DAY 13 - March 27, 2006
THE BIG DAY!!
This one is long so bear with me.
I got up at 5:30 am and then the craziness began. John and Linda woke up
and we had coffee together. We took our showers and I left a message for
Karen at Fairytale Weddings. We went to breakfastat the Grand Floridian
Cafe. We went shopping and helped the kids move into our room, plus they
had all the stuff for the wedding.
Felicia helped me get my earrings in and then I realized I didn't have a
curling iron. I tried to put myhairpiece in and my hair couldn't hold it
because it was not curled. So out on a mission. Linda and I had one hour to
find a hair clip that would look good for the wedding. We went to the
Sundries store in the Grand Foridian and they told us to check the beauty
salon. We went up to the Ivy Trellis Salon and since they didn't have hair
pieces I ended up getting my hair done by Roneisha. This was totally
unplanned but thank heavens the place wasn't busy and they could take me
right away. Here it is 2:20 and Felicia is two waying me asking me where I
am. Sitting in the beauty salon getting my hair done. Alrighty then, I
only have 25 minutes to get my makeup on get dressed and get into the limo.
Hmmmmm, I wonder if I can get dressed in the car on the way over; not a
good idea I'll be sitting next to Vinny.
Somehow we all got done in time. John packed up all the things we needed
at the chapel and the kids grabbed the music, stereo and favors. The limo
arrived after all of myparty was together. First group out, John, June,
Roy, Donna, Dave,Adrianne, Holli, and Mark. The limo comes back for the
rest of us. Felicia, Vinny, Christopher, Kara, Zara, Linda, Renee and I all
get into the limo and head to the chapel.
When I arrived at the chapel I was brought into the "Bride's Room". While
sitting there I went over some last minute details with my consultant and
proceeded to sit and wait. The kids were getting fidgity by this time so we
had to keep them occuppied. While sitting there the Reverend Jack Day came
to see me. I asked Vinny to help me up so I could greet him but he told me
to stay seated and got down on one knee and kissed my hand. He said,"This
is the way we treat Royalty Princess Marie". The little one's giggled;
after all, I'm not royalty I'm "Mamaw".
A few minutes later the doors tot he chapel were closed and we lined up.
First down the aisle was Felicia grinning from ear to ear. After that,
Zara, Kara and Christopher making sure they stayed in step at the same time
watching that the rings did not fall off the pillow. Then: the "Weddig
March" startedand it was time for Vinny and I to start walking. While
walking Vinny asked if I wanted to go out the side door or go to the altar
so we were laughing walking in. As the music played, memories of the first
time John and I did this were floating through my mind. I actually felt as
giddy as I did the first time. We got to he altar and Reverend Jack said a
short prayer blessing John and I on our "special day". After the prayer was
over he asked " Who gives this woman away?" Vinny replied "I do" and kissed
and hugged me then turned to John and shook his hand. John said "Thank you
now go away" and chased Vinny off the Altar. The whole room was laughing
at that point. The ceremony went off well but when we exchanged vows, I
started to cry which once again made everyone laugh. The biggest laugh was
when we were exchanging rings and Kara looked up at Felicia and asked "Febi,
is it time for cake yet?".
After the vows we lit the "Unity Candles" and then we got to kisss. Reverend Jack said,"well, they still know how to do this part". He introduced us as "I am proud to bring you Mr. and Mrs. John Lemmon, again". We turned and walked down the aisle hand in hand just like 30 years ago smiling at each other the whole way, I don't remember those people being here. We formed a reception line and the guests all wished us well.
After the reception line we were escorted to the "Brides Room" and the guests adn wedding party were lined up to blow bubbles at us as we walked through the arch they formed. The photographer took pictures of everyone then the gang started going back in the limo while the photographer took John and I for some special pictures. After the photos were done the rest of us got in the limo and headed back to the Grand Floridian for our "reception".
We got into the Commanders Patio and John and I were sent to the table by our cake. We had some more pictures then it was time for champagne. Felicia did the toast. She mentioned how she loves the way John and I are so much in love and she thinks we are cute when we kiss "just because" and she hopes someday she will have the same kind of lasting love that we have (little did she know she was getting engaged in just a few more hours). Then John and I danced to our original wedding song, "Colour my World" and cut the cake and fed it to each other. The cake was put in a box and brought to the limo to go to dinner with us.
Everyone except the wedding party jumped into cars to head to the reception dinner but we had to send Vinny for my wheelchair (by now I was in agony). The wedding party got into the limo and headed to the Boardwalk, June treated all 21 of us to dinner as her gift to John and I . We had the rest of the champagne in the
limo so it was nice. We drank it all before we got to the Boardwalk.
When we arrived at Spoodles we waited 10 minutes for them to get the table
together for all of us. After dinner we all went our separate ways. Some
of us went back to our hotels and the kids went off to Pleasure Island.
This was by far the most memorable day I'll ever have in Walt Disney World.
