DAY 8:
Disney World fishing excursion and Miami pre-cruise dinner

This morning was our earliest yet, we had to be down to the marina at Ft Wilderness at 6:45 for our fishing excursion. The cost on this was not dollarless ($235 for the boat, can have up to 5 guests) but we had a great time. Our guide was Charlie Brown, and he shared a bit about the lakes and such with us. They use a rounded hook as the fish are less likely to get hurt from them, since it's catch and release. We mostly fished around the docks as that's the best place to fish.

Now a bit of background, while DH was in Iraq last tour DD wanted to go fishing with him when he got home. So they did, but when DH wanted to book this I figured it would be great fun for him and her. DS came along just because we were doing it as a family, and he did have fun. My whole reason for fishing is the wonderful quiet and relaxation, and what better place to do it than out in front the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian, the Contemporary and Fort Wilderness. DD caught the first fish and got the most of any of us. I "almost" got a fish several times before I actually did, but when I did it was the biggest of the day. I was praying DS would catch at least one so he wouldn't be completely disappointed and he did. J

DH caught several himself. Before we knew it was time to head back to Fort Wilderness and (yuk) start packing up the cabin. We had a box to ship home and had to move some stuff around before heading out. We were out of the Fort at 2 minutes to 11. Really pulled it together with team work this time. Next up our drive to Miami, it wasn't quite as long as we thought it would be, we were able to find a Sonic to eat at on the way (yum!)

We arrived in Miami and followed my directions to find the Holiday Inn at the port, parking was an obstacle but we did find a place across the street. I have a bit of trouble checking in as the girl doesn't think I am the person on my drivers liscence. Whatever.

After 3 trips of hauling up bags DH took off to return the car to the airport. WARNING, there were no gas stations in between here and there, we ended up paying Dollar $81 to fill up the tank. (UGH!) Our room is nice, although the bathroom is not all that clean. There is splatter from something on the wall (gag) and quite a bit of hair on the floor. YUK. The view is great, we looked out the window at Liberty of the Seas.

I threw in the one load of laundry I agreed to do on this trip, we got DD and DS showered and MOST of the colored gel and pixie dust out of their hair and headed across the street for our dinner meet at the mall. Laura and Leia were already there (they are not able to join us on the cruise but live here so came down to have dinner with us), as was Jill, Nikki and her family found our group, then we tracked down Binnie and her family who had called me earlier, and they had talked to Linda and they were on their way. So more people were able to join us than we were expecting and it was a whirlwind of trying to visit with everyone. So fun to finally put faces to names and see people in person. And now we are back in our room, hoping our excitement for the cruise tomorrow will allow us to sleep.
