreived our carry on luggage and waited outside for the bus. I was being very careful with my gingerbread house. That was going on the plane with me! The bus picked us up and I fell asleep on the way to the airport. When I woke up, the video on the bus started to play the ending song to the Mickey Mouse Club: "now its time to say goodbye to all our family"... Couldn't handle it! Got tears in my eyes! Big Disney dork! It was so sad to say goodbye to our favorite place on earth.
Especially since we had no plans to go back for a couple of years. Our plane
took off and landed on time. Back to Chicago winter.
Wrap up:
It took a good week to go through the 900 Disney bags that we brought back.
many of the them were Christmas presents. My mom even surprised me with
some special Disney presents! Christmas day, we watched the parade as
always. When one of the CM's said to "come on down" we both looked at
eachother and said "OK!" We are now planning a trip down in October for both
of our birthdays! We just can't escape the lure of Disney. We are junkies. For
Christmas, she surpried me with the 5 pack DVD of the parks. Just watching
them walking down Main Street USA make me sob! I haven't been able to
make it though all of them yet! They are wonderful DVD's though and take you
through many of the rides and attractions. Its almost like being there. She also
got me the DVD Walt Disney, the man behind the myth, a CD of the original
DL music and the 2 CD set of Disney world music which includes the Soarin
music. She also got me the 50th anniversary mouse pad, 50th anniversary
notecards and collector book. It truly was the most magical December ever.
Now, off to plan my next trip!
