Kris and Family - May 2005

Cast: Myself Kris, Brian (DH), Allie- 10, Brooke- 4, Drew-2, Karen- sister, Nina- 10, Brandon- 8, Hunter-7

Day 1 - Monday, May 16, 2005

We arrived at All-Star Sports around 8:30. Our room was in building 10 room 201. We watched 24 as we unpacked and then let the kids walk around the hotel. Check in was no problem and the room location was great for us. Were we close to the Baseball pool and the food court and buses.

Day 2 - Tuesday, May 17, 2005

Mickey called to wake us up and we were at the gates of MK by 8:40. We met my sister and her kids and Alex at the gates. After entering the gates we had the girls run to get in line at the rope drop to wake up TinkerBell. After entering the shop we were told to stand by the counter. While we were standing there a lady put her daughter on the stool in front of Tinkerbell's box. I explained to the CM we were there first, but the lady was not moving and I was fuming. The CM's let Brooke also wake up Tink, but it was not the same for me at least. Brooke was so excited and that was what counted. We checked out the dresser key hole and we were off to ride Peter Pan. We then rode Orbiter, Buzz and the Indy Cars before heading into Toon Town for the Barnstormer. We ran into Push on our way to Toon Town. My sister and the older kids were in the back and were able to ride a couple times since there were no new riders waiting for their seats. Brian took Brooke and Drew to! ride It's a Small World and the Carrousel while we rode Space Mountain. We checked out the ghosts on our way to the other mountains. Brooke was finally tall enough, but screamed the whole wait to get on the Thunder Mountain. We felt she would be fine or we would not have pushed her to go on. A great CM told her she would slow the ride down for her. By the first hill she had her hands in the air and at the end she was yelling to do it again which we did. My sister had to pick up her rental car, so we took Drew and went to get the car. Brian took the rest of the kids on Splash and Pirates. They ran into Mickey and Minnie on their way out of the park and I am so glad I left a camera in the stroller. I dropped my sister at the RV and headed back to the room to make lunch and swim. That night we headed back to Epcot and rode Figment and walk around the world eating from different counter services. Brooke liked her Gluten Free pizza from American Adventure. We found a spot for Illuminations and all the kids enjoyed it and we headed for the bus. They had two busses waiting so there was no wait. We had no problem with any waits for a bus on this trip. This was nice since we are use to driving to the parks. I still like driving better, but we may use the bus more now.

Day 3 - Wednesday, May 18, 2005

This morning we decided to go to MGM to get this park out of the way before Star Wars weekend, but we ended up going back for it anyway. We got to the park and went to RNRC, I stayed with Brooke and Drew in the gift shop. Brandon did not like the ride so I opted to pass on our Fastpasses for ToT. We found a family to give then to and headed for Star Tours. We ended up stopping to see Lilo who was just coming out in front of the hat. We tried to take Brooke on Star Tours but she was screaming again and I choose to let Brian take the older kids on the ride. We met in the store and all the kids got light sabers which over the next couple days keeping track of 6 was not a highlight of the trip. We headed for the Indy show (we sat in the back corner so we could exit without getting up in front of people) and left right before the end to make the Stunt show. The show is OK; I think there are better shows. I will make a note this was the second show in a row for the kids and they were restless. Being a little stressed at the time could have also be the reason behind my attitude at the show. We then headed over to the Playground so the kids could run around and then we waited for the Power Rangers outside. We were first in line for the Pink Ranger which is who Brooke wanted to see. On the way out of MGM we decided to catch the boat and meet my sister and BIL at Beaches and Cream. We had a nice long wait for 3 tables together while my sister and BIL got to the resort. We got one of our favorites the kitchen sink and were able to finish it with that many people. My sister and BIL were going to Epcot so we walked with them planning to get the bus in front of Epcot. We decided to try Soarin since that is where my sister was heading. My sister had a special assistance pass for my nephews, and we used it for this ride. My sister was scared to go on since we is terrified of heights and gets car sick, but I told her to trust me and she was glad she did. She loved the ride and they rode it several times dur ing the rest of their trip. Tip- do not seats on the end seat if you are scared of heights. If you do sit there, DO NOT look over the side of the seat. This ride got rave reviews from all our family members. We then headed over to Test Track and there was no line, so Brooke gave it a try and also liked it. The kids did the movie thing after the ride since there was also no line for that either. We split up after Test Track and we headed back to our hotel. On our way out we rode Spaceship Earth. We ate dinner in the food court and then when headed back to the room. After the little kids feel asleep Alex and I went back to MK for EMH. We made it into the MK at 10:30 and rode Space Mountain, Tea Cups, IASW, Thunder Mountain, Jungle Cruise and Aladdin 2X. On our way out Alex pick up some things she had wanted in the gift shop and we were back at the room by 12:30. It was nice to have some time with just Alex in the parks letting her do what she wants to do.

