Day 1 - May 26, 2007

Hello from Barcelona!

This is the first of my "trip reports" that I'll write sharing all the Disney magic ON the Disney Magic as she takes her maiden voyage in the Mediterranean Sea. Right now I am in our hotel lobby awaiting the bus tot eh cruise ship. We've seen her and everyone is anxious to get on board. The lobby is filled with excitement....

We flew on Thursday afternoon from Orlando, changed planes in Atlanta, then arrived in Barcelona at 11am. Once we picked up our luggage and met a Disney castmember with the waving white Mickey hand! We were sorted by our hotels, boarded a shuttle and arrived at our nearby hotel Ätenea Mar. Disney has a hospitality deck set up in the lobby and complete our cruise check in so we don't need to deal with anything on the ship!! Once in our room, we were free to explore Barcelona. My MIL and her brother took the Med crossing and met us at the hotels. We then walk the streets to a nearby cafe and ate on the patio. The weather was cooler, yet lovely and we enjoyed seafood, olive salad and "Coke Lite"....very funny! There was a nearby mall so we walked around to see what it was like for 'real people'in Barcelona. That was fun...the mall and the people are just like us!! We walked back to our hotel"and CRASHED...that 6 hour time change was catching up with us. Luggage pick up was going to be at 8am so we got everything prepared and then went to bed! This morning we got up and had breakfast in the hotel with the rest of the folks awaiting the Disney Cruise!! It is fun to be a part of the excitement....all ages, all ready to get on board.

We took some time and walked the beach after breakfast. We were albe to wath a soccer game and a Rugby game! The best\worst was the nearby nude beach!! It was best because it is part of the European experience, but it was the worst because....well, ICK, as our 7 year old said!! We didn't even notice on our way back. We had a better time watching the paddle ball game on the nearby clothed beach!

I need to share the computer so I'll sign off for now. Only 15 minutes until we board the shutle!! I can't wait.
