May 1st:
We started the day off with the Mickey's Magical Milestone Tour. I was great to walk into Main Street without the crowds. (Derek loves the site of an empty Main Street at night, but I think the morning is best.) The tour was great. Each of us was given an ear piece so we heard everything. We started off on Main Street and
then took a train ride to Toontown. On the train ride we tried to draw Mickey Mouse. Derek cheated and looked inside at the "how to draw Mickey" guidelines. Mom was really surprised by Toontown. She was thrilled to see that Disney had more things that catered to kids than when I was there as a scared 5 yo. At Mickey's house we got to meet the main mouse. Great photo opts. Next it was off to Fantasyland. There we talk about Sir Mickey and looked at the Willie the Giant. Then we went to Mickey's Philharmagic. Wow what a great show! Mom loved it. I still think that they should see apple pies outside this show. At the end we had earned our mouse ears and Donald Duck #1 presented them to us. He was a lot of fun and very flirty with Mom. Oh and he said that he had paid for the mouse ears,
he put them on his bill. Ha-ha! This was a great tour and price wise it was a real deal. $25 per person (-$12 ears and -$3.00 Bottled Water, makes this a $10 tour with two major meet n' greets!)
After the tour we headed off to Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. After Mom's happy ride on RRC at MGM, she hesitated about riding these rides. We Fast Passed Splash and rode BRTMRR. She laughed screamed and giggled that she loved it, but would never do it again. We headed to Adventureland watched the Tiki Birds. We all love this show. It was fun watching Mom take it all in. With a FP in hand for Jungle Cruise we did Swiss Family Robinson Tree House. Once again I have to say seeing the movie really adds to the enjoyment this attraction. And the view at the top is just amazing. It was about time for our royal lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table. I pulled a crown out of my bag and placed it on PatsyAnn and then added some glitter in her hair. Lunch was wonderful. I was worried about our 1:35 ADR, but it was great. Cinderella greeted us and we loved the photo package. It was a great photo of the four of us. When we went upstairs, all of us were enchanted with the whole place. The Fairy Godmother was supper special and all of the princesses greeted my mother as Queen Mom for the day. Food was great. Derek and I had the Major Domo's Favorite Pie - shredded beef simmered in rich cabernet sauce, served with mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables, crowning a light pastry. Yum! PatsyAnn had the Herb-Crusted Pork Tenderloin - mustard cheese grits, cabernet sauce and crispy onions. Yum! For dessert I had ordered the chocolate slipper served on an angel food cake pillow. It was perfect! We all loved this meal.
After lunch we wandered over to Splash. Mom timidly got into the queue and then in the boat. With big eyes she asked, "Where is the seatbelt?" We laughed and talked her through all of the drops. Well she loved it. She laughed. And she said they she would do it again! After this great ride we went to the JC and enjoyed the silly commentary about Inspiration Falls and zebra getting mouth to mouth from the lions. Now it was time for a short rest. About 20 minutes just to recharge.
On our way back to the MK, we hopped bus to EPCOT so we got to ride the Monorail, up front! When we entered MK the goal was to use our FP for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan, then watch the Spectromagic Parade and Wishes. Mom was amazed by our use of the FP, especially when she saw the line for Peter Pan. It just kept going and going. Spectromagic was amazing. Derek and my mother were just over whelmed with the whole thing. And Wishes- well Wishes is my favorite! This was the first time watched from the Rose Garden and it was really nice. Time for shopping on Main Street. We would rather poke around Main Street than wait in line at the bus stop.