Day 4 - Thursday, May 19, 2005

My sister had the morning off so we met in the parking lot of Animal Kingdom and parked right behind them. I am not sure we could have done that again if we tried. We headed to Dinoland and split up. Brian took Brooke and Drew on Tricera Top Spin a couple times. Karen took Hunter on Dinosaur and I took the rest of the kids on Primeval Whirl. Then kids then rode alone since there was no line and one of us waited at the exit for them. As we were walking out of Dinoland we ran into Lucky. The kids loved watching her and she is amazing. We then did Kali River Rapids twice again due to no lines. Drew played in the water outside the ride and looked like he went on the ride. We then headed towards the Safari. We had a great driver who was more into telling us about the animals then the script we had all heard 100 times. Everyone on the ride had been on the ride before which is why I feel he did this. Next we saw It's tough to be a Bug and we got the front row and I forgot how scary for little ones this can be. We had a screaming little girl behind us and I felt for her parents who did not know how to get out or what to do. I think they were as in shock as the child was. The kids were ready for the pool by this time and we headed back to the hotel. We had lunch in the food court and then the kids swam. We headed back to MGM for Fantasmic and I had a not so brilliant idea of not taking the strollers. At the time Brooke and Drew were wide awake and it seemed like a good idea. We got to MGM and the kids were playing with Jamie (a photographer at MGM) with their light sabers. He was great and talked us into coming back in the morning, which we had not planned on doing. When we walked in the next morning he even remember us? We got there about 10 minutes before the show started since we did not want to wait long with all the kids. We were at the far end at the bottom and then realized our stroller plan might back fire. The show was great but the float with Belle and the Beast did not run. Then withi n 2 minutes of the end of the show Drew and Brooke both fell asleep. Since we were at the bottom, we walked on the bottom to the other side near the exits. Since most people walk up the stairs at their seats we were able to walk out with no waiting. We then cut through the stroller exit and walked out of the park and to the busses. My sister was at the hotel when we got there and picked up the kids. We all went to bed without setting the alarm.

Day 5 - May 20, 2005

Today my mother and step father joined us.
We arrived a little late to MGM today and did not get into the park until 9:30. Being the start of Star Wars weekends it was not a good plan, but we dealt with it. My sister arrived before us and got pictures with Jedi Mickey and then we all met at Star Tours. Brian took the kids on while we watched the Jedi training outside. After the ride my kids got some pictures with the Star War characters while my sister took her kids to see the Muppets. We met my sister at the exit for the Muppets and Buzz and Woody were at Al?s Barn so my kids went to see them while we waited. As we walking back to the Great Movie Ride we ran into the Power Rangers and he got one picture before they left. It was close to 11, so we decided to get seats for the parade at 11:15 and do the ride after. The parade was shorter then I had expected, but the kids loved it. We then rode The Great Movie Ride and the kids liked The Wizard of Oz the best. The exit is right by the door the characters come out of so we waited there for a while watching them come out. They loved just standing there guessing who would come out next and several of the characters gave hugs to the kids. Daisy hugged Brooke which was great since she is one of her favorites. After the character parade we called it the kids were ready to go to the pool. I went with my sister to return the rental car and Brian took the kids back to the hotel on the bus. We stopped by Mc Donald?s to get lunch, but Brian had already fed them and was at the pool. I did some laundry and Karen and I waited in the room for my mother and step father to show up. Once they did, the kids played with them for a while and we decided to go to Epcot for the night. My sister went to go pick up my BIL whose had been at the RV working all day. We met back in Epcot at Soarin. I let Brian go on this time and everyone loved the ride. Our luck from giving out our Fast Pass to a family came back to us when we were handed enough Fast Pass to get everyone on since my sister had her Special Assist ance Pass. I took Drew on Living with the Land and he colored at the Kid Funspot inside the Land. Even with FP getting on and off the ride takes a while. We then headed around the world starting in Canada and we ended up eating in Morocco. We enjoyed everyone being together just walking around the countries. We decided on seeing the last show in The American Adventure which was nice because the park was empty as we headed for the bus. We had no wait getting on, and again I was impressed with the bus system for the All Stars.

Day 6 - Our last full day in the world

We rode the bus to MK with my parents and met my sister inside since she was running late. Brian took the kids to ride Dumbo, while I stayed with my parents as the took pictures down Main Street. We then rode Peter Pan and met up with my sister. We normally do not ride IASW in the morning, but since it was right there we did. My family does not like to back track through the park or walk at our normal park pace, so we slowed things down for them. We took the kids on Thunder and Splash while my mother watched Drew on the playground. It was then on to Pirates and Jungle Cruise before lunch. We ate at Peco Bill?s and called it a morning and headed back to the room. Back at the room, I packed the room and the kids went to the pool. We ate the rest of our food we had in the room for dinner and my parents went to eat at the Dolphin. After they got back we headed back to the MK for Spectromagic and Wishes. We arrived back at the MK right in time for the parade and we did not make it down Main Street before it started. This made walking down Main Street against the crowd tough, but we finally made it to the bridge to watch fireworks. I went to get some water and I notice there was no wait on any of the rides. We had planned on leaving after Wishes, but we stayed to get a couple more rides in. After Wishes we rode the Tea Cups, Pooh and Barnstormer. A CM told my mother while we were on the Barnstromer that the princesses were in the store. We got to see Belle, Cinderella and Minnie with no wait and a great end to the trip. Alex wanted to ride the Indy cars once more and it was still open. We were the last cars on the track and left after that. We made it back down Main Street before the next parade finished and right on to a waiting bus.

Day 7 - We leave

We had not planned on going back into the parks, but since we had packed the day before we decided to ask Brooke and Alex what ride they would like to ride one last time. For Alex it was easy Mission Space since we had not rode it this trip and we figured Brooke would want to do Soarin again. She picked Star Tours, so I took Alex to Epcot in my mother?s car and Brian went to MGM with Brooke in our car. Drew stayed back with my parents and we both made it to the park by opening and were back at the hotel by 10. Brian packed my parent?s car and we were on the rode by 11 and back home in SC 7. We had a great trip with minor stress dealing with 6 kids in the parks. I would never have been able to go to the parks so much if Brian would not have come and helped. I am glad we went ahead and changed the plans. We did miss time with just our family, but we will be back soon. The highlight for us was watching Brooke enjoy the new rides she got to ride. Now we only have a couple more inches and there will be no more splitting up the family. We missed a couple of our family?s favorites like Chef Mickey?s and Downtown Disney, but were able to try some new things like eating in some of the countries in Epcot. As like any trip we learned tips which I will share in another email. spacer
