PRE-SHOW

This is to give you a glimpse into our trip. You can decide whether to return for the actual report. Think of it as a movie trailer.

Cast of Characters: Me, DH, Jim, both turning, gulp, 50 this summer

Dates of trip: Thursday, May 18 - Friday, May 26.

It has been a rough 2006 in our family. My FIL passed away in Feb. My MIL was in 2 auto accidents, neither one her fault. One badly bruised her ribs, and the last, broke several bones in her foot. Our oldest was rearended in a bad snow, and the youngest totally dislocated her knee. All in the first 2 months of the year. Jim & I were trying to make plans for our big One. We have been to Disney about 30 times, but we wanted to make this special. The "kids" couldn't come. Both girls & our son in law are all in weddings this summer tying up many weekends. Too complicated. Oh well, since it is just us we book 5 nights at the Beach Club at the end of July. Half way between my July 18 and His August 18. Yes, I am the OLDER woman.

Shortly after, all the Bad started happening. Jim comes to me in March and says, I need "the Magic". So, I get our ressies moved. Not easy with Springbreak and Easter. Three days later his company announces a sales conference in Phoenix. For, you guessed it, during our vacation. Mandatory. So, I try again. No BC available. I pull off a ressie at Caribbean Beach our home away from home, & with AP rates we are going 8 nights, 9 days. Longest trip just us. We usally go at least a week with the family, just 4-5 days when it is us. Well, the trip is now the end of May, not as soon as he needed, but sooner than July...

Two weeks before I get these wierd "if onlys". Like if only I could have gotten the BC. If only the kids would be able to celebrate with us. If only I had stopped eating 6 months ago instead of stuffing my face every time something bad happened...ever been there, done that? To be continued....

Pre-Show - Part II

My sister tells me that she has found a way to make me feel better. I know that once I am there, all will be fine with me, buttttt... She got a last minute cancellation at the Beach Club Villas with her DVC.

I don't know how she pulled it off. Better yet, she is giving it to us as a joint birthday present, and I am thinking Christmas presents. (I am a nanny for my 3 year old niece, they run a Mortgage company, she sometimes owes me, big time.)

Anyway, with this now on her Visa, we now have the extra money coming from the two nights we won't be staying at CBR. More to spend! WoooooHOOOO!

Finally, our trip is set. I have all our ADRs. Which BTW are much easier for 2 people than the larger group we usually go with. Packing is a breeze because I keep a list in my suitcase of what I need. I also keep some essentials IN my luggage. I have told Jim with our APs, if a DING Fare comes up, I could be ready to leave in a few hours, give or take.
