Walt Disney World Tickets and Options — Disney Theme Park Tickets

The pricing for Walt Disney World tickets are based on a Guests’ specific dates of travel. Pricing may be lower during off-peak travel periods. Tickets will need to be used during a specific time period as well. Multi-day tickets are a better value than single-day tickets. Multi-day discounts will vary depending on the length of the ticket.

It’s important to know Walt Disney World Ticket options before you visit the Walt Disney World Resort. Walt Disney World offers a dizzying array of admission ticket choices. This change to the ticket structure makes things seem a little more confusing.  Disney’s date-specific tickets can include a multiple number of days (1 – 10 days), the ability to visit several different theme parks on the same day, and admission to additional water parks and other attractions.

Each of these Walt Disney World ticket options will increase the cost of the ticket. This allows you to be in control of the price of your theme park admission. Read on to learn how to purchase Walt Disney World ticket(s) that work best for your vacation.

All that is needed to enter a Walt Disney World theme park is a one-day, one-park ticket. With this system, guests will be able to purchase tickets using an interactive online calendar. This displays different ticket prices based on the dates they choose to visit the parks. Guests looking to purchase tickets will first need to choose the number of days they are looking to visit the parks. They will also need to choose the first date you want to use your tickets using the online calendar. The calendar will show per-day pricing. That pricing is based on your start date and the length of ticket you are wishing to purchase.

The daily Walt Disney World ticket price decreases as your length of visit increases, so the more you play, the less you pay per day. Also, for single-day tickets, guests will need to choose which park they want to visit, and pricing varies depending on the specific park.

You can check which months offer the lowest-priced Walt Disney World tickets.

Say you need to make a change to your tickets. If you need to change dates, upgrade to a Park Hopper, or add days, you can easily do that, as long as you make the changes prior to the start date you selected. There is not a specific change fee, however, you will have to pay any additional fees for tickets that cost more than what you initially paid.  Note, if you change to a day that actually offers cheaper tickets, you do not get a refund or credit.

Once you select your ticket start date, you’ll be able to choose how many adult and child tickets you’ll need to purchase and you’ll see the total cost for your tickets.  (The price listed in the calendar only shows Adult ages 10+ pricing.)

Walt Disney World Ticket Pricing

Spaceship Earth Epcot

Below are examples of Walt Disney World ticket pricing. They range from one 1-day Walt Disney World ticket (Ages 10+) before tax to one 10-day Walt Disney World ticket (Ages 10+) before tax. As you will see, Walt Disney World ticket pricing will fluctuate. These depend not only on the specific date you choose but also on the number of days you plan to purchase. While not showing every day, this section should give an idea of both the fluctuation based on date, and the per-day savings for longer trips.

For single-day tickets, Magic Kingdom tickets are typically the most expensive. This is followed by Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

As a reminder, the more you play, the less you pay per day. That means that the 1-Day tickets will be the most expensive PER DAY price and the 10-Day tickets will be the least expensive PER DAY price.

Walt Disney World Tickets Expiration Dates

All multi-day Disney Theme Park Base tickets expire when you use all the days or reach the number of days purchased, whichever comes first. Walt Disney World tickets will have an expiration date that corresponds with the number of days of tickets that have been purchased. Guests will no longer have 14 days to complete their ticket use, like they did before. For example, say you purchase a four-day Walt Disney World ticket, you’ll have a seven-day window to use your tickets.

Keep in mind, you don’t have to use your park tickets on consecutive days if you don’t want to. For example, if you purchase a 3-day ticket, you could visit the Magic Kingdom and Epcot on the first two days of your vacation, visit Daytona Beach on days 3-4 of your vacation, and return to Walt Disney World to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom on day 5 of your vacation. If you return to Walt Disney World on day 6 of your vacation, in this example, however, your Disney Theme Park ticket is no longer valid. Even though, technically, there is still one unused day.

