PatsyAnn - April 2006

May 3rd:
EPCOT FW- We dashed off to Soarin'. Mom was a bit nervous when she saw the seatbelt, but we assured her that she would love this ride. Well once again for the fiftieth time this week she was blown away. Due to timing we continued on to Living with the Land. I was amazed by the cucumber tree, and sad that the famous tomato tree had "retired." Next we were off to Turtle Talk with Crush. Wow! This was another experience with amazing Disney Magic. Make sure that you hit this one ASAP the line was ridiculously long as we exited. Now it was time to introduce PatsyAnn to Figment and Honey I Shrank the Audience. Mom loved this 3D movie, thought it was hilarious. Now it was time for our second flight over California. I finally saw the hidden Mickey clearly on the golf ball and Mom was wowed again. Lunch was at Seasons. Mom continued to comment about these "gourmet" meals that we were having at quick service restaurants. After lunch we watched the Circle of Life movie. Derek and I hadn't seen this in years and this was the first time we devoted a whole day to Future World. It was nice to watch the movie and not feel like I should be in Japan by now. We hit the Flower and Garden Center and saw the products and art that they had for sale. Next we were off to Innovations. Derek really gets into these computer games, while Mom and I just took a rest. We enjoyed the fire safety house and the plastic monster activity. After this we walked over to the Butterfly House. It was truly beautiful. I was a bit freaked out by the idea of being in a room full of flying bugs, but it was really cool. Time for Test Track. Mom was excited to try TT, as it was my nephew's favorite ride. Well we had a blast. It was another "I loved it, I'm glad I did it, but never again!" for PatsyAnn. We followed this was a drink of Beverly. I wish I had a photo of the sour puss that PatsyAnn made. Hilarious! This was followed with Spaceship Earth. Enjoyable as always. Another moment of amazement for PatsyAnn. After the ride we looked for Derek and my Leave a Legacy from 2003, which we have never been able to find. Well we finally found it and were very thrilled.

Now it was time to head back to the Living Seas for dinner at the Coral Reef. Earlier in the day Mom had wanted to get a photo of Derek and me in front of Nemo, but I told her to hold off until we got back. Well we got a great photo. And headed for the building. Well there were a few strollers in the area. Actually they were parked all over the place and mom caught the corner of one of them and went down. She ended up with a large cut on her forehead and needed medical attention. Disney was great moving us through this event. Mom's cut was glued at a hospital clinic and she took the next day off to rest. I want to leave it at that, but I do have two things to say. There are strollers everywhere at Disneyworld, be on the look out for those that are parked in the middle of a walk way and remember that these strollers (or SUV's as we called them) are much larger than the average umbrella stroller.

May 4th:
AK- Derek and I left PatsyAnn to rest after her fall. (If this event had to happen, it couldn't have happened at a better time. The only thing we missed was dinner Coral Reef.) So Derek and I headed off to Donald's Breakfast. Great character interaction with all, especially Goofy. Then we got to ride on the first EE train of the day! With FP in hand we headed to Dinoland to ride Primeval Whirl and Triceratops Spin. (Note to self EE with a belly full of Donald's Breakfast is fine bur PW is another story.) Back on EE. I love this ride. The Yeti is amazing. The plants are amazing. The coaster is supper smooth and supper fast. Love it! As we left Asia I got some tea at the Royal Anandapur Tea Company, Red Raspberry - a blend of China and African black teas with raspberry flavor. I was very pleased and happy try something new at AK. We departed AK and head off to Typhoon Lagoon.

We walked in, changed and headed to Crush and Gusher. These are some of the best water slide/coasters that I have ever encountered. When we arrived there was little to no wait so we did all three and I glad that we did them. We found them all a little different and all tossed us out of the tube laughing into the pool. I think that I could have spent the whole day just doing these three. After that we tried some of the other slides and enjoyed the tropical atmosphere. The shark Reef was so much warmer than I thought it was going to be! It was fun for me, but Derek who isn't visual challenged like me gave it two thumbs way up. As we headed out of the park we got some of the famous doughnuts. They were delicious! We must get them every time we go to WDW.

Next on our day was lunch at Earl of Sandwich. Along the way we ran into the CM that trades out CM lanyards and gives them cast member pins. This was a very exciting meeting for Derek and I and we traded for some great pins. After lunch we checked out Disney Quest – never been before- it was a whole lot of fun. The Jungle Cruise was hilarious. I fell out of the boat not once but twice. Derek and I also enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean game. DQ gets thumbs up from us, for anyone that likes advanced video gaming.

We returned to Pop to find PatsyAnn well rested, full of pin trading stories and a story about meeting our Mousekeeper. Well we told her that it was time to get ready for tonight's events. We all put on out gingham shirts and lanyards and headed toward the Magic Kingdom, for a boat ride and maybe a surprise. We all enjoyed the ride out to Fort Wilderness. I ran ahead and checked us in to the Hoop Dee Doo Review. Well mom was just tickled when she figured out that we were going to dinner at Pioneer Hall. The show was great. This was the first time for Mom and the first time that Derek and I sat in the balcony. We all enjoyed the food especially the Straw-Berry-short-CAKE. Mom thought that the show was a treasure and that Derek and I needed to go ever time that we went to WDW. They announced PatsyAnn's 70th Birthday and she enjoyed waving her napkin above her head and rubbing the wash board. I knew that she was going to enjoy this show, but I had no idea that she was going to be so charmed by it. She just loved the way that they involved the audience into the show. After the show we enjoyed a hay ride to see the electrical water pageant- which I think is really fun- and see to Wishes. The ride had audio for Wishes which was a surprise to me. If you want to view Wishes from the lake and don't have the money or time to get a cruise this is a great option. The frogs were really loud. This was a new noise to us New Englanders so it just added to the ambiance. After the ride, we took a boat back to Magic Kingdom and bus back to Pop.
