First time visit for the kids and I to WDW

DAY 3: Magic Kingdom Sept. 11

Today we got the kids up and had breakfast (snacks again) and headed to Magic Kingdom. We got there for rope drop and to see the pre-opening show. You could just feel the excitement build!

First stop was Fantasyland, Dumbo first of course. After Dumbo we went on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, then Peter Pan's Flight and then went ahead and went to the Mickey's PhillharMagic show. That was a lot of fun! After the show we went on Cinderella's Golden Carrousel, then Snow White's Scary Adventures, and then the Mad Tea Party.

Now it was just about 10am, so we headed over to Mickey's Toontown Fair for their opening. Rode The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm. The kids liked it so much, they went on it again (once was enough for the adults) and all the characters that were in the tents at this time, we already had met and autographs, so we decided to take the Railroad around to Frontierland next. Got on right away for the Big Thunder Railroad, we had to wait a minute for dh to catch up because he went for fast passes to Splash Mountain. The kids really liked that ride, then went on Splash Mountain (didn't need the fp's) and once was enough becuase we got SOAKED!

Then we were heading to Adventureland, when we decided to stop and get some fries for snacks. Gosh, the large (dining plan, snack) was HUGE. Got 3 large fries and 2 large drinks and it took care of all 8 of us. As we were sitting there eating, a Parade or gathering of the western characters from Toy Story came by and had a show. Kids got to see it and it was cute.

Then on to Adventureland. Went to Pirates of the Caribbean and it was cute, but not quite what I expected. Then they had Smee and Captain Hook out, so we waited just a couple of minutes to get pictures and their autographs. Mr. Smee dropped Emily's fat pen (Ariel water globe type thing) and it broke and emptied out. So the CM had Emily and I follow her and went into a store and gave us a receipt form to be able to pick out any pen she wanted for free. How nice was that? Totally unexpected (we had more pens in our packs) and really made Emily's day. That was the first of many Magical moments on our trip.

Then we headed to the Enchanted Tiki Room, not really impressed with the new show and format. The in-laws stated that they won't go to it again if it's like that.

Then we hit Jungle Cruise. Yep, just as corny as I remembered. Then we hit the Magic Carpets of Aladdin, gotta watch that Camel! Sure to hit you if you let your kids in control (which we of course did).

Then we decided that it was time for lunch. We got everything covered today that we wanted to do, we go back on Thursday. So we ate at Pecos Bill's outside and then hit the Country Bear Jamboree.

As we left to head to Ariel's Grotto, we saw that it was time for the parade to start, so we crossed the street so that we could escape as soon as it was over, and just happened to find a perfect spot to watch the parade, front row with no one behind us that we were blocking (that was nice too to not have to wait while claiming a spot). As soon as it was over we headed to Ariel's Grotto and the kids got their autographs and pictures and then we decided to watch Mickey's Phillharmagic again.

On the way out, we stopped for Photopass in front of the castle and they started the Dream Along with Mickey Stage show at the castle. So the adults got tons of information from the Photopass guy and the kids enjoyed the show. Then we headed out of Magic Kingdom for the day.

Next stop was to take the Monorail to the Contemporary resort for Chef Mickey's. We actually had 9pm seating for dinner, but decided that we didn't want to wait that long and wanted to make it an early night. So we went in and asked if they could get us in earlier in the day, and the CM was able to get us in with about a 15 minute wait (not bad at all for a party of 8). Food was ok, but by far not our best meal. The characters were all really fun though.

On the way back to Magic Kingdom on the monorail, the kids again got to sit up front, and got cards from the driver as well (another Magic moment). So we catch our bus back to Pop for the night and got some sleep for Animal Kingdom tomorrow.
