DAY 7:
Back to school haircuts at MK and then Epcot all day
We almost made it to MK when I planned for at opening time, about 30 minutes late, and oh the crowds! I was glad we were only staying for haircuts. There was a couple of families in front of us, but most of the kids were just getting their hair done (ie backswirls with colored gel and pixie dust) so rather quick. DH and DS had gotten haircuts here before but it was DD's first time. The boys both got colored gel on top and "hidden mickeys" in the back with the gel, and pixie dusts sprinkled on top. DD got the backswirls, it was like 2 messy buns in the back, and purple streaks on the side with all sorts of cute confetti put in it, then the messy buns were sprayed and sprinkled with pixie dust. Not to be left out, I got mine done in the backswirl too with the pixie dust but chose not to get the colored gel on the sides. We left MK as quickly as possible with a big sigh of relief and headed for the monorail. DS asked to sit in front and we were able to, had a chatty monorail pilot this time and he was a lot of fun. When we went to switch at TTC to the Epcot monorail we saw the line for MK and almost choked. I of course am now forgiven all that I have forgotten (getting seats together on the airplane etc.) because we are NOT at MK on this day. J
We got into Epcot rather quickly and headed towards Soaring to pull fast passes. I talked to Stefanie and her and Matthew were just heading into the park, so we talked again after they had pulled fast passes for soaring and their time fit into our time frame, so we decided to meet up at Soaring, giving each of us a little time before to do some of the things we wanted too. J
Next we headed for the new Nemo ride. The que line is themed really nicely, with things to look at while you are waiting. Although we didn't wait (the sign said 20 minutes but we almost walked right on). We decided we were hungry and had lunch at the Electric Umbrella, it was mediocre as usual.
Next the kids wanted to do Innoventions. It's air conditioned so DH and I were all for it. We did the plastic world robot race and made robot's (cuz the 10,000 of them we have at home are not enough, but they entertain the kids while on vacation so okay!) Next we visited a few other booths and then headed over to
Innoventions West. DD did a smoke house demonstration and they had the kids practice getting out of the house, talked about having a meeting spot and why it's important, a good presentation. DH and DS did the IBM game, while I was waiting there was no line for the Disney Visa meet and greet. Of course by the time we retrieved the boys and DD was done there was a line and it was a bit of wait. However when we got in there, we had Mickey, Minnie and Goofy ALL to ourselves to play with and they didn't rush us to head out. Goofy was a bit sad that I had a collection of Mickey pins, and the boys both had Mickey on the backs of their heads, but no Goofy anywhere. As he is DH's favorite, I felt like we had kinda dropped the ball. We did a bit more and then headed to see Figment.
As much fun and smelly as always, we walked out to find one of the professors working in the photo lab. She asked for an assistant and DD was right up there. She put her in a lab coat and some safety glasses, with her hair pulled back she looked very much the scientist (she wants to work at KSC now of course so the science will serve her well!). We got a picture that the professor took to show us how well the Kodak digital camera with a printer port works, she also showed us how easy it is to email it from the printer port.
We then headed off to meet Stefanie and Matthew for our "Soaring" meet. I SO love this ride, I think I could do it over and over and over again.
We were about ready to head for the world showcase and so were Stefanie and Matthew so we all headed that way together. Matthew was thinking of buying an Off Kilter CD but was hoping to hear them first. They were not on the schedule all week. Not sure if they were on vacation or not but they did still have CD's for sale.
We then all watched the World Showcase Players in the UK and DH got picked to play Sir Gallahad again. This show cracks me up every time I see it.
Stefanie and Matthew had to start heading out after this although we did see them skulking around the tea shop buying chocolate flakes…hmmmmm. We headed towards France where DD was able to see a white kitten named Mary (not sure of the movie) and Sleeping Beauty.
Since we were getting hungy we headed for our favorite counter service, The Tangerine Café in Morocco. They have some finicky kid choices, and something different for the adults. J Susan called shortly after this and said they would head our way. After their family got a bite to eat we started meandering. (note this is a slow walk around world showcase in any general direction with no real destination in mind).
We stopped in Italy to watch the World Showcase Performers do Romeo and Edna, funny but not as good as King Arthur and the Holy Grail in the UK. We meandered to Norway to find the boat ride was CLOSED. So we headed to Mexico to ride the new ride there. I am not too sure how I feel about this one, I will have to ride it a few more times. While I admit the old ride felt like an outdated travel
agent film, the new one seemed really disconnected to me. Had we not seen the movie (The 3 Cabelleros) I would have been REALLY lost.
Almost time for Illuminations, we got a spot on the back side of the bridge so we could lean (tired feet after walking around the world ya know) and watched one of our favorite shows. Honestly I think it is a different show every time I view it from a different spot. If you are stuck on viewing in from one favorite spot, try moving around a bit. Exhausted we head back to our cabin to fall into bed. We
should have been up and packing but would be up really early tomorrow morning.
