Dede, DH and Friend - September 2007

Well as I had written before, this trip was supposed to be a family trip with tamara but she decided this summer to fly the coop, so I ended up inviting my friend Ellie to go instead. So there was me, Dede,54, broc, 54 and Ellie 61.

First we took a Royal Carribean cruise and then stayed at disney sept 21-28th. We had signed up during the free dining plan, but since I changed from a teen to another adult disney charged us an extra $79 for the week at the room. Broc was only going to be spending the first two nights with us, as he had to be back for work.

My plans for the 21st were as follows. We were leaving the ship in the morning, going to the airport then getting magical express to all star sports where I had requested a first floor preferred room. I told them that the room probably wouldnt be ready when we got there, so we would just drop off our luggage pick up my scooter from Randys (having it delivered) and go to MGM, I had reservations at 1:25 pm at prime time cafe. I had deliberately made them late as I wasnt sure what time we would get there from the ship. then that evening we had tickets to Mickeys halloween party. Well what I had planned, and what happened were two diferent things.

First we were the next to last group to get off the ship. we got to the airport and got the Magical Express bus, but they gave us a bus number spot that was already full and leaving, so we had to wait for the next one. It got there, I called Randys Mobility from the bus and told him we were on our way to All Stars Sports and he would meet me there about 1230.

Got to All Stars, and they told me yes, our room was ready, but it was on the THIRD floor and I told them I did't want to deal with the elevator, and I had requested FIRST floor, so she called someone, and actually said that room was ready too. That really surprised me. I didnt know what they would do with our extra meal credits, since Broc was leaving early, but she said since we were all the reservation Ellie and I could use them.

Broc said he would take the luggage to the room, so Ellie and I waited in the lobby for the scooter. Well he called said he was running a few minutes late, and then came about 12:40 but Broc hadn't come back so Ellie went to see where he was. Found out he was just putzing around the room. I finally called his cell phone.. and said come on..It was already 1:20 and we were supposed to be at prime time at 1:25!

Needless to say, we were about a half hour late, but they didn't care and we got seats right away. I had fried chicken and so did Ellie and he got the chicken pot pie, with two desserts, and appetizer, the bill came to $105 for the three of us. (free with dining plan)

For any of you wondering if the dining plan is a good deal. I added up all our receipts for the week.There were 3 of us eating Fri and Sat and only two of us the rest of the week and our grand total came to $1040.43!!! Of course I ate at places I would probably never go to if I paid for them and ordered lots of steaks, I wouldn't normally get.But that will give you an idea what a good deal that free dining plan is.

Okay, so we left Prime time, and Broc hadn't been to Disney since like 1980 and Magic Kingdom was the only park so we were trying to fit in as much as we could during his limited time without buying a park hopper. I had bought the package with two day park tickets for each of us, I had a 5 day NED one from my last trip left and Ellie bought an extra 5 day Pass and it was only $83 I think. I thought that wasnt bad at all.

I had intentions of leaving MGM at 4, but we didnt even get out of prime time til 3 or so, so after that we rode the Great Movie Ride,went in the Muppets, went in Star Tours, and went on the Back Stage Tour. By then it was around 6, so I told them we had to get to the halloween party.

I dressed up like a pirate and he had a mask and a Mickey Sorcerer hat, and Ellie had a halloween headband thingy. We got in the park at 7 and it was decorated really neat with alot of Halloween balloony things. Mickey dressed like a ghost and stitch and lots of other ones.

I wanted to go on the trick or treat trail first cuz I had gone last yr and had a blast. I didnt really get many pictures cuz I was on the scooter and it was hard to stop with the crowds. They say they only sell a limited amount of tickets but it didnt seem like it. They gave you a Pirates of the Carribean goodie bag.. about the size of a microwave popcorn bag, and even after going thru the whole trail it was only maybe 1/4 full.

But we wanted to see the new haunted mansion since it had just opened a couple days before.. It was really awesome and I think they did a terrific job with it.

Broc wanted to see pirates so we went in there, Jungle Cruise and Tiki Birds were closed. so we went over to Mickeys philharmagic, by the time we got out the parade had started, so we couldnt get thru to go anyplace else so we had to try to watch it over peoples heads. We went on a few other things and it was after 11, seen the halloween fireworks, and they wanted to see the laugh factory and small world and I wanted to go back thru the treat trail so I told them I would meet them at the scooter place at midnight. By this time, it had really cleared out, and I could zoom the scooter really fast, and went thru the treat line twice. They were running out of candy, and this one guy told me to go over by the haunted mansion cuz his friend worked there.. and he gave out alot. Well he was right I scooted over there, and they were scooping up handfullsand filled my bag.. meanwhile others came up and they filled theres too and even a guys pirate hat.. said they wanted to get rid of it.. so I squished down what I had in my bag, and opened my purse which is like a tote bag.. and they picked up the whole box and filled them both! I bet I came home with 5 pounds of candy. I went back up to the scooter place and waited for them.

Then we went on the bus and went back to the room. Room was nice. close to the pool, but it was closed the whole time I was there, and they were just filling it with water the day before we left. I told everyone we could sleep in in the morning if they wanted, since I had the scooter.. but we ended up getting up pretty early anyways.

This was an all day epcot day. Sept 22-Had reservations at coral reef for lunch and chef mickeys for dinner. Broc had heard so much about those parmesan mashed potatoes he had to try them. We didnt get there til almost time for our coral reef reservation so Broc went over to the land quick and got us fastpasses for soarin. He and I had rode it in California.They wouldnt give us our table til he got back, but he didn't take long so we ended up with a table on the top row. I had steak and the meal for the three of us was $150.

We hadnt seen Crush or Nemo. so we rode both of those before we left the land. I liked Crush, but wasnt too impressed with the Nemo ride. Went to The Land, and rode Soarin, which we all liked and seen the Lion King movie and went on the Livin With the Land ride.. then we went over to Imagination. Honey I shrunk the audience was closed cuz they told us later in the week they were installing some new carpeting.

Got a fast pass for test track rode the Mexico ride, and Broc wanted to go to the Norway ride, so he went in there, and I took my scooter and went over and got my kaki gori.. (shaved ice) love these things. I wanted him to see the American Pavillion but it looked like it was going to rain, and it was time for our Test Track fastpass. Well he went in before Ellie and I and they told us they had changed it so now the scooter had to go in a different place.. He did eventually come back out and caught up with us. I think the elevator that took the scooters to the other side must have broken cuz I know the last couple times I was there, they had had troubles.

Came off test track and by then it was time for us to board the monorail over to Chef Mickeys.. so we took the monorail to the Magic Kingdom and then transferred to the other monorail. Chef Mickeys was fun like always.

As we were leaving when we came back, the water pageant was going across the lagoon so that was a nice finish to the night.
