Mary & DH - October 2007

WHO?:Me 40 something - DH a tid bid younger
Monday, October 22

Well, it is our last day and while the forecast was for clouds and rain, we woke up to a beautiful sunny sky. Figuring this is short lived, we change into bathing suits and rush to the pool because we must leave here with a tan! So we grab two chairs and park ourselves for several hours.

Before we left on this trip my husband bought me an IPOD. Well, I never considered getting one for myself, figuring I am far too old for an IPOD but he downloaded a bunch of my favorite songs and there I sat at the pool enjoying my "tunes." Granted, these tunes are from the 70's and 80's, but no one knows that but me!

As lunchtime approaches we discuss what to do. We decide we'll go to Beaches and Cream again hoping that since it is Monday, alot of people have gone home. We get seated at a table right away, right next to the "to go" area. We both ordered a burger this time, equally as good as last time. While we are enjoying our lunch in comes this guy to the "to go" line that wants to be seated and wants to know why he can't be seated at what appears to be an empty table. His wife says there is a 20 minute wait and he has a problem with that. He tries to order something "to go" but whatever it was, he can only get it seated at a table. He starts yelling at the girl and then somehow the wife got the poor guy "earning his ears" to give them that table that needed clearing. Just as they are seated (next to us) he yells out to the manager who is talking to a couple at another table. She stops, looks over and tells him "wait a minute" and continues her discussion with the other customers. After that, she heads over to the man who I hear telling her that he wants something (I couldn't tell what it was) and they need to leave in 12 minutes! She tells him she can't guarantee it, but she will go ahead and put the order in. Then he yells at the waitress to come serve him and hands her his gold AMEX to pay his bill. Naturally, in the small restaurant, it causes alot of heads to turn. Well, lo and behold, what he wanted was a "kitchen sink". They come out with it and this guy is still complaining about time, etc. Apparently they were going to the airport and were in a hurry. Like it is the restaurant's fault that they didn't plan better? So, they are all yelled at because he doesn't have time to wait like the rest of us? You know most of the people at WDW, guests as well as employees are so nice. However, sometimes, you find people like this that treat others so poorly and I wonder if they are this crabby at WDW, how are they in real life??? Anyway, back to the man. They eat quickly and then shout out to various people (including us) "Do you want some of this?" Oh my gosh, this was some group! As quickly as they flew into the restaurant, they flew out.

Our entertainment was now over, so we left and headed back to the pool. We stayed there for several more hours and then went back to the the room to change and head over to Epcot. The four tops were playing tonight and I wanted to see them. We also wanted to try some of the food that we were interested but had not yet tried. Turns out, we ended up eating spinach lasagna at Italy as well as Pizza. Full from that, we went and stood over by the American Pavillion to listen to the four tops. We didn't get there before they started, but once we did get there the seats were full as were all of the standing area around there. We stood there and listened until the end of the concert, which was fabulous! They sound exactly the same!!

As night was approaching, we wanted to head back to the room for our last fireworks show. On the way, we decided to pick up a salad at the Boardwalk bakery and then go to the room and heat up our leftovers from the Italian restaurant. The salad was big, so we split it and the reheated food was just as good as when we originally had it. We sat on our balcony, talked about our trip and waited for the fireworks. The Boardwalk was pretty quiet, so I guess everyone has gone home.

After our fireworks we head inside and start the packing process. Since we had access to a washer and dryer all week, we were basically packing up clean clothes which is always nice! Normally I am incredibly sad to be leaving but this time I'm ok with it. Some of it probably has to do with the fact that I am coming down for a week in March and another 10 days in April, but also the fact that the weather has been so hot and humid I'm ready to get back to "cool" atlanta. We may not have much water, but we do have cool weather right now! So, off to bed with an early wake up call.

Day 10 - Tuesday October 23

Up at 7:00, out the door at 8:03, slapped in the face with the most stifling hot air I have experienced yet. That did it, I'm happy to be heading home. We hop in the car, and off we go. Till next time...
