DAY 6:
Busch Gardens struck from the itinerary in favor of a day off
As we were all dragging by the time we got back to the cabin last night, we decided not to go to Busch Gardens. We were going for 2 reasons. 1. Free admission for the military 2. we had a car to drive there this trip. Neither of which was enough to make us want to be on the go all day.
So we had breakfast at the Ponderosa on 192 and then we went mini golfing. We went to the winter/summerland course near Blizzard Beach. Blizzard Beach was closed due to full capacity btw. We chose the winter course thinking it might make us "feel" cooler, and it was a fun and cute course. Where else can you sit in
95 degree weather singing Christmas Carols ? And where elese will I EVER get a hole in 1 ? (or 2 holes in 1?).
Next up on the list, a nap. AHHHHHHhhh, it felt nice. LOL. After a nice nap we
decided to go to Downtown Disney and try out Raglan Road. They had a wait of about 45 minutes (Planet Hollywood only had a half hour when we walked by). We got our names on the list and took a table outside planning on an appetizer and drink while we waited. It took the waitress 20 minutes to bother to come over and take our order, and we had a to wave her down at that point. Then she informed us if we ordered the appetizer outside and our table got called we couldn't transfer it to inside. Things like that really irritate me. It was about 40 minutes before we were buzzed and shown to our table. As we had just had an appetizer (we got the Dalkey Dogs and in her defense she did get them out to us quickly), DH and I decided to split an entrée, we got the traditional bangars and mash. It was good and about the right amount for me. I have to say though their portions are smaller than many table service restaurants at Disney. DS got the Jr Shepard's Pie. It looked like it was cooked in a vegetable can, it was perfectly round and on the plate like that. He ate the potatoes and tried the meat but didn't like it cuz it doesn't taste like mine (rolling eyes). DD got the Mac and Cheese (with Dublin Cheddar) and really liked it. They do have live music and a dancer who danced
with Michael Flattley (Lord of the Dance/Riverdance) but they did not start until 9pm. Since it was just now 8pm we didn't want to sit around waiting. We asked the waiter if he could get the dancers autograph for DD thinking she might come out and talk to her but we just got the autograph. (DD is an Irish dancer).
Next we decided to head to the Adventurer's Club. The kids enjoyed the shows, in fact we had trouble getting DS to leave. We did 2 shows in the library and one in the main room, then one in the mask room, they were calling for a 3rd show and DD didn't want to go in, so DH and DS went while DD and I sat in the lounge area.
I started chatting with a guy at the bar who delivers food to some of the Disney restaurants. We had a nice a chat and I was of course plugging him for gossip. He said that US would really be vamping things up for the HP
attraction(s) as they see this as their big break. He said things were really hush hush on the new restaurants going in for Teppanyaki and the one in Italy. He said some other things but I can't remember, didn't want to take notes and look like a total idiot. J
That pretty much wrapped up our evening, we headed back to the cabin
and hit the beds.
