Robyn and Family - June 2003

Date: June 9th to June 14th

Cast: Me(Robyn)-21, Mom(Holli)-?, Cousin Trever-10, Nephew Preston-3

We left Phoenix at 3:30 am, both Preston and Trever went back to sleep. My mom drove the first half of our journey and I drove the rest of the way since she is scared to drive in California! The boys woke up once we hit the border of California. Preston enjoyed the windmills and the dinosaurs on the way. The traffic was horrible once we reached the freeways in CA, but they boys were good. Thank god I purchased the portable DVD player. They watched Preston's favorites, Peter Pan and Return to Neverland. We got to our hotel, the Peacock Inn and Suites around 10:15. And then we headed out for Disneyland. We hit fantasyland first and then the POC, one of Preston's favorites. Preston got a Captain Hook hat. Preston got to go on the Matterhorn for the first time and he really enjoyed it. We also did the Winnie the Pooh ride which was really cute! We headed back to the hotel and went to bed early.

Day 2
Trever, the early bird, was up at 4 am. We had the free breakfast at the hotel. Hit Disneyland, Preston ws tall enough for Big Thunder Mt. He loved it! He has been wanting to go on this "choo choo train"since he was 1 years old, so he was really excited. Before the trip he made us measure him everyday to see if he was tall enough for the "fast train". Trever has been wanting to go on Splash Mt. I have never been on it before and I has scared to go on it, Preston talked me into it, since he was brave enough to go on it. We both made it through! And I am so upset it took me so long to try this ride because it is now my favorite!! Thanks to Preston! (who also loved it) For lunch we split the apple fries and the apple pop'ems, they were really good. We then headed over to DCA, we tried to get Preston on Soarin' over Ca, but they said he was too small, which I found odd because he was allowed on all of the roller coasters and Splash Mt at D-Land. Preston was upset about that. We did Jumpin Jellyfish ride and found Nemo! Trever tried to talk me into CA Screamin' which I immediatly turned down. Headed back to Disneyland for more fun. Then back to the hotel.

Day 3
More rides, specifically roller coasters since they were Preston's favorites, I felt sorry for my mom because she had to sit out a lot of the rides since she does not ride roller coasters! Preston used to be the one who hung out with her in Fantasyland. We did DCA, got in line for Soarin' and the measured Preston and said he just made it! (he must have grown a little over night!) Once we are inside Preston is excited to finally get to "fly", but the excitement was soon over when another CM pulled him aside to measure him and told him he was too short:( SO I had to leave with my crying 3 yr old nephew as my mom and cousin rode. We went back to D-Land after DCA closed and then we headed back to our hotel.

Day 4
Disneyland and roller coasters again. I wish Disneyland brought back the measuring device system that they used to use, they used to measure the child and then give them a wrist band that corresponded with their height. We went back to Toontown and hit Mickey's house and we got the Steamboat Willy Mickey, which is cool because we haven't seen that one yet. We rode the Train around the park Preston was upset because he soon realized it is not the fast train like BTMR. On a side note- when we were on the train an asian woman behind us was wearing a mask so me and my mom immediately thought of SARS!! LOL, hopefully she was wearing it for another reason. We head over to DCA because Disneyland was crowded. We found out that the reason it was so crowded this week is because the California kids are still in school and a lot of the schools are there for field trips and graduation parties. The students who were there had horrible behavior and language. I was a little upset about it because it put a damper on our vacation. Today on Splash Mt, I noticed that the Brer Bear and Rabbit had silly string all over them. It is horrible that people find joy in damaging others property.

Day 5
We headed over to DCA first this morning. My mom stood in line for the Aladdin tickets while I took Preston to meet Rolie Polie Olie and Zowie and Stanley. They we watched the Muppet show and the bugs life show, which scared Trever half to death, he was practically in my lap! LOL Preston and Trever have both been wanting to go on the Sun Wheel another ride that I was scared to do. They finally talked me into it. We went on the red ones, they ones that don't swing. I didn't look for about the first half of the ride and then I finally got warmed up to it, it waspretty neat, but not one of my favorites. We did one last ride on Soarin' and they finally let Preston on it! Preston loved it, it is just too bad today is our last day and he is now finally tall enough! After the Aladdin show, which was fantastic, we headed back to Disneyland. We did more rides and roller coasters. Preston got a Peter Pan hat because he told me he needed it, so I could be Hook and he could be Peter. He loves to pretend that he is characters from the Peter Pan movie. We did on last ride on Splash Mt, ate dinner at the Hungary Bear Resturant. It was pretty cool because we got to sit near the railing and watch the boats go out and set up for the Fantasmic show we also got to feed the ducks. After dinner we did BTMR. It was great because the fireworks were going off as we were on the ride, it was really magical. We saw the later showing of Fantasmic which was great as usual. We did more rides in fantasyland and then headed back tothe hotel.

Day 6
Today we packed up and loaded up the blazer. He drove to Goofy's Kitchen for breakfast. Preston has been looking forward to eating Goofy's breakfast and seeing him. We saw Alice, Jasmine, Pluto, and Goofy. Preston missed Goofy the first time around because he was in the bathroom, but Goofy was nice enough to come back for him! I finished up some shopping and then we headed home around 1 in the afternoon. The ride home was uneventful. Preston was up the entire way, Trever slept off and on. I drove the first half and my mom did the second half. We stopped at Taco Bell and let Preston run off some energy at McDonald's. We got home 4 videos later around 7:30pm

Quick overview:
Highlights:
Fireworks while on BTMR, Preston being 40"-tall enough for the roller coasters, Preston also loved the parking garage (I'm not sure why! But he liked to but hie little arms up everytime we entered and exited the garage, I guess he thought it was like a ride! He also like the people who directed traffic in the garage!(Weird I Know!)

Low Points:
They silly string all over the animals in Splash Mt, the crowds, and the rude obnoxious students there. Me getting lost to our hotel almost every single night! LOL

If you have any other questions, let me know, sorry if I bored any of you guys!