Expiration dates for the Walt Disney World tickets will be:

  • 1-day ticket – valid only the start date selected
  • 2-day ticket – any 2 days within 4 days beginning on the start date
  • 3-day ticket – any 3 days within 5 days beginning on the start date
  • 4-day ticket – any 4 days within 7 days beginning on the start date
  • 5-day ticket – any 5 days within 8 days beginning on the start date
  • 6-day ticket – any 6 days within 9 days beginning on the start date
  • 7-day ticket – any 7 days within 10 days beginning on the start date
  • 8-day ticket – any 8 days within 12 days beginning on the start date
  • 9-day ticket – any 9 days within 13 days beginning on the start date
  • 10-day ticket – any 10 days within 14 days beginning on the start date

Date-based tickets purchased as part of a package will have one of the following valid use periods (whichever is longer): (1) the same valid use period described above, OR (2) a valid use period beginning on the package resort arrival date and ending on the package resort check-out date.

Additional information on all theme park tickets

Tickets can be purchased in advance online, by phone, through a travel agent, or at the gate. Buying a 3-day or longer ticket online will save $20 per ticket compared to buying at the gate. Children under the age of three are admitted to Disney’s theme parks for free. With 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, and a host of separately ticketed recreation and attractions, most people are going to need a bit more than a one-day, single-park ticket for their vacation.

Disney Theme Park tickets allow guests to build their Walt Disney World ticket options to suit their tastes and needs. Disney Theme Park tickets start with a Base Walt Disney World ticket of one to ten days in length. A Base ticket may only be used to enter one park per day. Each day of a multi-day Base Walt Disney World ticket can be used to enter any one of Disney’s four theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios & Disney’s Animal Kingdom). The choice is up to you. For example, you could use a 3-day Disney Theme Park ticket to spend two days at EPCOT. Then spend a third day at the Magic Kingdom. Or you could choose to go to 3 different parks, one each day.

All multi-day Disney Theme Park Tickets are nontransferable. Also, they must be used by the same person on any and all days. The person who uses the ticket for the very first time must use the ticket for its entirety. Walt Disney World uses biometric measurements to identify the owner of the ticket and prevent ticket fraud. You simply place your finger on a reader. The system, which utilizes the technology of biometrics, takes an image of your finger, converts the image into a unique numerical value, and immediately discards the image. The numerical value is recalled when you use the same ticket to reenter or visit another park. Disney does not store fingerprints. If you don’t want to use biometrics, you can simply carry and show a photo ID that matches the name identified with your ticket.

All single-day and multi-day Walt Disney World tickets purchased at Walt Disney World theme parks are now enabled with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip. This allows guests to use ‘Touch to Enter’ turnstiles at the parks. Guests can also use a MagicBand, MagicBand+, or Disney Magic Mobile. Note: If you have a paper Walt Disney World ticket from a previous vacation, visit one of the ticket booths prior to entering the park to update your ticket.

If you purchase your Walt Disney World ticket as part of a Disney vacation package at a Disney resort, your tickets will automatically be added to the MagicBand that you receive prior to your trip.

All the Disney Theme Park tickets, choices, and rules listed on this page apply to your Walt Disney World ticket, whether you tie it to your MagicBand (as part of a vacation package) or purchase it as an individual ticket. Just remember before deciding to purchase tickets separately that choosing to do so may eliminate your ability to purchase a Disney Resort Hotel discounted package should one become available during your vacation travel dates. If you’re confused about whether to purchase your tickets individually or as part of a Disney package, visit our Disney Discount page for additional information on current Disney packages that may be available or use the services of a Disney Specialized Travel agency to help you make informed choices and book your vacation.

Disney Theme Park Ticket Add-on Options

Tower of Terror | Walt Disney World Tickets

Park Hopper Option

  • Price depends on the number of days and month

The “Park Hopper” option allows you to visit more than one theme park on the same day. Select Guests, like Annual Passholders, must make a theme park reservation via the Disney Park Pass reservation system for the first park they plan to visit. After entering that first park, those Guests will be able to visit the next park at any time until each park’s regularly scheduled closure. Do keep in mind that theme park reservations are no longer required for date-based tickets (the standard ticket option). The ability to visit a park is subject to the park’s capacity limitations.

Reasons to Consider Purchasing the Park Hopper Option:

  • Your trip is three days or less and you wish to see all of the parks. This is not recommended for first-time visitors.
  • You’re traveling in a large group (or with teenagers) and feel you or your family may want to split up at times to pursue different interests.
  • You’re staying on Disney property and the convenience of returning to your resort in the afternoon for a nap or swim and then visiting a different park in the evenings sounds great! This is particularly desirable if your resort is only a short walk or monorail ride from one of the Disney theme parks.

