Marie & Family - November 2007

Who: Marie & Family
When: November 6 - 13, 2007

Day One November 6, 2007
John and I left New York at 11:00 am and landed at 2:00 pm in Orlando. Once again we are met by Roger from SunRay Transportation. We made sure we brought our usual tip for Roger a dozen and a half Bialys from NY. Roger drove us to the POR and we bid him farewell until Friday Night.

We checked into the POR and relaxed for a few minutes then headed off to Epcot for the F&W Fest. While walking through the park we tried to think of what we would like to do different this trip so we decided not to eat any meals other than the food from the Fest. We entered the countries by Mexico and started walking around trying to find things we were really interested in trying. We tried the food from Chile as well as the wine. John loved the Shrimp con Pebre Salsa and I thought the Tomatican with Manchego Cheese was fabulous. As we left Chile we entered Argentina where I had the Dulce de Leche and John had the Grilled Beef with Chimichurri Sauce; John had the Bodega Norton Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon and I had a glass of Bodega Norton Torrontes. Moving on to Mexico I had the Chilaquiles and John a Quesadilla he had the Cetto Petite Sirah with it. Our next stop was Ireland with a Guiness for him and a Frozen Bailey's Coffee for me. Onto Germany to have some Apple Strudel and into Italy to have a glass of Rosa Regale Banfi Champagne with Dark Chocolate of course. In Poland it was time for Kielbasa and Potato Pierogies. How could we not stop in the USA and miss that great Strawberry Shortcake. From there we went to Oklahoma (Hi Karen and Shelly) to have some Buffalo with scalloped wild onions (take it from someone who eats Buffalo it was great). Went to the Rose Rock Diner in Oklahoma for Pecan Pie and a glas of Chardonnay for me and John had the Cabernet again. We wanted to get to Canada (John's heritage) and have some Cheddar Cheese Soup and Maple Custard for me and John had the Salmon. We went to Greece for some Spanakopita and then to Peru for John to have Duck over wild Rice while I went to the Dominican Republic for Flan.

After we finished that we headed back to our room from overeating. Got back to our room in time to call the kiddies and make sure the house was still standing and called Barbara Harris to tell her we were in town.

Day one may not have been long but it was filling. More tomorrow.

Day Two November 7, 2007
John and I got up around 6 am so it was like being at home. We had some coffee took our showers and headed to Epcot once again. As we headed to the bus stop we got sidetracked at the pool bar. We decided to have our first drink of the day. We left the bar around 11:30 and headed to Epcot.

We once again started our trip around the world. As we started my cellphone and rang and it was none other than our very own Barbara Harris. She was meeting us to do the world. We met in Mexico and started our journey. As we went along we stopped in the countries we enjoyed the day before and we had our Italian champagne (Rosa Regale) with chocolate. When we got to Ireland John wanted a Guiness and I had a Frozen Bailey's Coffee with whipped cream of course. We spent the day in the World Showcase and then around 6 we decided we were ready to go back to the room. Barbara drove us back where we opened a bottle of wine and enjoyed each others company for a good part of the evening. When Barbara left, John and I went for a drink in the bar and headed back to our room.

We may not have done much but we sure enjoyed ourselves.

Day Three November 8, 2007
Well, today was a good day. I got a call from Wendy's neice and we spent the day with her and her mother. Lesley-Anne and Mikhala (spelling) were the sweetest people. We walked around World Showcase with them trying different things again and introduced them to Rosa Regale with chocolate. We walked around until about 3:30 pm when they had to leave to go to the Luau at the Poly. I told her to let me know what she thought of the show and they were off. John and I stayed in World Showcase until about 6 when we went to Spoodles for dinner. We wanted to do that before the kids arrived so it was our last chance. We went back to our room watched some television and talked about what was going to happen once the kids arrived.

We had plenty to do the rest of the vacation which you will see in the next report.
