Marci and Family - April 2006

Day 3: We check out of POFQ. We did express check out, so we didn't have to go to the desk at all. Got the car loaded up, but then took their the bus & monorail over to the Grand Floridian to breakfast at 1900 Park Fare: it took a bit longer than I thought it would & we were about 10 minutes late - we were sat after about a 2 minute wait! The food was wonderful, but we had just missed the characters at our end of the restaurant - ok for us & getting the kids to eat - but not OK for the 4 & 6 year olds who just wanted to see someone! At least we were able to tell them that they would see them, but they had to eat first :) DH & I ate too much! It was so yummy! Then came all the characters: Mary Poppins, Alice, the Fairy Godmother, Mad Hatter, & Pooh. As Fairy Godmother was visiting our table the camera decided it was time to stop working! The flash anyway. So after I try about 5 pictures, none of which the flash would go off on, the Fairy Godmother takes us up front to the lobby by the windows to get a picture - that works! Tigger is there too, so we get a picture with him. Back at the table the camera is working again. The characters here were all WONDERFUL - great interaction. Mad Hatter really cracked up my son! I can highly recommend this breakfast - for the money I would suggest doing it late to cover some lunch too :)

After breakfast we made our way back to POFQ to get our car & we headed over to the Outlet mall. Did a little shopping. Then headed over to the new resort - Vistana Villages - which is SUPER NICE! Unloaded the car & then went out to DTD for a while.

Day 4: We get up & head over to the AK. There is a huge line to get in, we arrived just as the turnstiles were opening, it took about 15 minutes to get in. We head straight for the new Expedition Everest. DH lets me ride first - so I get to wait in the long line & he gets the child swap fast pass :) - he lets the kids play at the Boneyard. Loved the coaster - loved the Yeti! I meet DH at the Boneyard & he leaves for the coaster - I take the kids out to ride the Triceratop Spin. Then we play a few of the carnival games - they each win a prize - luckily we were the only ones playing, so they could win! As DH exits EE the coaster gets stuck, I meet him over there to see the train stuck on the track - that would have been no fun! Right in the sin & it was HOT! We watched for a while to see if they would get going. Finally they did...

As we walk back to the other side of the park we pass by the Bird Show. We have never seen it before, the kids worry it might be scary, but we talk them into going in & we all thoroughly enjoyed the show. Afterwards, DS & DH stop to play the drums & then to watch the African acrobats. The kids loved them & were so excited to get a picture with them. We headed over to see the Lion King show (that we have seen twice before) & DS freaks out & starts crying he doesn't want to stay - no idea really why not, he's seen it. So we leave before it starts & we got get some pictures with characters. Then we decide to head out since it is really crowded & hot that day - this is the least amount of time we have ever spent at AK.

We decide to go to Epcot. The plant sculptures are so wonderful. I loved them! We walked thru the butterfly garden. The kids did the Nestle Jr Chef, while I stood in line for Soarin' - DH got the child swap again. Luckily I don't mind waiting in the long line :) Our kids were big enough to ride, but too scared! I met DH at the Jr Chef & he went to ride Soarin - after he got off, we both thought the kids could ride it - the only problem would be the fireworks at the end - they aren't big on fireworks. DS rides with DH - comes out saying how cool it was & how the golf ball came right at him, on & on. Really seemed to LOVE it. Not that fake, yeah I liked it, we get from them when they really don't. On the way out we go into the Living Seas, I knew they were rehabbing it, but since they have been the last 3 times we were there I didn't really think about it - you can't see anything but Crush & the one play room with Bruce, so we didn't spend much time in there. We ride TT next, both kids like it - it's DS first time - finally at the 40" mark! We love it! Then we go thru the countries just enough to catch some characters & plant sculptures - not for the masks yet, since we are spending all day Thurs here. On the way out we stop back in for the entire family to ride Soarin - after her 4 yo brother has ridden it & talked about it so much, she has decided she can ride too. We go, wait in line, get up there & go in To strap in & DS decides he can't ride, he didn't really like it. So DH & DS step out, but the guys there said they would save a seat for DH to ride in the next group. They wait right outside the exit door - DH comes back into ride & DD won't ride with him again because she didn't like the one loud boom of the one middle firework. DH rides alone. We head out before the fireworks begin. My kids are weird! They will set off their own at New Year's, but they won't watch Disney's!