Reasons to Forgo the Park Hopper Option:

  • You need to cut cost.
  • Your vacation is at least five days or longer. This gives you plenty of time to see all of the parks without spending additional money.
  • You’re using Disney Transportation. The possibility of spending up to an hour or more to switch parks doesn’t appeal to you.
  • You have young children (or seniors) along who need their sleep. That means you won’t be spending long hours in the park.
  • You’ve planned your trip during Value Season when several of the parks close quite early and time for park hopping is limited.
  • The parks are great, but you also want to spend a significant portion of your vacation doing other things. For example, lounging by the pool, golfing, shopping. You might even want to play at Disney Springs, visit the water parks or see some of the other Orlando sights.

Park Hopper Plus Option

  • Price depends on the number of days and month

The Park Hopper Plus option allows one to ten “visits” (based on the length of your ticket) to your choice of the following:

  • Disney’s Blizzard Beach
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon
  • Disney’s Oak Trail golf course*
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex*
  • Disney’s Fantasia Gardens* Miniature Golf Course
  • Disney’s Winter Summerland* Miniature Golf Course.

You can use “visits” as separate admissions in any combination. “Visits” do not need to be used the same day as park admissions. Visiting multiple venues on the same day will use one Park Hopper Plus entitlement for each venue visited.

The number of “visits” you get with the “Park Hopper Plus” option depends upon the number of days purchased on Disney Theme Park Ticket. All Disney Theme Park tickets will have one visit for each ticket-day purchased. For example a 3-day ticket has 3 visits and a 7-day ticket has 7 visits. Park Hopper Plus option costs a flat rate. That means the longer the length of the ticket, the more value you get for your money. Purchasing the Park Hopper Plus option adds an additional day to the number of days your Disney Theme Park ticket is valid for. If you purchase a 3-day Disney Theme Park Ticket with the Park Hopper Plus option, then you have 6 days to use the ticket entitlements. For comparison, the cost of the individual venues if purchased separate from the “Park Hopper Plus” option are listed below:

  • Water Park: $74.00 (adult plus tax) | $68.00 (child, 3-9 plus tax)
  • Water Park with Blockout Dates: $64.00 (adult plus tax) | $58.00 (child, 3-9 plus tax)
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex: $14.50 (child, 3-9 plus tax) | $19.50 (adult plus tax)
  • Oak Trail Golf (varies by time & season): Starts at $39.00 plus tax (per player)
  • Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland: $12.00 (child, 3-9 plus) | $19.00 (adult plus)

* Visit to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex includes 30 minutes of game play at The PlayStation Pavilion. Visit does not include entrance to many of the sporting events that take place at the complex. For example, admission to the Atlanta Braves spring training games is a separately tickets event. You may, however, be able to view some amateur and children athletic events during your visit. Visit Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports web site to see what events may be taking place during your vacation.

* Visit to Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland miniature golf courses is for one round of golf per day before 4:00 p.m.

* Visit to Disney’s Oak Trail golf course is for one round of golf. This is a 9-hole walking course. Adult clubs, pull cart or pre-round practice balls are not included in admission. Reservations are required. Ask the front desk of your resort for a free cab voucher to and from the course.

  • Adding the “Park Hopper Plus” option to your multi-day Base ticket saves money if you visit a Disney water park twice.
  • Those planning on visiting a Disney water park often may want to consider purchasing one of Disney’s specialized Annual Passes. It may save you money over other options, such as upgrading to the Park Hopper Plus option or Platinum Plus Annual Pass. You can go to your “chosen” venue as much as you like during your trip(s) or during the year.
  • Just remember that you have only a certain number of days that corresponds with the number of days of tickets you’ve purchased from the first use of your ticket to use all of your park admissions and all of your “Park Hopper Plus” options. For example, if you add the “Park Hopper Plus” option to an 9-day park ticket, you’ll have a total of 18 combined theme park plus water park, miniature golf, etc, admissions. However, you’ll only have 14 days to use them all. Adding the option to a longer ticket may be challenging, but it’s a good deal if you visit multiple water parks and play miniature golf. Yes, even if you don’t use them all!
  • If you are planning on adding the “Park Hopper” option to your multi-day Disney Theme Park Base ticket anyway, and you’ll be making just one visit to a water park, it now makes sense to add the “Park Hopper Plus” option instead. The additional $15 it cost to upgrade per adult is less than a single adult admission to either of these venues.

