Cast of Characters: Me, DH, Jim; both, gulp, turning 50 this summer
Dates: Thursday, May 18 - Friday, May, 26
Day 1
We are the kind of crazy people that book the 6:20 a.m. flight so
that we get the most out of our day. Not this trip. Jim said he
needed a break. Let's be "wild", & sleep in. We booked our flight
for 12:45 on Southwest, the greatest thing to hit Philadelphia.
Well, guess what? Mr. Wild still can't sleep. Too much Disney on
the brain, so he is up at 4:30. We have our A boarding passes, but
he is still restless. I hold him off until 9:30, & we head off to
I95 South.
First though, there is a quick stop at Dunkin Donuts a tradition
born the first time we flew to Disney with our girls in 1984.
We arrive at the aiport in record time because there is no rush hour
going on. Jim leaves me at the curb to check bags, he goes to park
the car. But unlike when we leave at the crack of dawn, the econo
lot is full, and he has to use the while more convenient, twice as
expensive lot. Mr. "lets take the later flight" is now saying I
don't think we will be flying this time of day again. We move
rather quickly through security and down to our gate. Here is where
we get in line with the other crazy A passengers...on the floor.
The flight is very nice. We enjoy using my mother's day present of
a new Dvd player. We watch Pirates. 1. Because we are headed to
Disney. 2. It is a great movie. and 3. Because I watch alot of
Disney movies, on any occasion.
We arrive, get on the monorail, & that familiar voice gets on.
"Please stand clear of the closing doors"...you know you are in
Disney when you hear his voice. Our luggage picked up, we head to
get our car, which we will return the next morning at the car care
center. (His choice) We are on our way.
Is it just me, or do you all get that excited, giddy, happy feeling
when you see those huge gates with Mickey and Minnie "Welcome to
Walt Disney World"??
It is about 4:20 when we hit the security booth at CBR, and this
place really feels like "home" to us. We are greeted with, "Welcome
to the islands, Mahn. Leave your troubles outside, and enjoy your
stay". The man knows how to make a girl feel good.
Check in goes rather smoothly. Since we only need one room this
time we have no problem getting our favorite building in Martinque.
Since we have been there 21 times, they do keep track, they upgrade
us to a wonderful view, no charge! We run to get new mugs, and cold
drinks, our room is ready. It is of course, dinner time...
We quickly unpack, and change for our dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern.
We have ADRs for 6:20. Soon we head to the bus stop where we are
greeted once again by the sounds of those screeching brakes...Ahhhhh.
Stay tune for part 4. Arriving at the Magic Kingdom.
