Night of Joy

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Night of Joy at Walt Disney World Resort, regarded as one of the top contemporary Christian music events in the country, will feature live performances of some of today's top bands in contemporary Christian rock, pop and gospel on September 11-12, 2009!

Now in its 27th year, Night of Joy takes place at Disney's Hollywood Studios, which features both outstanding concert locations and must-do thrill attractions. Guests attending Night of Joy, which takes place from 7:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. (after regular theme park hours), can combine an evening of rockin' Christian music with the thrills and chills of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and The Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror plus the shoot-'em-up fun of Toy Story Mania! slated for a summer premier.

Concerts will take place at several stage locations, with national recording acts performing each evening. Here's how they'll line up:

• Sept. 11 - Chris Tomlin, P.O.D., NewsBoys, Kutless, Needtobreathe, Leeland, Superchick, Francesca Battistelli, Abandon, Above The Golden State, & Josh Wilson

The lineup represents a continuation of Night of Joy's historic blend of musical talents -- from Christian pop and rock to contemporary Gospel, Urban and hip-hop to Praise and Worship. Eight of the acts are nominated for Gospel Music Association Dove Awards in 2009, topped by Tomlin with seven nominations including artist of the year. Other nominees are Kutless, Leeland, NEEDTOBREATHE, Skillet, MercyMe, Mandisa and Grits. More than one million guests have experienced Night of Joy from 1983 through 2009, a 27-year period during which the event was held in the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom.

With an innovative ticket – exclusively for groups of 10 or more – that combines a “day” visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios with Night of Joy admission that evening, guests will have a chance to participate in “The American Idol Experience.” And by booking on or before Aug. 12, the Studios day/Night of Joy group ticket costs just $44.95 plus tax (beginning Aug. 13, it costs $49.95).

There’s also a two-day ticket exclusively for groups of 10 or more that combines Night of Joy admission on both evenings (Sept. 11 and Sept. 12) with two “day visits” to the guest’s choice of Walt Disney World theme parks (one per day) on Night of Joy weekend (Sept. 11-13). Booked on/before Aug. 12, that ticket costs just $89.95 plus tax (beginning Aug. 13, it costs $99.95).

Money-saving ticket options are currently available for individuals too. One-night tickets purchased in advance are $49.95 plus tax (a $5 per ticket savings compared to tickets purchased on event days -- if available). Guests can save even more with a two-night ticket available in advance for $84.95 plus tax. Individual tickets can be purchased online or by calling 407/W-DISNEY. Youth groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets by by calling 877/648-3569. Guests are encouraged to buy tickets early as the event has sold out in recent years.

Note: The Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show will not be performed September 11 to 12 as Disney's Hollywood Studios prepares for Night of Joy.