Upgrading Your Walt Disney World Tickets

Walt Disney World Tickets

You can upgrade new or partially-used Disney Theme Park tickets to add extra days (up to a total of ten days), Park Hopping, Park Hopper Plus, or any combination of these options. Guests must exchange one ticket for one ticket during the upgrade. You cannot exchange a higher-priced ticket for multiple lower-priced tickets or receive a refund in any ticket exchange. Once you complete the transaction, it becomes final.

Disney Theme Park tickets can also be upgraded to an annual pass. The only possible upgrade for a 10-day Disney Theme Park ticket is to purchase an annual pass.

Upgrading Unused Tickets

You can apply the purchase price to any higher-priced ticket. As long as your Disney Theme Park ticket is unused and the new ticket costs more than the old one, you can purchase any other Disney Theme Park ticket or Annual Pass you choose.. For any one-day ticket, such as a one-day Disney Theme Park ticket or one-day water park ticket, you can only upgrade on the date of use. You cannot upgrade complimentary tickets. Simply take your ticket (or MagicBand) to any park or Disney Springs Guest Service window to complete the transaction. Only Disney Theme Park tickets can be upgraded. Tickets purchased prior to 1/2/05 that have not expired (Park Hopper and Park Hopper PLUS tickets) may still be used for park admission at no additional charge but may not be upgraded.

Upgrading Partially Used Tickets: If you change your mind during your visit and want to upgrade your partially used Disney Theme Park ticket, you can apply the entire value of the partially used ticket to the upgrade. You must upgrade partially used tickets during their valid dates. Additionally, all multi-day tickets must have at least one unused day remaining to be upgraded. So, if you have a four-day ticket and have used all four days, you cannot upgrade the ticket on the fifth day even if it has not expired.

You must include any entitlements used on the original ticket on the new, upgraded ticket. If you used the original ticket at a water park, Wide World of Sports, etc., you must purchase the new ticket with the Park Hopper Plus option. If you upgrade to an Annual Pass, you must purchase a Platinum Plus Annual Pass that includes unlimited visits to these venues.

When upgrading a used ticket to add the “Park Hopper Plus” option, you will receive the full entitlements for the length of the ticket even though you have you have used some park admission days. For example, if you use 4 days of a 7-day Walt Disney World theme park Base ticket, you will still receive 7 “visits” and must use them within 14 days of the first use of the original ticket. Simply take your ticket (or MagicBand) to any park or Disney Springs Guest Service window to complete the transaction. The system will apply the price of the existing ticket to the new ticket. With the new Disney Theme Park tickets, you can also upgrade the number of days on a partially used ticket. The system will increase the ticket use dates to match the new number of ticket days.

Upgrading Discount Tickets: If you’ve purchased a discounted ticket(s), you could end up getting credit for more than you actually paid should you decide to upgrade the ticket. When you upgrade “unused” tickets, the system applies the original purchase price to the upgrade. You can find this price printed on the front of the ticket. If you have “discounted tickets” and use one or more days before upgrading, the system may credit you for the current gate price. This effectively makes your discounted ticket deal a moneymaker!

TheMouseForLess Walt Disney World Ticket Tips

• Take a photo or make a photocopy of the back of any third-party Walt Disney World tickets and keep it in a safe place. It will be the only way to replace tickets that you may lose on your trip. You will also want to familiarize yourself with your vendor’s replacement policy. For tickets purchased at Walt Disney World or directly from Disney, keep ticket receipts in a safe place. This can also help replace lost tickets. Resort guests can show resort identification at any resort concierge, ticket booth, or Guest Services to have tickets replaced, while non-resort guests may need to show the credit card used to purchase the tickets.

• Disney doesn’t require kids who have a birthday during a trip to change tickets. The age of your child on the day you check-in determines the ticket you will need to purchase.
