Colleen & Family - June 2006

Cast of Characters: Kurt -41 , Colleen (me) – 41, Sarah- 12, Kristen -6
Day 2 - June 10, 2006

The phone rings this morning at 6:00am. An early wake up call especially considering that is 5:00 am our time. No problem getting everyone up, all I have to mention is Cinderella's breakfast and even the 2 girls our out of bed quickly. Everyone jumps in the shower and gets ready as we have 8:10 ressies at the castle. Kristen was Cinderella last Halloween, so she brought her Cinderella dress with her to wear this morning. She is so excited that she can't wait to go. We get to the bus stop and a MK bus comes along fairly quickly. I think that we only had to wait about 10 minutes for the bus to come. This time of year the buses from All Star Sports to Magic Kingdom are just for Sports. The All Stars don't share a MK bus. We go through the line for early ressies, no problems getting through, no one even asked for a priority seating number. Looking back at the pictures it was really neat to get in early we have wonderful shots of the castle without a lot of people around. However, I am starting to notice a little bit of a problem. Having contact issues and can't see anything with small print. My one eye is watering quite a bit also. We are the second ones in line to check in at the castle so we are also second to have a picture with Cinderella. The girls loved the fact that they were able to watch for her to come down. She was so wonderful and even commented about Kristen's dress. As soon as the pictures are taken we are free to go up to the dining room. There we are met by our server Sir Steven. Kristen was so excited to be given the pink wand and a light up wishing star. Sir Steven brings out our food. It was delicious. Sarah the picky breakfast eater loved the potatoes. She even asked for seconds on them. Kristen didn't eat well; she was too excited to eat anything. The Princess were all wonderful also. We sat by a family that had two young girls and one boy. As soon as the princess arrived the young boy ran under the table and started to cry. He didn't want anything to do with princess. That was to girly for him, kept complaining that all he wanted to do was go see Buzz Lightyear. I felt sorry for that family it could be a long day for them to do stuff to keep all the kids happy. By now, my eye is really watering and I am having a hard time seeing anything. I start asking my 12 year old DD to read things to me. Kind of embarrassing for me and DH was starting to get worried. They bring around the pictures, very nice. We just had the girl's pictures taken.

After eating we walk back to purchase a locker so that we can put the girl's wands and the picture in and not having to worry about carrying the picture or possibly getting it worried. As we are walking up to rent a locker we see the train coming in to open up the park. Kristen gets excited and takes off running. Sarah runs to get her. After renting the locker we start walking back into the park. We see the Carousel and have to ride it first thing. All of us love carousels. Kristen wanted to do that ride again, but we talked her into trying some others. We then rode It's A Small World. We had to talk Kurt into riding it. When he came with his parents that is one of the few rides that he was allowed to do. He thinks that he rode it at least 5 times. We didn't have to wait so no problems there. I tried to take pictures during this ride, but that wasn't working out. It was too dark for some of the pictures and if I switch to night time pictures then we moved to fast. I was able to get a few good shots however. I also had a problem seeing the pictures. After this ride, we went to Mickey's PhilharMagic. All of us really liked this show. When we came out, we found a Minnie Fannie Pack in the shop. A friend had loaned this same fannie pack to Kristen to use for the trip, so we purchased one for her to keep. We decided to take advantage of the fact that we could have it shipped back to our resort. Wonderful service. Kurt wanted me to fill out the form but I couldn't read it. At this point getting very worried about eyesight and vowing to make an appointment with eye doctor as soon as we get back. He has mentioned bifocals before, but I didn't think I needed them. Now I am starting to wonder. We now go to see Cinderellabration. What a very nice show. Even though we were back a ways from the crown we could still see everything and even ended up with a few nice pictures. We did notice that Belle was missing from the show this morning.

We now go stand in line for Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Kristen froze on this ride, was very scared and couldn't wait to get off. Go-figure, she is the one who will do the roller coasters with me at Adventureland in Iowa, but she doesn't like this ride. Kurt takes the girls over to wait At Ariel's Grotto and I purchase 4 waters, 2 small and 2 large. As I cut in line to deliver the water, I really expected other people to complain, but no one said anything to me. After meeting Ariel, we decide to ride Snow White's Scary Adventure. The line looked long, but wasn't taking that long. Just before we get to the front of the line the ride breaks. We are given the option of waiting a couple of minutes or leaving and coming back. Most people leave. We decide to wait for a few minutes. Shortly after that they hand out a fast pass good for any ride any time. Glad we waited.

After this we head over to ToonTown and tour Minnie and Mickey's houses. When we get to the end we find Mickey in the judge's tent. The Girls were thrilled. We also were able to meet Goofy and Chip and Dale. No photopass people available. After this we talked Kristen into riding Goofy's Barnstormer. Once again she is in a panic. I give up. She doesn't want to do anything that leaves the ground. I think that she is getting tired, hungry and cranky. After this we decide to ride the train back to mainstreet and then go back to motel to cool off.

When we get back the girls grab a quick snack from the suitcase and then Kurt and Kristen lay down for a nap. Sarah and I decide to go swimming. We found the baseball pool, but was disappointed because Goofy pitching wasn't there. Sarah wants to go back to the park so we get dressed and tell Dad that we are going back and will meet them by Snow White's Scary Adventure. Minnie is out front greeting people so Sarah gets in line to get her autograph and picture taken. We finally see a photopass person. After this we shop for a bit, much easier when Kristen is not with us. We then ride Snow White's Scary Adventure. I thought it was a very cute ride, not to bad. Sarah also wanted to see Mickey's PhilharMagic again so we do that. We also saw part of Cinderellabration and this time Belle and her prince were also in the show.

We know meet back up with Kurt and Kristen. They actually arrived early so rode the carousal again. We went on Snow Whites ride again this time as a family. Walked over to Liberty Square and decided to see The Hall of Presidents. This was a very neat show. Kristen had learned about George Washington in school this year and so was very concerned about him. She was convinced that he had come back to life. Wanted to ride Liberty Square Riverboat but that was down. I also wanted to try the Haunted Mansion, but rest of family didn't want to. We went to the Columbia Harbour House for supper. Kurt and I had the Captions Special, Sarah had the fried chicken basket and Kristen chose the Macaroni and Cheese plate. All 4 of us had the triple chocolate cake for desert. I think that I could get used to all of these deserts. We don't normally have dessert at home, but it is included on the DDP.

After eating we decide to see The Country Bear Jamboree, a very good decision. Shortly after we get into the holding area (for lack of a better word) it starts to pour. We had been told to expect a small rain storm every after noon, but this was the first rain that we saw and it was after 8:00pm. We then rode the railroad back to main street. After this we shopped for a bit and then found a seat to view the Spectromagic parade. Shortly after the parade starts the batteries for the camera die, so I have no picture of this parade, but I was able to get them changed in time for Wishes. (By the end of the trip, I had changed the batteries so many times I could do it in the dark, because I now knew which way the batteries went. We really liked Wishes. After this it is time to get the girls and ourselves to bed. We were able to catch the second bus to our resort.

Some of the highlights of the day included both girls being called princess through out the day and Kristen was often called your majesty during the morning when she had on her Cinderella dress.

Down side of the day was all of the vision problems. I tried to clean contacts when we went back to resort in afternoon but this didn't help. The eye stopped watering, but I still can't read anything with small print. Even though I normally sleep with my contacts in, I will take them out tonight and see what happens.
